Would anyone be tempted by 16/1 on France for the 'cuillère en bois'?:P

Nah, Italy already have the 'cucchiaio di legno' spoken for. :D

Even with Saint Conor pulling the strings?

For the disloyal, a punt on Scotland at 15/8 on Saturday looks interesting now that Johnny Sexton is out - again. :(

That news has certainly put the kibosh on an Ireland for the slam bet for me...

Would people here be for backing Wales -12 against Italy?

I'd avoid big bets on the opening week. There's no form to speak of.

Italy under Connor o Shea are very much unknown, dont forget they beat the boks in November.

I wouldn't touch that bet with a barge pole.

    Ireland -5 is still attractive.

Italy are fairly competitive the first weekend normally. Hopefully they step it up with a new coach. It's badly needed for the competition.

    Not I.

Wales are in disarray and Italy should be somewhat refreshed under O Shea.

No bet would be my advice. I expect an entertaining game though with my hunch being that Italy beat the spread.

  • PP are paying out bets if the team you back goes 10 points up for the 6N, think it's just the win market, not handicaps. Interesting one though if you reckon one team will take a decent lead but the other will come back into it later.

so my bet for the weekend is ireland to win between 1 -12 @ 7/5

scotland dont tend to take heavy defeats on opening week, especially at home.

That's a great offer if you are backing outsiders. Particularly Italy in the early weeks.

    A few outrights........

Think Stander Player of the tournament is a solid shout 10/1 , was 12/1. As far as I know the finalists are determined by stats. I'd imagine with all his carries he'll probably be there or thereabouts. (he has 100 carries in teh Champions cup, the highest of any player) I don't have the figure off the top of my head but i'd say he's won the last 5 MOTM awards back to back for Munster and is probably the most in form backrow in Europe. Irish forwards have form for this award as well with Paul O'Connell winning it 2015

I'm having a blast of Zebo top try scorer 16/1 e/w pays top 5 places. 4 tries wins it and 3 usually gets you into Top 5. I'd imagine he'll be starting in Irelands strongest 15.

Again in serious form for Munster. He's nearly averaged 1 in 2 games at this stage. He has a better chance for this if he starts at full back but i'd imagine Kearney will start but Kearney is lacking match time so we may see Zebo go back there further into the tournament. Zebo showed a bit of greed by backing himself against Racing and not leaving the ball out wide when there was men on the overlap, a bit of greed and backing yourself is nice for a bet like this.

Finally although unlikely Ringrose is 100/1 which is a bit of value for an each way shout. He seems to be a provider more then a scorer but 100/1 is too high, generally around the 66/1 mark everywhere else.

At this stage wait for the teams, but first impressions that's probably about 3 points too far.

England now 5/6 on PP for the 6N title. Given they have to travel to Ireland and Wales I think that's an awful bet.

Total Red Cards is 8/11 for over 0.5 on betfair. Seems like a good bet to me.

I managed to get Keith Earls at 100-1 for top try scorer. He's down to 25-1 now. Still a relatively outside bet but 100-1 is incredible odds for it.

That's a great bet, shame I missed it. I guess it was thought he was unlikely to play all the games.

In a 5 game tournament that is ridiculous. He's worth a punt at 25-1 even. All it takes is one big game and you're in business.

Sexton was top tryscorer in 2014 and hadn't even scored a try going into the 4th match. Ashton's 4 tries against Italy was more than anyone else scored in the entire tournament in 2011.

I got Stander for top tryscorer at 33/1. Even though he's at 6 I think he will get enough carries close to the line and he would move to 8 if Heaslip is taken off.

I don't understand... I've never seen this combination of words in the English language before?

Munster +10 @4/11 worth throwing into accumulator?

You can't say something like that without listing the rest of the accumulator.

4/11 on any bet is fairly useless to be honest

    My tournament bets:

    Winner/top tryscorer
    England & Jonathan Joseph @ 16/1

    England & Virimi Vakatawa @ 22/1

    Ireland & Garry Ringrose @ 100/1

    Top tryscorer
    Tommy Seymour (Scotland) @ 22/1

    Liam Williams (Wales) @ 22/1

    Wooden spoon
Wales @ 25/1 (kind of depending on them to lose today...)

    Top tryscoring team
    Ireland @ 4/1

What do they say about a fool and his money?

Pp are going 250/1 on halfpenny.Said it would be rude note to.Hes much lower elsewhere.Going to have a tiny nibble.Hes starting full back.If any player scores 2 tries against Italy theve a great chance of finishing in the top 5 for the ew by adding another try in the other 4 games.
