I think if this forum is getting attention then brands will be watching it too. I know I work in PR and have learnt a lot from reading threads. It's interesting who blocks people rather than having conversations. As a brand paying for engagement, if you hear about bloggers who block because they can't be bothered to clarify an answer to a question, that doesn't show a strong interest by the blogger on delivering on engagement. It's not just about sticking up posts and that's it. It's the follow up work

Yes I thought that companies would be happy for a conversation to open up about their brand.
If just Jordan had of said no it's not an ad I was sent them free and will be reviewing them in a blog post then that would be great for the company..
Bloggers that are rude and block make you turn against the brand they are advertising..
How do you feel as a pr who sent a br d out to a blogger and it gets a quick snap with no blog post or proper review about a brand you sent out.
In my opinion a quick snap disappears in a day not all followers check Snapchat everyday so it could be missed.
A blog post and review is out there and can be read at any time and imo pushes the brand out to a wider audience than Snapchat

Yes it should be made clear from that start that this is an ad. I reported Grace to the ASAI on Tuesday because of this particular ad - I cited her blog, facebook page, snapchat and instagram as evidence to the breach of the guidelines.
The #sp appeared days after this ad went live.
And she was on the radio about being transparent.. smh

I love sharon snap chat, its everyday life...theres no false bull **** with her.......and everthing she has she buys herself...

Yes and she updates her blog regularly.. she takes breaks from Snapchat to be with her family..
No endless boring snaps all day .. I believe what she promotes because she's not constantly plugging brands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭Cria

Ooh I didn't realise she was part of their agency🙈

Yes. Although what they do I don't know they certainly don't ensure her transparency

Any chance the companies are unaware??

I wouldn't think so it's who ever sends out the product that needs to ensure its promoted properly and guidelines are followed.

I typed in RM's name into facebook when I was looking for her blog post on dogs and the thing facebook does where it shows posts the person was tagged in. It was a woman writing to Meaghers page about how Grace basically made a mess of herself and she wouldn't go into Meaghers again until Grace was no longer affiliated with them.
Brilliant post and loads commenting. I think it's good to see because there's the unfollow option but there's also spreading the word on facebook. Having said that. the comments said the Meaghers never even bothered to reply, so they obviously couldn't care less what we think.

But then should companies get sanctioned/fined/slap on the knuckles for everytime an employee(blogger) dosnt follow the guidelines?? It might make them choose their collabs with bloggers more carefully.

    Is that on meaghers page?

Agree with the above. I don't think SJ got paid, but if Universal said come fly first class to LA with that guy who goes everywhere with you ( :P ) I'm sure I'd go too!!

Poor dogs being left yet again. Free flights, expensive ones at that, sounds like they should be declared.

It's interesting to hear people say jordan isn't the sweet simpleton she makes out to be.
She recently stated that if anything is ad, she will say so. So I took that at face value. I've only been following her about 6 months though so it's all baby photos which isn't interesting. I thought it was weird that she went on for days about donating to charity and posted people's fawning messages, but said she's not doing it for any thanks.

oh believe me she is so not the simpleton she makes herself out to be !! saw a snap last year she put up , she was going on and on about going into new shop in cork and buying a pair of runners , then later after she got them she posted a snap with a load of €50 notes all over her bed saying €2000 to pick out a pair or runners , not bad for a days work!! it was deleted again very quickly but she obviously put it on her just jordan snap instead of her own personal snap! she knows whats shes doing and this stupid show of ditzyness and oh so humble is all a farce!!! like why else was she sanpping all the stuff she was doing for charity?? she was doing it so everyone would think she was so great and generous and nice!! if she didnt want to do it for all the thanks she wouldnt have shared it

I'm sure the dogs aren't being left on their own.

wasnt every second snap from her recently about bella baby?? she was out there nearly every day picking up another essential baby item !! i wonder was that sponsored!? id say she was getting all the stuff for free for snapping about them in return,.. but still no #ad or #sp.

She'll have to declare it with revenue.

    This post has been deleted.

She even said she 'teamed up with Universal Ireland'.

'Teaming up' would leave it open to interpretation that they are both getting something out of the transaction.

What exactly happens when you report someone to ASAI? I reported someone a few months back got a confirmation mail and then a few days later got a letter in the post that they will be in contact again. Haven't heard anything since. Wonder does it take then a couple of months to check it all out or what? Have any of you that reported received any more info on it?

I never said that they were. The new pup isn't getting much of a chance to bond. But my main point was that such expensive flights would surely need to be declared and hopefully they are.

Really I must have a look .. in fairness these bloggers have gotten away with so much and still would be if people didn't speak up.

Does anyone know if the makeup lessons SiobhanOh fitness is getting from inglot is an ad?

Maybe 2 weeks ago she asked on snapchat if anyone could recommend any make up courses as she wanted to do one. Then shortly after she said Jane the owner of Inglot rang her and she has gone to maybe 3/4 lessons since. Showed off the looks and products etc when she has done them.

I presume its free for her to attend as the owner invited her, where as we would all pay?

As far as I know the company are the ones that are supposed to get the rap on the knuckles. Unfortunately this country is way behind in enforcing the rules .

Well if you buy something the lessons are free in inglot. I guess they have waved that requirement for the PR return

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 398 ✭✭SpillingTheTea

As far as I know, lessons and makeovers in Inglot are €50 but are redeemable against products and vice versa. If you spent €50, you can get a free makeover or lesson.

Did she really do that ? That's awful I suppose last year was an easy year for her because no one was being reprimanded for not being transparent and herself and other bloggers were promoting and charging a fortune.
I'm sure revenue would like to speak to someone who can earn €2000 for a days work. I wonder did she declare it.. I have a friend in common with Jordan and I have heard a few things myself.

Yes she was promoting Bella baby a lot more free items I wonder will she have to pay bik herself Rosie connelly and grace promoted heavily for Bella baby. I wonder do the revenue check with these companies about that those girls got prams and car seats and never returned them.

She would have to be reported before she's investigated

It's her blogger alias. A lot of posters here refer to the alias as that's how they're better known I think.

Thanks, i'm not fond of Inglot, wouldn't know their deals etc.

She's hardly going to come on snapchat and say her make ups rotten ew. So it prob should be an #ad in my opinion. She's going in knowing she will be giving a positive review.

Don't think I've ever heard people refer to the Make up Fairy as Joanne here. People call her MUF. If the poster had said Lisa people may not have known who she's talking about. Sometimes its handier to refer to their alias. Weird thing to get picky about.
