Very interesting to see what Ryan and Mc Connell do about this, likely **** all.

Nobody is suggesting they should adopt Merkel style open borders, but bloody hell this is so bleak and likely counter productive. Its a gift for ISIS propaganda as it really strengthens us v them narrative.

Clumsy stuff like this is why far right loons are not the answer to sort Islamic terrorism.

Shockingly stupid policy that everyone said was stupid is stupid.

Anyone claiming that this has anything in the slightest to do with terrorism can go take a run and jump. If it was Saudi Arabia would have been top of the list. The chaos it is causing shows it was done with no serious thought or with the help of anyone who knew how to handle it.

The list of crimes by aliens each week serves no purpose whatsoever except to demonise foreigners.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-publish-weekly-list-crimes-immigrants-commit-refugees-aliens-executive-order-us-a7546826.html

It serves no other purpose. If it did all crimes would be included. I am worried what else he is going to justify using this list. Similarly with the gags on the scientists (who seem to be marching on Washington in March). It setting up something that he doesn't want their facts getting in the way of.

To those complaining about those he amount of negative news about Trump. Have you considered that dear leader just does a lot of bad things?

One of the people who runs the risk of being deported to Iraq. He's worked with the US military in Iraq so would be considered a target if he were to be sent back. But people will still bloody condone this incredibly dangerous and horrible policy.

Its always been the case that you could use a utility bill or dss card as id, what some Republicans want is photo id in the form of driving licence or passport.
This was deemed unconstitutional by the federal court in NC as it would overwhelmingly effect people of colour. So you might think it's bizarre but courts didn't.

yeah lets just forget it's normal everywhere else pretty much. Lets just say it's to target blacks.

It's a combination of rules that affect minorities. Close down voting booths in minority areas. Make them have a driving license. The problem with the making them have a driving permit is that 1) in texas most minority neighbourhoods don't have a DMV office and 2) they open at stupid hours. So if you're one of the 15% of hispanic residents who doesn't drive then getting a license is hard.
In Wisconsin a federal judge rules against the state in voter ID laws because they said the state made it harder to get a license.
Back in 2000 in florida they removed the names of a load of felons from the registry. That's wrong (if you've served your time it's wrong to continue to remove rights) and secondly when they removed them from the list they removed them by first initial and surname. So if your name was J Chavez (a common combination) you ended up being removed from the register because another J Chavez committed a crime. And minorities were more affected than whites by that change. I believe well over 100,000 voters were wrongly disenfranchised in the months before the election. many didn't realise until the election was happening. And that was in an election where Bush won Florida by a few hundred votes.

Here's a short video where republicans admit the whiole point of it is to suppress the democratic vote.

This is a bit more about the segment from the daily show (I can't find the full clip. If anyone knows where it is online could you let me know. The only link I can find is on comedy central and it's blocks if you're not in the US).

And here's a segment from last week tonight where they talk about North Carolina's voting laws which were struck down. When they enacted the laws they specifically asked for voting information based on race and then enacted laws to target black people. The politicians that did this said that although it was a partisan move they weren't racist

Have you forgotten It's the "united states of America".

It's a federal system made up of fifty different states., that's why why call it the "united states" although sometimes it may seem like they aren't.

Do you need the three braches of government explained as well?

It is all these people who make themselves a parody, as it is hard to take people seriously who have double standards.

What I can't understand is that if Beyonce, for example, had received death threats and phone harassment, calling her a n***** etc for deciding to sing for Obama, and she then decided she was not going to as a result of the threats... the media would have had a totally different reaction.

It is fcuking sickening that this is what happened Jennifer Holliday when it was announced that she would sing at Trump's inauguration but yet there has been very little condemnation of it (from the liberal mainstream media at least). Instead her decision to pull out has almost been applauded in comparison. I can't imagine had Beyonce pulled out of her performance for Obama that the media would have reacted the same way at all.

In the following appearance on the View, Whoopie Goldberg actually ends the interview by almost endorsing what happened as a means to an end, given that she implies it had a positive outcome.

Don't you mean photos in the public domain.

Yeah. That's not the point though. This was the post that was in reply to.
It's funny how the mask will slip if they can get a dig in.

I read during the week on Twitter that Baron Trump is autistic. Horrible phrases like "oddbod" and "window licker" were used. He's not autistic btw.

This is a ten year old boy. It highlights the seedy hypocrisy of the left.

It reminds me of Thomas Sowell, as soon as he spoke against the Dem party and the Bigotry of Low Expectations, he got nailed with racial abuse.

They refer to him as an Uncle Tom for being a GOP member.

Who fought to end slavery again? Oh yeah it was Republicans

And members of which party founded the KKK? Oh yeah it was members of the Democratic Party.

My point is that although he was saying the mask slips and dems/liberals try to get a dig in. I was pointing out that the top republican is not beyond making up **** to slur people. Sure some people on the left are idiots just as some on the right are but the republicans managed to get one of their idiots into the whitehouse.

(And after writing all that I googled public domain and trump and cruz. And it showed up the photo's of melania that were tweeted by a conservative superpac. I remember the pac said they were in the public domain. Is that what you were referring to?)

So is the Muslim ban even legal?

In the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, it was rendered expressly illegal to ban people from seeking to immigrate based on their national origin. Trump argues that a 1954 ruling allows the president to suspend entry of “any class of aliens” that he considers against the the interest of the United States. That was true - in 1954. In 1965, Congress made it explicit that "no person shall receive any preference or priority or be discriminated against in the issuance of an immigrant visa because of the person’s race, sex, nationality, place of birth, or place of residence."* https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1152 (Yes, follow up the links within that promise loopholes, they don't make what Trump's doing legal, it's mostly to do with limited numbers).

And it is fcuking heartbreaking what happened to people actually in the process of trying to get in. Some of these were American armed forces contractors whose lives and families are at risk if they're sent back to their country of origin. Others saved and paid through the nose just for the application process. At least one family has been living in a Turkish refugee camp for the past two years since they had to flee Iraq. These people have been vetted. They have gone through the process. What's happening is just plain cruel.

    And illegal.

*Bar with Congress' own positive exceptions, such as Cubans at the time.

Not a single person from the affected countries has committed a terrorist act in the US in the last 20 years or something like that.

There's a good opinion piece about it on politico.

    http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/01/trump-immigration-refugee-vetting-consequences-executive-order-214702
Insofar as there is rationale behind Trump’s move, it appears to come from a point he made about Omar Mateen, the day after he killed 49 at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. “The killer, whose name I will not use, or ever say, was born in Afghan [sic], of Afghan parents, who immigrated to the United States. … The bottom line is that the only reason the killer was in America in the first place was because we allowed his family to come here.” Trump apparently believes that we should prevent Muslims from settling in the U.S. because they are destined to be the killers of tomorrow.

But this genetic argument is absurd. Though we do not have statistics exclusively for Muslims, immigrants as a group commit crimes at a lower rate than the native born, and in the U.S. that is true of second generation immigrants as well. What’s more, more than a third of terrorist crimes are committed by converts, and, in many years, more terrorist deaths are caused by native-born right wingers than jihadists. As a Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security Study report released today notes, in 2016—the bloodiest year since 2001—only one-third of one percent of all murders in the U.S. were attributable to terrorist violence by Muslim Americans. Since 2001—and including 9/11—the total is a little over one-hundredth of one percent. What kind of serious policy of exclusion can be based on such infinitesimal numbers, especially compared with the valued added to the U.S. by these immigrant communities? Trump is doing nothing but pandering to the Islamophobes in his base.

Why Has Tokyo not been blessed by the lads running around shouting a phrase ?

Who knows. Maybe they stop immigration from Saudi Arabia:pac:.

Maybe it is their incredibly limited foreign involvement so ISIS have never seen any benefit to attacking it. I mean there are plenty of large Western cities they have yet to even try attacking. Also many others around the world they have not attacked with their corrupt idealogy. I have no idea why Tokyo would be high up on their list of targets to hit.

I mean it isn't like they have even tried or shown to care about Tokyo. They seem to take issue with western culture specifically and like hitting symobolic targets.

I take it you have proof of whatever you think the reason is? I am sure it involves detaining ex army translators in the airport though.

Edit: Actually having thought about it the Japanese must have put gag orders on their scientists years ago and as such stopped any such attacks:P.

I wonder has President Trump thought about ways all the Muslims who are already in the US to be easily identified. Perhaps they could wear some sort of badge so they can be spotted in a crowd. It would also put all the non Muslims at ease so when they see one they can give a wide berth, in order to stay safe

Honestly there's no point in arguing if tightening voter registration laws are racist, because there's just simply no justification for implementing them in the first place. Why fix something that's not even broken?

3-5m fraudulent votes were cast for Hillary? Give me a ****in break.

This clown was caught voting twice (for Trump if it makes better for those of you swing to his side) and if it was pretty easy to catch her, how the **** did 3-5 million votes somehow get casted illegally without anyone discovering it?

My opinions on tightening voter registration laws and the (true) reasoning behind them are irrelevant. The only thing that should be argued is if the laws need tightening, and the facts give a resounding 'NO' that question.

Cool. No visa ban if there's Trump business interests in the country - can't impact the company bottom line, after all:
    Summary quote:"
President Trump has signed an executive order that bans citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East from entering the United States for 90 days, according to the White House. His proposed list doesn’t include Muslim-majority countries where his Trump Organization has done business or pursued potential deals. Properties include golf courses in the United Arab Emirates and two luxury towers operating in Turkey."

This is a very interesting, if a little scary, article about the grassroots Christofascist movement in America and its role in the recent election. It makes me very scared for the inevitable moment when Pence takes over from Trump.

Christofascists have been wanting someone like Pence in the White House and, until now, didn’t have a way to get one in. They know Trump is easily manipulated and will change his mind with the wind if it makes him feel more powerful and famous. Trump couldn’t care less about policy, a fact he’s made quite obvious. The Right has given a tyrant power and fame; he will do whatever they want him to do in order to keep it. This way they can sneak Pence in on a piggyback while filling Congress with even more evangelical conservative Republicans. Compared to Trump’s abrasive and terrifying behavior, Pence seems much less threatening. This is not the case. Pence has a proven track record of legalizing discrimination and acting against women and marginalized people. Those of us who didn’t leave the far Right are being elected to federal positions or are taking over states and cities. With Pence in office, even the reasonable-seeming incumbents – who have been and are still at the mercy of the Tea Party – are growing more bold in their attempts to further the Christofascist agenda: To Take Back The Country For Christ.
