Nothing wrong with it but you it would be nice if they mentioned it even once! The only one to ever address affiliate links or the whole like to know it thing is Rosemary! People don't care so why hide it!! Most people don't care 😂

Exactly! My only gripe in this whole situation is the with the level of transparency, or lack thereof. Like I'm not expecting bloggers/influencers to show us their pay checks, but just provide us with a simple 'this is a sponsored post' or 'I was sent this' even, 'I'm an affiliate with X brand'. As an audience, it gives us a choice.

She randomly shows it on snapchat, going through the carwash and that kind of thing but rarely if ever refers to it being sponsored at those times; however she does mention that she is their 'brand ambassador' a lot - some fashion show on in Renault Belgard this week which she is overseeing by the sounds of things. Just curious, is Rosie Con getting her Renault from the same place or is she 'brand ambassador' for a different Renault branch?

She mentioned Michael Grant Renault on her SC yesterday when 'saying' she was finally opening the bottle of bubbly they gave her when picking up her new car. No #ad

If I had to click the link to see where is selling it, then I won't buy through that link, I feel like it's cheating to force your follows to click to find out!! Especially when it's a ASOS affiliated link but you can buy the brand on their own website for cheaper!!!! Grrrrrrr

You'd think when they'd been given a car for the year that they would be more careful and observant. Make up fairy was snapping while driving the other day and Rosie Connolly's son opened the car door while she was driving. I'd say this incident had only just happened and she had pulled in and had the phone out telling snapchat what happened.

Call me bitter but if I like something with an affiliate link I would intentionally not buy it through the link  and go to the website myself instead (I would with Rosemarys link as I feel she's more deserving due to her transparency). That's an outrageous amount of money to make for doing absolutely nothing.

So those blogs someone is writing, those lists they are putting together are absolutely nothing. You demand quality content for free you also demand that whoever is providing you with that content doesn't make any money out of it.

Vast majority of blogger criticism is justified it's just a pity self entitled followers aren't capable of same reflection.

To be fair, I can kinda see the point. A lot of the 'bigger' bloggers don't actually blog anymore.

I think the amount Rosemary quoted is pittance plus she still has to get paid yet. Considering the job is freelance if other jobs weren't coming in and there were the days when she had no work at all you wouldn't want to be relying on your followers to click on affiliate links to pay the bills.

But if they don't offer content why follow them. If it's for nothing why doesn't everyone do it? I would like some money for nothing too.

Eh I believe, depending on the site/type, they still get money as it is in your cookies that you clicked through their link. I also think they get a percent of money if you buy anything from the website within a month (I think it's a month). It's a smaller percent than if you buy the original piece you clicked but money all the same for basically introducing you to the website.

I've only heard that as a rumour, I would love to hear if it's true.

I've clicked on hundreds of ASOS links for example, who is getting paid for that? I've also accessed their website through their own email links so I can't see how a blogger is making money from that site for example! Why would ASOS give them a cut?

I don't really have a problem with them making money through affiliate links, seems like a nice way to make money you can hardly blame them. If it was someone I liked I wouldn't mind clicking on that link to make them some money sure it's costing me nothing. If it was someone I disliked however I wouldn't be on their blog/social media in the first place.

I never said I followed them. Doesn't mean I'm not constantly seeing stuff. As I said if they are being honest about their blogging etc then there's no problem.
And as a side note I have never in my life clicked through on any item I have seen and purchased it/not purchased it. Recently Rosemary had a fab bag up from River Island which I clicked into seen it was RI. As I hate RI bags I didn't purchase. That's the extent of my affiliate link clicking.

My post wasn't directed at you. I was just explaining why I would/wouldn't click on links.

It's liketoknowit that grinds my gears. I don't want to/shouldn't have to subscribe to another platform in order to find out where your outfit is from. It is such a bs marketing tool and I hate it.

Wasn't it said that they get money only if someone purchases the item?

I don't mind affiliate links, once it's disclosed in the blog, facebook or instagram post that it is an affiliate link. If someone posts a nice top, I like the look of it and decide myself to buy it, then I don't mind if they get a small commission.
But it's when bloggers will only show clothes from online stores which give affiliate links or won't tell you where an article of clothing is from so you have to click the link to find out, that's bugs me a bit.
And the "Like to Know It". When that was first being plugged, it was all it will be so handy for my followers, you just follow this link and get all the information. Any blogger whom I've seen promote this has never mentioned in their big long intro that they get a commission from your purchase through the link.

Didn't know you need to subscribe, only familiar (ish) with rstyle. Subscribing is ridiculous though

Ya you have to register with liketoknowit and then when you like the pic you'll get an email with the outfit info! Mad

There is very little content anymore Snapchat and links is all
Whatever content that's written from these larger bloggers are direct advertising.
I wouldn't click on them either only on Rosemary's as she's so honest about everything.
I also won't buy any of the products the likes of faces by grace Rosie con make up fairy or Suzanne Jackson promote as they are not transparent IMO.

I read an article and with some affiliate links all you need to do is click them and the person gets paid. Not sure if bloggers in ireland use them but they are there!

as long as bloggers aren't just picking and choosing what they wear so that they can use these links!

From Nikki tutorials and the video I watched yday - every product she used in video had a affiliate link bar I think 3 and for those 3 she didn't post any link or info on where to buy! Some links were for U.S store with no international delivery and another was for a U.K. Website.

If you could find the article that'd be great? I don't think it's generally the case that there's money made from just a click, RMcC has said it's only if that particular product is purchased for affiliated links she's used!

Nikki must be making a fortune from Morphe links, I am so exhausted from hearing about them that I'm purposely avoiding them!!

Also for the more "luxurious" bloggers, like say Lydia Elise Millen. Sometimes I watch her videos and she will have links below of everything featured in the video, which are all extremely expensive, Gucci bags, Burberry coat etc. She even had her engagement ring linked once. She must be making a killing.

Dublingirlo posted a pic of instagram complaining about bloggers using #ad #spon and it looks like a dig at Rosemary.

And who comments on it straight away? Holly Carpenter:rolleyes:
