This whole ambassador not having to #ad is a joke.

Grace literally snapped today she is trying her best this week to loose weight as it just isn't shifting....

Then a few snaps later she is mentioning and promoting the skinny tea she is ambassador for. She is recommending the 28 day challenge they do. She states that she has been following, "not exactly but most of the meals". No #ad.

If she stated she hasn't shifted any weight, then why does she promote the tea and meal plan if it doesn't work for her? In my opinion this is false advertising. There were a few baby snaps in between her comments so if you don't sit and watch it in one go you wouldn't actually realise its not working for her.

Also, Ia Tara make up an ambassador for Meaghers? She did a load of snaps today about getting her intolerence test in Meaghers and no ad?

Grace really isn't a great ambassador for the tea at the moment. She couldn't drink it when she was pregnant, she can't drink it now she's breastfeeding, she's not sticking to the meal plan and according to herself she can't shift the weight and isn't "skinny" (not trying to be mean, it's just that's the name of the tea). It's not promising in terms of the tea or the plan's effectiveness.

How would this make anyone want to buy the tea??

Tara is another one that is shameless in the non-disclosure department.

Disclaimer: I know Grace has just had a baby and I in no way think anyone should be skinny. I just don't see how she is an appropriate ambassador at this point in time.

Holly Carpenter had a new Dogs Trust dog at the exact same time so there may be some incentive given.
It would've been better if they'd chosen older dogs rather than puppies I suppose. But either way, if it promotes dog adoption I'm all for it.

Only if those adopting are in a position to look after the puppies.

The last thing adoption shelters need are lots of people claiming to want to adopt puppies and then abandoning them after a few weeks when they realise they're hard work!

Also, how does Suzanne get to look after those 2/3 doggies when she's here, there and everywhere I wonder? I'd love a dog myself but concerned I wouldn't be around enough (I have a full time job!!!!!!)

I am surprised no one has mentioned the discount codes yet.

When a blogger is given a discount code for a website I can only assume they are getting paid a percentage of the profits. That is why they each have their own codes - its a way for the company to track how much each blogger is giving to the site.

It wrecks my head when they say things like:

"I love this product so much so I approached them for a discount code and I am so excited to give it to you all!"

Has to be blatant lies! You were obviously sent the product and then they gave you a discount code and are paying you a percentage of the profits! Why else would they bother?? I know Rosemary McCabe is on this so maybe she can clarify?? I have never seen Rosemary give discount codes and she is definitely extremely transparent as far as I can see.

Having said the above, I do think it is absolutely hilarious that we say that this stuff bothers us yet we keep following these people like sheep (myself included!)

I know I've spoken about discount codes/coupon codes previously in this thread and in the old thread. Personally I think it's a complete sham into making the follower believe that they are making any savings on the product.

Oh sorry I must have missed when you spoke about them.

Well I do think the follower makes a saving no? Like iv used them on meaghers for example.

But still bothers me that they are completely acting when talking about them.

The thing is, the follower does make a saving, but in some instances, the companies etc either already have sales on the item or service in question ( example So Sue Me quoted a code for MyDental for the veneers but the the clinic already had a sale on, and MUF saying you get 10% off for the burgers when the butchers already have a sale on them already) so the code is null and void or they they already factor in the 'savings' so they don't really lose out.

Bans handed out for offtopicness and some not-very-nice comments.

Ignoring the fact that jeeps are completely redundant if you don't have a farm or similar, I really can't see how driving your own car is a bad thing. If she can afford an expensive one so what.

I'm not giving out-I literally couldn't care less (apart from as you said, my general gripe about jeeps in the city), but someone asked why she isn't a Renault ambassador and I simply pointed out she already has a much fancier car, and her aesthetic is quite materialistic in my opinion and hence the BMW fits her brand better.

Probably off topic anyway, I don't recall her saying where she got her car apart from snaps of her picking it up so most likely it wasn't sponsored etc.

Has anyone noticed the new lash case that SoSue is promoting at the moment, is identical to another lash companies case! There's an American lash company called House of Lashes who have the same case on the market. Pic below is the House of Lashes cases.

I didn't see her promoting similar but I have that case myself. Sues lashes as beautiful I can't say anything negative about them butbdidnanyone see her ripping the piss of of noisy people on Carla's snapchat...

As for anyone giving a discount code for Kerrigans saying they are amazing burgers well they are cause I eat them all the time and they are the best around so no one's lying

Okay so, as I am now incredibly diplomatic (LOL!) I can only speak for myself: I've done a discount code previously with Ember & Earth, where followers get 10% off using my name – and I also did a discount with Charter Medical (when I did a paid collaboration with them). The Ember & Earth discount is an affiliate scheme, so for everybody who purchases using my code, I get a (small) % – and the CM one was part of a larger piece of work that involved a blog post, social media coverage and sharing a discount code, so it was factored into a deal (which was paid!).

I'm asked to share discount codes quite a lot, and I usually say no – maybe because it's not a product I use, or I know that a lot of other influencers have discount codes, or because we've already agreed a collaboration and the discount code wasn't part of that "deal". In theory, I charge extra to share discount codes – although I've never been paid solely to share a discount code. See two examples above!

I have one coming up next week that I'll be chatting about on Snapchat and offering a discount on, and again it's an affiliate programme, so for every order made I'll get a %. (As a rule, the % I get is usually LESS than the % discount the customer gets, so I wouldn't be making a killing with discount codes, even I was sharing one a day!)

    Hope that helps!

Of course there's another one like it. Sue hasn't claimed to have made it from scratch. It's white labeling and there's loads of bloggers who do this.

Sure Sue's highlight palette is almost identical to Charlotte's from Geordie Shore.

I believe sue uses private labelling. There was an article about it and a tread in the beauty forum here.

I believe she admitted to a journalist who was writing an article. then back-tracked and mentioned something about seeking legal advice.
At the rate she's churning out products I can't imagine much thought goes into them.
The only experience I have of her stuff is the nail varnish which is good quality.

James Kavanagh said he is making nothing on the discount code he's sharing for Revive Active. He's hardly lying, so it might not be the case that everyone makes something off them.

I wonder do business give out the codes to lots of bloggers like MARY10 , PAT10 , JOHN10 ,and also have their own generic site discount like JAM10

Then once all the different codes roll in, the can see what followers are coming across so this lets them see who to make an ambassador or work further with? Like an audition?

I never understand that the tea company always has a generic code on the go, then the fairy gets a %20, and grace had a %30 off code? Why offer different code % to different bloggers? Hope that makes sense? Also with Meaghers, Tara got her own exclusive coupon , but yet Meaghers sent an email around with a code with the same discount %, I'm sure theres a great reason behind the bloggers mentioning and promoting the codes.

Someone said it to her on Facebook about private labelling and she nearly had a stroke freaking out saying she never confirmed that and she was in the middle of seeking legal advice and denied that she used private labelling

Joanne was snapping while driving yesterday. Surely this is bad for the brand she's promoting it as it's against the law?

She is adamant that she hasn't used private labelling, straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

That was point about her product, like its identical to the other lash company. I thought she would have at least put her own twist on it so it didn't look like it came straight out of a catalogue!

I'm aware all of her products are private labeling. They're too obvious not to be.

She goes to Hong Kong for her business meetings.....

Does that not show people its all made in China ?

I have more of an issue with her mentioning dogs trust the whole time now.

I understand how one can think bloggers' business practices tie in with #ad stuff but this thread is about "bloggers promoting products for reward" in their blogs, and not how or where products are made.

Rosemary just put up a very interesting blog post regarding how blogging actually pays.

I'm shocked at how much the affiliate links pay; she's made 1770e since October from those alone and she really isn't a prolific poster of them. Suzanne et al must be making tens of thousands from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭idunno78

Just read it there. I actually watched a video this afternoon on YouTube about affiliate links! It was talkin about Nikki tutorials and how she goes about using them! But there was a picture shared on Twitter because of this from rstyle showing how much can be made from different products. So from mac paint pots it was about 2.30 the blogger got for everyone bought!(Can't remember was it dollars or euro).
Oh and different products have different %. It's Im just here to drink the tea's channel I saw it on.

So the likes of pippa and Suzanne who sell out products/clothes they must make lots! Especially if Rosemary who hasn't been using the links as long or wouldn't put up as many as them has made that much! From doing not much really just post a link!

Really really enjoyed Rosemary's new blog post on the payments from blogging. Stark reality really.

Grace talking about the tea again with no #ad
Brand ambassador or not she shoukd8be tagging it as an ad. She plugs it daily.

Now you know why when they are wearing anything little thing that can be linked they tell you to go to their facebook or "the gram". Its funny that they openly tell you when thinks are from pennys or zara as these can't be linked on those sites.

Fairy was just on talking about it there as well. They were doing their ambassador duties..... Even though Grace showed her and her sisters cups of that teapigs tea.Don't show one brand then snap about another. She always says her mum and sister drinks the skin tea, however the packet in the cupboard is the old packaging and never seems to empty.

the whole promoting of the tea is a farce. Don't know why the owners Ruth and Clark even bother. However, the fairy went into actual indept details and didn't just screen shot the info that she was given.

I seen that video. That's r.style me, the same affiliation based programme that runs LikeToKnowIt which is what the top bloggers use to show their outfits.

Nothing wrong with it but you it would be nice if they mentioned it even once! The only one to ever address affiliate links or the whole like to know it thing is Rosemary! People don't care so why hide it!! Most people don't care 😂
