I apologise if you feel I have gone off topic, I do not think I have tho. The thread is re non disclosed #ads. My thoughts on the topic are report and un follow instead of hounding their every move and bitching about them.

AFAIK you're still on topic, the moderators will be the ones to tell you if you're not.
Anyways, thanks for your input. Feel free to comment here if you ever want to disclose non declaration of ads.

No one here, as far as I'm aware has a problem with bloggers getting things for free! Once they don't blatantly lie and make out like they personally purchased the product! They don't even need to put in any hashtag just say they received blank from blank then carry on as usual! No need to mention more then once!

Also quite a few don't follow the guidelines when promoting ads. But I think since just before Xmas and this thread more noticed by then they have gotten better! Which is brilliant! I think this thread has probably made more awareness then the ASAI?!

I have unfollowed people that don't interest me and will flick through the snaps that don't interest me! I like following some of them to see the new products coming out!

I see Rosie Connolly is promoting a skincare clinic and showing before and after results possibly in exchange for free products and social media mentions? Would this be an example of benefit in kind?

Also, as an aside, fair play to her for showing her skin in that condition. It can't have been easy for her and you could tell she was very nervous.

I do think more people need to unfollow the ones that are flouting the rules though. The less followers they have, the less likely they are going to be approached by companies to flog their stuff.

If you keep following them, there's no distinction between those who likes them and who follow them to see them break the rules. It's like being unhappy with a product but buying it again anyway just so you can give out about it.

Vote with your unfollow buttons- if the numbers drop, they'll have to change the way they approach their marketing/ads.

I stopped following all the ones who are the main culprits ye mention here. Best way to make them do it right is hit them where it hurts- their follower numbers. In my opinion anyway.

I am only following three bloggers at the minute (Pippa, Aimee Connolly and Holly Carpenter) and I do so because I genuinely like them. I think they are lovely people. I like their style, make up and they show some interesting bits. When they don't use ad I always message them and ask them if it was an ad and why didn't they use ad. Not using ad doesn't make me hate them, it's just annoying.

Sometimes if someone mentions something outrageous here I'll follow that person to have a look, and quickly unfollow again. However having said that I'm very close to unfollowing Pippa because as much as I like her she rarely uses ad.

And before someone asks me how have I seen Rosie's snaps if I don't follow her, my housemate showed me as she knows I post here.

I love this boards topic. Not to bitch or to have a moan. But to see that theres others that see what I'm seeing. Theres a lot of bloggers and influences out there who have a hold over people, if they tell their followers to jump, the followers want to know how high. Bloggers having followers doesn't bother me. I have young sisters and cousins who literally fall for everything these bloggers say. The newest this and the newest that. My 17 year old sister asked me could I pick her up a bag of that skinny tea. She's a size 10 like. But the make up fairy told her it helps with bloating. So she needs it as she bloats..... More fool my sister really.

I'm old enough to see through it, but again. I'm not on social media as much as the younger generation are (i'm 30  ) It genuinely scares me that people think these bloggers are doing it for their followers benefit. Most aren't.

In the past week or so theres been a lot of posts to this thread that are being posted to make this board go off topic, and in my opinion these posters want it closed. Look at what happened on Thursday and then again this morning. These posters have very little posts to their name. Bit suss in my opinion.

Anyway, thats my 2cents worth if anyone cares :P

And to go back to topic,

Rosie was very brave to show her skin etc, however I myself went through similar and literally everything she "picked up" from that beauty place literally costs about a thousand euro. Between creams, tablets, and actual facials. She should own up and just say she got them for free in return for content etc.

Grace, she really doesn't help herself or her followers. She was sad yesterday and openly said she was having a fat day etc. I'm not being mean, she said it herself. She just had a baby so fair play to her I think. She gets the free gym etc and posts about the tea and the tea meals. She's getting paid to basically help herself slim but isn't doing anything. Look at Sinead (The beautiful truth) , she's openly said she's getting the gym for free etc. She is trying. Therefore, I would trust her opinions on the products she's mentioning in regards to weight loss.

    Thousands of euro!!
That's crazy, and it's using a vulnerability that many teens can sympathise with and relate to in order to promote a product. No doubt when the creams start to work, most of her followers will want to use them. She should definetly fess up if she's getting them for free.

I totally get RoseMary//Onthemitch 's point that if they blogger isn't paid they don't have to use #ad. However, I think the point is most of us would prefer if #freebie, bloggermail or something similar was used. Rosemary and The Beautiful Truth tends to do this or say it was sent to her. I like /follow both of them for this reason. I don't begrudge them at all for it, I'm actually glad they get it as it means I get some insight /ideas too but IMO it has to be declared it was sent. It's sent for a reason, they've already built up a following. Sure if it was a case of just Snapping we'd all get #bloggermail!
I know Rosemary said it didn't bother her when others didn't use #ad like she did as she's staying in her own lane but it would really annoy me. And it annoys me they don't as a follower.

Tldr - most people would at least prefer if #freebie #bloggermail was included when not a paid ad!

That's how I feel I don't mind if they get it free just say it and I can decide if I
Think their opinion is biased or not.

What's the worst thing that annoys me is when something is sent free like that currys television and the blogger said she bought it for her mam that's completely misleading.

Yes, I do honestly also agree with this. My answer to this is to unfollow that person and forget about them. Or, if I felt strong enough about it, report them and then unfollow and move on.

Don't come on Boards commenting on every single thing they do, bitching about them ect because I don't think that is very fair and its not nice. (Im not saying for a second your doing this, just in general that is what I see on this thread)

This thread is about bloggers not being transparent.
Some of us have children or nieces ect who are very influenced by these bloggers.
They are believing irresponsible comments like this tea help you lose up to 5lb in a week.
Or young mothers watching bloggers illegally promoting baby formula.

If these social influencers followed the rules and became completely transparent there would be no threads.

It's the same group of bloggers who are still doing it and ruining it for genuine bloggers.

IMO these threads have helped draw attention to these issues.

As far as I'm concerned everyone who works has to follow the rules why shouldn't they.

But the thing is, most of them do follow the rules and regulations but the issue here is the people commenting on this thread do not think the rules and regulations are transparent enough so therefor all bloggers are sneaky!

If you think about it, the more people that unfollow bloggers they think are breaking the rules or are not transparent enough are the ones who will start to lose money/PR drops ect and then they might change the rules so everyone knows exactly who earning what and we will all be happy!

If you read this thread you will see all bloggers are not being talked about.

It's the same names cropping up
Constantly no one is tarring the rest of the bloggers with the likes of make up fairy, faces by grace, Suzanne Jackson . Rosie con ect

If anything we are annoyed by the way they carry on because it falls back on other bloggers.

'If you don't like, unfollow' - I really hate when people say this. Yes in essence the saying is true, but if anyone who ever questions anything were to unfollow bloggers/influencers that aren't being transparent, it's the equivalent of putting your head in the sand.
They would still be deceiving the young followers they have that watch and listen to everything they say verbatim.

So yeah. we could unfollow, but would things get better if no one is there to question the unethical advertising practices?

Putting forward false and irresponsible claims of a tea helping you to lose 5lb or a miracle baby formula is a completely different issue to not using a # for an ad.

The thread is mentioning/ promoting products that's what she did she mentioned/promoted both products.

Whilst she promoted these products she didn't #ad

I personally have an issue with this as she is a blogger who is both mentioning and promoting these products. That's exactly what this thread is called.

She was putting forward false claims etc, in doing so she both mentioned and promoted the products. So talking about these is well within this boards topic.

Not admitting they are an ad is a separate issue to claiming a false health benefit.

There shoukd definitely be clear advertising standards preventing this. That's harmful and damaging to people's help.

Not using a # is not.

No one is saying not using ad is damaging to people's health. Look, if you don't like this thread nobody is forcing you to read it. I wouldn't go over to After Hours or whatever and tell them to stop talking about something just because I didn't agree with it.

The worst thing about the mu fairy plugging this €25 tea is that only a few weeks ago she done a rant on snapcaht on how she cant underatand how bloated she was despite eating well etc and was going to speak to her trainer about what she could be doing wrong and changing her diet. So clearly this amazing tea wasnt even doing what she claims it does yet still people fork out money for it

If someone gets paid or a freebie and promotes it with full disclosure great but i feel like snappchatters seem to eitherr be too lazy to bother or just have litlle respect for their followers and believe they well just buy whatever they flaunt even if they themselves dont use the product or do use it and its abit ****.

As for rosie con yes would love her to explain the pricing of the products and facials and how much she is actually paying i do feel by showing her face without filters etc at least people can judeg for theselves if the price is worth it if she continues to do regular updates

I get what you're saying- but so long as these "influencers" (I HATE this term, sure we all influence somebody... but anyway) have followers, they'll never change. I think that yes, they should be called out on it, but also unfollowed. And I really, really welcome the fact that we can name the main culprits here. Not so that we can be mean or nasty- but because they deserve to be named if they are trying to pull the wool over our eyes. So absolutely we should question when they are being unethical.

But honestly, nothing will change so long as they have followers. Zero.

I am free to read whatever thread I like, and post freely also. You can argue against or debate a topic without resorting to passive aggression each time.

Or possibly go straight to the company....I'm sure if there was enough complaints about this and have it brought to their attention on how certain bloggers and ambassadors are doing damage to their brand by not adhering to the guidelines, they might follow up on it.I mean some of the products been advertised i wouldn't buy and thats down to how its been sold online by snapchat bloggers.

Actually, there is nothing passive about what I'm saying at all, it's pretty clear. You may not like what people have to say here, but people find this outlet helpful and informative. And, ultimately, it's up to the moderators to decide what's acceptable and what's not, and, for now, they have allowed us to openly discuss this issue and name the bloggers.

    Acceptable.

I don't disagree with naming offending bloggers and your comment is completely off the beaten track so I am bowing out if such engagement with you now.

Did anyone else notice in Graces snaps yesterday on her way down to stay in a hotel that she spoke about doing an event last year and her and her mum got an amazing room with amazing views in a certain hotel and that she hoped her room would be as amazing this time around.

It obviously wasn't as she didn't share anything from the room, I remember last time she did a big room tour and got welcome presents etc. Nothing this time, and from the one or two snaps of her in the room it looked small and normal. I wonder do the event pay for the room? Or does the hotel upgrade bloggers? She did snap their food and drinks from the bar so maybe they were given a free meal, instead of the upgrade.

In case people think thats off topic, I'm writing it show that maybe she mentioned a product and she hoped she would get it again. But when she didn't receive a nice room, she don't bother mentioning or promoting it again? Hope that makes sense and is allowed?

She obviously didn't get the room she got last year snapping about the room was clearly of no benefit to her.

That's the ethos of certain bloggers these days if it doesn't benefit them they don't mention it .

Surprised the thread was closed yesterday. We were debating the argument of including a # or not including a # which I though was relevant to the thread!

    Perhaps not!

Is it closed for a day as a punishment??

Hoping someone can answer these questions! :)

If the thread goes off topic, the people who strayed should be the ones banned from posting for a day ect. Not the whole thing shut down and punishing the people who are following the rules..

I agree it's mainly a new poster who takes it off topic most of the regulars don't so hopefully going forward we won't all be punished.

Are you both avoiding answering my questions or just don't know the answers??

Certainly my comments were still relevant to the topic of # (or no #!)

Kerrigans Meats must collaborate with quite a few bloggers - many of them have discount codes!
And I saw Makeup Fairy showing some Paleo Ireland meals.

Should they qualify for #ad I wonder? They're certainly advertising those companies!

How are we able to answer your question as to why the thread was closed down?! You need to ask Biko that!!
