I'm definitely getting one, price has pushed it out of immediate purchase territory but still looks a good bit of kit.

I think Zelda will be a Wii U purchase to tide me over.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Would it technically be possible for the cartridges to have a rewritable portion for game patches?

The 3DS games receive patches so yes

I was thinking the same myself.
But, given that a significant portion of a developers income stream is derived from selling dlc, and given how big those files can be, and I'm including Splatoon and MK8 in that, they'll have to come up with something.
If a cart is a certain size, with a set aside amount of space, maybe. How will that affect the costs of games, compared to discs though, will that cut into profits for both Nintendo and the third party developers?
    So many questions!

That new Bomberman game is due out in March as well.

There's always room in my life for another 8 player Bomberman.

Gone up to €330 on gamestop :/

Yea, still underwhelming to say the least
That reveal didn't help it either
Price point is bad, pre-ordering doesn't aid to that either
And as expected third party support my arse

While I do like bomberman, to me this feels like budget game release than a system seller. I couldn't justify paying full price for it.

Ah M!Ck^, why can't we ever be on the same side?

The local networking will make a game like Bomberman work great.

I've very little interest in online gaming, so the the Switch emphasising local play is a big selling point for me.

Do smyths take full payment now or on delivery shipment?

here's the relevant bit from their email I got.
No payment has been taken. The price at the time of PreOrder may not be the price you pay when the item is available. As part of Smyths Toys Price Promise, we will always offer the lower price.

As this is for a preorder item that is not currently in stock, we will send you another email closer to the time that your order is ready to be collected in your chosen store.

The estimated availability date is 3 March 2017.

Its corrected now home page ad says €329.99
I'm going to order 2 and hope they have seen sense and allow me to install games on both systems from the one account so I can play local multiplayer with the family. Am I mad?

Yup they corrected it when I brought it to their attention on Twitter.

Suppose we should be happy Zelda makes launch after the rumours Europe would miss out.

Imagine the launch line up without Zelda :D

Ooh, it looks nicer there than it did in the pictures last night.

PS4 slim 1TB with Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky and Bloodbourne for 350. Xbox1 500GB with Battlefield 1 300. Less than Switch with no game and 128GB MicroSD card

Pre ordered the Switch when it was up for €320 at Gamestop. It's now at €330. I wonder do they do a price promise? A tenner is still a tenner.

GameStop have the red/blue console up for pre order now as well.

Keeping my pre order just in case.

I dunno about your PS4 but my Pro doesn't play Super Mario Odyssey unfortunately...

It may at the end of next year but that's neither here nor there... :P

And I hope that's not the case...

Well now I kinda want the coloured console, but my receipt just says 'Switch hardware'

If I never had a Wii U, or didn't know they existed, I'd be in. But I do have a Wii U, so there was absolutely nothing there to win me over right now.

Gotta say I'm not feeling the love. Like above, there's nothing really to draw me away from a Wii U, I saw no games that I need to play. I've been sitting on the fence about getting an Xbox One and that looks like the way I'd go.

I haven't seen any specs yet apart from internal storage, what's the resolution on TV and pad?

I see the switch as a completely different console to PS4 / XB. If I wanted a PS4 I would buy the pro and not the slim.

If Apple released a switch compatible iPad the internet would break. (Maybe)

Was a gamer in a former life and I thought will the portable aspect it would be great for flights and buses but 2.5 hours is pathetic . It would be dead before I've boarded the flight!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,431 ✭✭✭MilesMorales1

Between 2.5 and 6 hours. Not too far away from the Vita or 3DS. Jesus christ, some people want to see the worst

So... is there going to be a game that simulates a glass of water with up to 3 icecubes in it? It's going to save me so much ice-cube making time. Basically saving me money by buying the Switch.
