Yeah some clarification on the Virtual Console is needed.

It could make a whole world of difference having all the VC games from the Wii u at launch and having the GameCube games ready to go as well.

Any word on the release date for Ultra Street Fighter 2?

Also when is this treehouse thing people have been talking about?

Still can't believe that their answer to Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus is to basically lend you a NES or SNES rom for a month before taking it back. That's a whole new level of Nintendo arrogance.

Especially considering they just sold a NES emulation machine 2 months ago.

What's this Amazon discount some people are referring to? :D

I think there are more surprises to come in the next 6 weeks.

Treehouse starts in a few hours, maybe half 3?

I don't get the negativity people are feeling. I loved it. Zelda looks fantastic. Mini game compilation looks fun, mario looks incredible, splatoon is splatoon, they muffed up the communication but the games are on point, and there's obviously more than what was shown.

Has anything been shown about the actual medium the games come on?

It's supposed to be cartridges, right?

Really disappointed in the event and really disappointed in people avocating the price and launch games by preordering. Miserable start to its life tbh. Paying for online services is another tipper for me too.
Not keen on another monthly subscription myself they are getting out of hand these days.
But the price of the console isn't so bad. Sure everyone would like it to be cheaper but how cheap can you go without the quality suffering. You can't have it all.

I actually loved how awkward and Japanese all the presentation was.

That has to be one of the worst launch lineups ever.

You forget, perhaps, the PS2 and PS3, and PS4 launch line ups which were awful.

Did anyone else get worried at the start of the conference when they said it would launch March 3rd in select European markets?

I was sure they would leave us out :P

Right now I am a firm no on launch. This is after getting more sleep and reading over everything.

There is nothing appealing to me except Zelda which I can play perfectly well on Wii U.

I'm sorry but I cannot understand how anyone can be positive about that launch lineup. It's chronic. I mean if Zelda wasn't there, what is of any interest?

I really want more details on the free monthly games. In this day and age, taking games back off people again, most of which we have all paid fill retail for and have probably paid for in virtual form again, is downright insulting.

Quite a lot of consoles tend to have terrible launch line ups. Takes a while to get into your stride, whatever.

The game boxes! Strongly reminds me of the PSP boxes

All of which were still better from a Wii U owner's perspective on this.

He said he is buying this for his kids, not that the console is for kids.

I wish we could have smaller game cases.

Seems crazy that they're that size because DVD cases were that size and DVD cases were that size because VHS tapes were that size.

The Zelda & Mario trailers were fantastic. Honestly the Zelda one was probably the best trailer Nintendo have done since Twilight Princess. Absolutely incredible.
The system itself I feel it does not look much more powerful than a WiiU & they should have packed in a game with a large price, god help the parents if they have to replace joy cons. I think the cost has caught a lot by surprise.
I think they left a lot unanswered with the online portion of the system, is everything through the app? Like you can use a phone to contact anyone you know already.

All of which were still better from a Wii U owner's perspective on this.

The consoles eventually developed content, and great content, and lots of it, but the first year or so of each was utterly tragic.
The WiiU may have ultimately failed to appeal to the typical on the street games player, but it objectively had better content during its lifetime. And consistently so.
Which simply means that the typical games player on the street has no taste at all, which is why CoD sold so well until this year, when the wheels fell off the wagon, and why the same people by FIFA, Need for Speed and the like every year for incremental improvements

Plus they are back to 32GB internal storage (albeit with MicroSD storage expansion) but this pretty much rules out downloading new games: Storage will be used for OS, saves and Virtual Console games etc. Jebus, for that price they couldn't put a 250GB 2.5 in drive in the docking station? Could dump your downloads to it and then upload to the handheld storage when you want to go mobile.

I'm pretty the rumours said it takes Micro SD which is cheap as chips though.

Just a thought, why are people waiting until Christmas to pick up the switch? I appreciate that the game line up at the moment isn't great but you'll be fighting with everyone and there nan to pick up the console come Christmas time. I don't have a Wii U so the switch is a must if I want to play Zelda.

Has anyone heard anything about GameCube games coming to VC for launch? I would be happy to have Sunshine to tide me over until Odessy comes out.

    It's for the kids

The online part of the system suggests that, unlike the current crop of consoles, the Switch will not be a device that'll insist on a downloaded patch of epic proportions in order to play, at least the physical games.
It may put the storage in some perspective, if games are played from the carts, then storage outside of downloaded titles, will be less important.
When I look at my PS4/XB1 storage situation it's the downloaded titles and update files that occupy the space, with save games taking up bugger all room.
I don't doubt I'll be supplementing the storage but, well, we'll have to see how that'll all fit together.

Would it technically be possible for the cartridges to have a rewritable portion for game patches?

Hopefully so if they go the m2 or vita style priority memory I will not be amused.

Still another €60 or €70 for 128bg which is on top of what is a console that's already more expensive than the PS4 and Xbox One.

I don't really see too many people getting away with paying less that €500 for it with a game, memory card and Pro Controller at launch.

That 32gb leaves very little room for DLC and patches, nevermind downloading games.

I'm more annoyed they're not making 1-2 Switch a pack in title, like Wii Sports. Perfect for demoing and showing off the system, but I'm not paying 50 beans for it.
