Just a thought, why are people waiting until Christmas to pick up the switch? I appreciate that the game line up at the moment isn't great but you'll be fighting with everyone and there nan to pick up the console come Christmas time. I don't have a Wii U so the switch is a must if I want to play Zelda.

Has anyone heard anything about GameCube games coming to VC for launch? I would be happy to have Sunshine to tide me over until Odessy comes out.

Probably because there'll more than likely be a bundled game with it at that point and possibly even a slight price drop

I was considering one up until today, but that must be on of the worst launches in recent history. Not one game I'd buy.

Since its Region Free, is it a case that if we're over in the states, we can buy the $300 version and bring it home and have it work without problems over here?

You can, but remember, and people keep forgetting this, that $300 is the TAX FREE price. Sales tax will be added onto that and can vary from state to state. New York is 9%, I think, I can't quite remember, which brings it up in line with prices here.

It's about 325 usd with tax so about 315 euros in the US considering its 320 in gamestop.....

We are not getting done by Nintendo like people think.......

Had a think about it. Switch is not a day one purchase for me. Zelda on the WiiU on the 3rd is.

Those prices are a bit high.

Are they shooting themselves in the foot again?

I think the pricing is a mistake:

I think the launch lineup is actually pretty good.
I think the hardware is pretty good - The hybrid idea.
Need clarification of the chat functionality.

But that price is just too damn high (Insert that meme here)

I'll wait until splatoon 2 is out and grab one off adverts. not too impressed with the line up.

Sadly I have to agree with the negativity here. They had the interest of the whole gaming community and probably just lost half of them with that presentation.
I'll still get it and Zelda at launch but after that there's nothing else I'd be mad for. I'll get the Mario Kart 8 if its cheaper for those of us who own it. I can't wait for the battle arena but I'm not paying €70 just for that feature as I already own the original and bought all the dlc. Street fight II I'll get also.

smyths home page says €349.99 but when you actually pre-order it's €329.99. they fecked up and generated that image before the presentation and then set it on a timer but forgot to change the image.

Do smyths take full payment now or on delivery shipment?

Its corrected now home page ad says €329.99
I'm going to order 2 and hope they have seen sense and allow me to install games on both systems from the one account so I can play local multiplayer with the family. Am I mad?

    The night before usually.

I went from dampening my interest of it a few weeks ago to hyped like a 9 year old, and all it took for me were a Mario that looks like 64 and a Zelda that looks like Ocarina...

    I didn't have a Wii U, haven't had a Nintendo machine since the Wii, I'm well on board... :)

My only half worry is what will I do between Zelda and Mario release, I hope there will be enough to tide me over....

I'm real eager for some virtual console stuff right now. All we have confirmed is NES/SNES.

Really disappointed in the event and really disappointed in people avocating the price and launch games by preordering. Miserable start to its life tbh. Paying for online services is another tipper for me too.

What is it about the launch line up that you find pretty good? Granted, Zelda looks pretty good but in saying that it is also available on the Wii U. Bomberman games are generally good but unless it's priced at €10 or less then it is overpriced.
So for launch so far, we have

    March 2017
    Zelda: BotW (+Special/Master editions) $59.99/$99.99/$129.99
    1, 2, Switch $49.99
    I Am Setsuna
    Has Been Heroes
    Just Dance 2017
Snipperclips - Cut it out, together! $19.99
    Super Bomberman R

Presume people are only buying this because they want to own the last home console Nintendo will ever make.

This has catastrophe written all over it.

Absolutely this! A really robust virtual console lineup at launch would make a world of difference.

There's no reason why they shouldn't dump everything currently available on te Wii U virtual console out there for day one.

Add some key Gamecube titles and that'll do as a start.

On a separate note, I see Sega are doing a Puyo Puyo Tetris game for Switch. This is exactly the type of thing I wanted for the portable side.

Oh Rayman legends is launch as well, just not confirmed yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,431 ✭✭✭MilesMorales1

    Confirmed for launch
    Zelda BOTW
    1-2 Switch.
    BombermanR
    Snipperclips

Probably coming but not confirmed for launch

    I Am Setsuna
    Rayman Legends
    Just Dance 2017
    Has Been Heroes

Snipperclippers is a 20 quid digital only title, incidentally.

That has to be one of the worst launch lineups ever.

I thought Zelda looked beautiful (I did not buy a Wii-U), I liked Mario and Mario Kart and Xenoblade. I think the launch lineup is pretty good. Could do with some more 3rd party support if only to allay fears about 3rd party support but overall I thought it was a decent lineup. Certainly far superior to Wii-U

Still can't believe that their answer to Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus is to basically lend you a NES or SNES rom for a month before taking it back. That's a whole new level of Nintendo arrogance.

Yeah. It's one of the better line ups I've seen in a long time.

PS4 had Knack and a Killzone sequel no one wanted.

It's a fine launch line up, better than 3DS, but I'm baffled why Skyrim and other stuff is either summer or later in the year. Skyrim is nearly 6 years and is available cheaper and better on other platforms, its such a dumb decision.

I guess it depends on whether or not you have a WiiU. I have a Wii U so could pick up Zelda on that and save €330. Also I already own Mario Kart 8 and the addition of a few characters and a battle mode isn't that big a deal.

For me the more I think about it, it is the worse launch line up I can remember.
