So it turns out that the streaking/trailing/ghosting I'm seeing on my 3T is down to AMOLED smearing. Appearently it's pretty common on the type of screen. Happening on black/dark images with a really dark background. Exactly the same as this video.

It just doesn't do it on brighter backgrounds oddly enough.

I doubt that's your problem, the 3T doesn't have an AMOLED screen.

It does have an amoled screen.

Every month there's something new. When you really want to replace then look for the option.

Hard to argue with common sense. I'll see what the new year sales bring :-)

I'm finding the camera a bit **** having come from the S5 :(

Shots are blurrier than I'm used to which has been disappointing. The ridiculously quick camera load from double tapping the power button is really nice though. There were a good few seconds between pressing the app button on the S5 and it loading. This is near instant.

I think the camera is **** as well. It takes ages to focus, it can't keep a focus locked in, and the overall quality of the pictures is not great at all. I've tried toggling between the settings as well.

I've also noticed that the stabilisation on the videos is terrible, you can see a lot of slight movements in playback.

I'd definitely recommend against the 3T for someone who the camera/pic quality is very important.

Maybe you're right, I thought I read somewhere that the 3T used an LCD rather than an AMOLED screen...

Does the 3T have the same camera module as the 3?

The rumour for awhile was that the 3T was only coming forth because OP couldn't get enough AMOLEDs in its supply chain - so the 3T switching to LCD was the cover for this. This, however, turned out to be a false rumour.

The 3T has the same screen as the 3.

I have used S5 as well. Oneplus 3 camera is not at par with Samsung S7 or Pixel but it's not that bad either.

In my view mobile phones still have a way to go before they can be proper substitution for compact cameras.

Couple of pics taken from my Oneplus 3.

Pics of a static target are great. If your target is moving even slightly they are blurry. Taking pics of my kids is a frustrating experience. I'm hoping the Nougat update improves things but I'm not that hopeful.

How is the S7 camera better than the 3t when its only a 12MP camera as opposed to the 16MP on the 3t?

Megapixels has very little to do with picture quality these days, its all down to image processing by the software.

    Never knew that, cheers

There's much more to it than "the software" but agreed that number of megapixels has little to do with it any more.

The camera was great, I think one of the recent updates messed up the focus, 3.2.7

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Was looking for a phone with a top quality camera so the 3t may not be ideal.

OP2 got a big update (1.2GB) today, a few features added and it looks very slick now. I presume the OP3 update will be similar and released very soon

Got my cover. Just wondering is the screen protector layer that comes on the phone easily replaceable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,342 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Got a tempered glass cover from mobilefun and it's crap. Fits less of the screen than the protector that came with the phone and the the very right edge is foggy looking, won't stick. Looks stupid on the phone with a noticeable gap between protector and phone case.

Me too, I took off the perfectly fitted screen protector it came with and replaced it with a tempered glass protector but didn't look as well, I've since replaced it (twice) again and it's still not perfect.
My advice would be to leave the screen protector it comes with alone....

What do you folks think would be a fair price to sell a 3T with Otterbox for? About 2 weeks old. Spotless with box and plug/cable.

You not happy with the phone? Just ordered one last week.

I love everything about it bar the camera. Have come to realise that I could sacrifice performance without it really being noticeable for my use, so I could get a 2015 flagship with weaker performance but a better camera experience for a similar price.

Found a How-To thread on the OP3 forums, that OnePlus OGs might appreciate albeit a trivial UI feature.....
the battery percentage in the circle icon

    A shorter guide:
    - Pull down the notification bar
    - Hold down on the settings cog until it spins
    - Release & something should pop up saying something like "You have enabled System UI Tuner etc."
    - Go to settings>System UI Tuner & Tap the button to enable
    - Go to settings>battery & click on the battery icon and voila!

Is the camera that bad? One of the main reasons I ordered it was the positive reviews of the camera. Guess I'll see in a few days.

Just brings up the settings menu on mine

Never knew about that feature. Also works on my OP2.

On my OP2, the % comes up beside the circle icon & on my OP3 the % is inside the circle.

On my OP2 it is not a circle but a battery shape icon with the % inside the battery. Oxygen OS 3.1.0
