Results have been no better or worse. 2013 was exceptional year. Probably best chance they will ever get to win it.

Under GC, has been same story. Good enough to get out of Division II and hold their own in I but not good enough to beat Cats, Tipp. Galway when it matters, and no different to Waterford, Limerick, Cork, Clare or Wexford in that regard.

Waterford in no way belong in that bracket

Seriously? You really think Waterford are that far behind Tipp, KK and Galway?

I'd rate Waterford as a good bit better than Dublin anyway, but they are still in the chasing pack along with everyone else, not from KK or Tipp.

GC looks to be putting a young team together that might develop over time..
Tommy Naughton left a good group in situ for Dalo to be fair so who knows?

I suppose GC deserves a chance with his own players. But I am not a fan of his style I much preferred Dalo's style. But that is history now and time moves on.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Mick Carton on OTB talking about his treatment under GC.

Was just Listening to it, didn't make the end of the interview, but I thought it was interesting. Explains a lot, nice to hear an interview that was so honest.

Didn't hear it. What was gist?

I know himself and a few others felt badly treated.

Mikey was one of best players ever to play for Dublin. They'd have lost to Wexford in Wexford Park and in Portlaoise to Cats if it had not been for him in 2013.

The gist of it is that the enviroment around GC and the squad is toxic and, all the squad departures are an indicator of that. OTB presenter and "neutral" journo from the Herald, tried to make the case that CG is entitled to reshape the squad as he sees fit. If that means cutting away the over 30's and dead wood, then so be it. But neither of them seem to willing to address the 30lb gorilla in the room. Not every one who left the squad is a has been. Danny sure as heck ain't !

Dust off yer maps and passports, mi compadres.

Leinster GAA just tweeted that we're on the road again next year.

If we're playing Wexico, it will be in Wexico Park.
If we're playing Carlow, it will be in Portlaoise.

Match will be the weekend of June 3/4.

(Realt will be along soon, to tell us what a kip Portlaoise is.:D )

Hurlers play Galway in Tullamore on Sunday, May 28th.

Speaking of road trips, anyone seen the O'Byrne schedule for next year? It kicks off in 7 weeks and I've yet to see the 2017 draw.

Listened to it also, but it would be nice to get some balance from either Cunningham or some of the lads that are still on the panel.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm...

Is that allowed even in this context?

    Word is.

Get flight to Vilnious (that's in Wicklow I think). Then transfer to Cork. Avoid border controls. flight to London from Cork then Knock and train. Get off at Portlaoise. And even if its Carlow there has to be some horse drawn transport.

And they say we don't travel....

    Funny ! :D

One of the interesting factoids that came out of all the 1916 hoopla was in a documentary of how the Easter Rising affected sport at the time. Cork were due to play a game in Dublin the following weekend. Due to martial law being imposed, the trains were all cancelled & the local Brigadier General told them to sod off when they asked for a pass to travel up by road. So what did they do? They got the mailboat from Cork to Swansea, got the train up to Liverpool and then the mail boat from Liverpool to Dublin. Same again to get home. Now THAT is dedication !

Well avoiding the Brits would not have been a problem in Carlow or Laois!

    And oh yeah....they lost btw.

The Langers that is, not the Brits.

Such a shame too and after all that hard work to get there. :D

League game in Kerry switched to Tralee on Saturday 18th March. Damn it. Hotels booked in Killarney.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,088 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

    What was the reason?

It's from the master fixture list thread on here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,569 ✭✭✭✭ProudDUB

Awww.... so no Kerry sour puss faces to clap us out onto the pitch, for our first home game of the season then? That's the bad thing about winning Sam in an even numbered year. Mind you, it's the only bad thing ! :D

But in the meantime, anyone for strawberries?

    O'Byrne Cup fixtures are out.

Dublin v DCU, Sunday, Jan 8.

Dublin v UCD, Wed, Jan 11.

Wexford v Dublin, Sunday, Jan 15.

    Semi Finals, Sunday, Jan 22.

    Final, Sunday, Jan 29.

We'll be lucky to get out of the group, given that the squad will be off on the team hollier in January.
