    Ah. That's not quite correct.

He didn't pay sparring partners as far as i'm aware. He paid for all of them (of course) to fly out, to stay in a luxury gaf and not put their hand in their pocket for the entire camp.

I don't think he actually paid them to train.

All expenses paid trip is paying them.

Jesus how you managed to twist that around is amazing

Any man that needs a sparring partner for trash talk is well and truly mentally destroyed. In hindsight, I'm not sure Aldo stood much of a chance in that fight given his mental state.

Now that I think of it, didn't Condit do the same for the Diaz fight? I think I remember reading that somewhere.

    Not really

If he was paying them he would have had to fly them out and give them a wage - if your a builder and I want you to build me a house in spain ill have to fly you out and them pay you too. Not the same!!

    This ^

All i meant was he didn't pay for their flights, board and food and hand them over 7 grand a man for 8 weeks work.

I'm basing that off what Peter Queally said. I've no proof.

Wolves are circling for me in here now! :D

Must be more prevalent than I thought then. When I heard about Aldo doing it, I laughed tbh, but I suppose some guys just like to get a close simulation of fight night itself, which is understandable.

Certainly didn't work for Hosay though! :pac:

Not circling. If you get a builder out do you stop him putting his hand in his pocket for the duration and give him a wage aswell?

    really? you sure?

The only lads out of Xtreme who would fit that mould are Evan Dunham and John Alessio. Pretty sure they are both 5'11.

    Didn't hear they were out.

Got any link to show this?

Id say most do it to get a feeling for height and reach, orthodox and southpaw or different fighting styles

If you're my mam then defo she'd have them well fed with biscuits, sandwiches and tea :pac:

All the lads McGregor flew out with him are his friends and team-mates. None of them are going to sit down and ask for a wage from him. They were all grateful to be there to help him. Who wouldn't want a free summer in Vegas?

As opposed to him sitting them all down saying right i'll pay you €37.50 an hour or €1,480 a week and it's €500 a man a week for rent, sign this contract.......

I really like that Kavanagh pops in here pure casual like. Good to keep it like that too (an AMA or the like would attract attention and ruin it!). Ireland is the best country in the world for being famous as people just leave you the hell alone. Needs to work on punctuation though. :D Also, would be interesting to be fed some tidbits on camp or some insights on MMA etc.

I'd be surprised if lads being flown in weren't paid. A man's gotta eat, well and good being put up for free but the bills build at home if you're there or not

Nope. No pay. In mcgregor land there are no bills. And getting an all expense paid trip with spending money doesnt count as pay either

That seems a bit pants. A mate asks me to fix a car for them, sure I'll charge less but I gotta eat

It's not really. It's like getting a nice company paid work trip but the company doesn't pay you any salary. It's not the same as getting paid.

Any of the lads that i knew that went over were well looked after for there time; one or two didnt paid there own flights though.

I've had both types done to me and the type Conor uses are far worse.

Sushi is anything wrapped in vinegared rice. It can be fish, cooked or raw, meat, veg... anything.
Lots of people misunderstand it to only be raw fish but that's not true, sushi is not defined by the other ingredients, only by the vinegared rice.

Something that people also think of as sushi is thin slices of raw fish (or sometimes raw meat) on their own. While often served with sushi, this is technically a different dish called sashimi.

And you are wrong, sushi is delicious! :)

How can you not love the Conor McGregor thread?

    Be honest :D

Where else would you get in depth, nuanced discussion of hunting wild animals, the impartiality of a stoner commentator, debate over what constitutes payment of sparring partners, whether to refer to an athlete by their first name or surname and a culinary sushi debate in the space of 1 page?

It'll get even better when he announces his semi-retirement, Dee's pregnancy, a wedding date, a straight-to-DVD training routine and the opening of a new Yamamori in Crumlin :)

    TIL

Good friend is actually a sushi chef and often when we are drinking at his house he'd bring back sushi with smoked salmon, tuna and mackarel and then chicken teryaki which would always be the first gone because the rest of my friends are troglodytes.

I'd always thought that the chicken was just something to appease western palates. At least now I know he's not a charletan

The Little Lady with no phone is at 2:02 for anybody who claimed it was a cynical publicity stunt.

She's there trying to get his attention.

They are doing it from the start.

He says to the nurse/radiographer that his next fight is in 5 weeks on saturday.

So that was filmed September 17th. ish.

And they'll bring us through the whole camp that way.
