Looks good to me. I'm not getting too excited until I found out how it performs in the real world. I love the idea though.

It does the processing alright, it might be a case that it downclocks when on the go (with the lower resolution) and cycles up again when docked connected to the TV, with a power supply available. Still all speculation at this stage

That was the conclusion we had come to, if the screen is only 720p it should be fine given its size

    So its cartridge based anyway:

I wonder will there be a 3DS emulator in it!! :p

Yes, I never once in my entire life enjoyed local multiplayer…

Goldeneye, original Mario Kart, there's been so many great local multiplayer games.

I have a suspicion that people like me with a physical library of WiiU titles is going to out of luck when it comes to backwards compatibility, and only those downloaded from the eShop will be available.

At least it looks similar enough to a Wii U to an uninterested spouse who'd be none the wiser if you went out and bought one for yourself and put it in place of the Wii U.

And, if you can't see what's great about that Nintendo Switch teaser, then you probably haven't watched it properly, as there is more innovation in that short film than the PS4 and XB1 combined.

    Best Quote Yet!!!

I thing best part of this innovation is its real simple innovation and not some gimmick!
Console gaming on the go and multi player is promoted with ease of use with detachable controllers!
    • 3DS Emulator be cool as would some way play old Wii U Games or discounts off ports.
    • Also its surely has a touchscreen?
    • Could be nice Tablet to watch movies on too?
    • Any pics of the Ports to charge it, but cool if had USB_C!

I can't see it personally. It would mean that the device has a touch-screen, which they showed zero sign of in the trailer.

Still trying to verify it but a bit more info on the Switch. Interesting is the region free and SD card support (does that mean games come on SD or as an optional storage medium).

Feels like a continuation of the Wii U's screen-to-screen continuity but not being limited to your gaff.

Jesus, I know how great local multiplayer is, I've played it plenty in my time. I'm saying the version shown in the trailer with the two sides of the controller being used as mini controllers that looked designed to give normal human hands excruciating cramps within minutes in front of a really small screen looks like no fun at all to me.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't a touch screen. Multi-touch (capacitive touch, as opposed to resistive touch like the DS/3DS/Wii U) screens are MUCH cheaper now than they were. If it's 720P, it shouldn't add too much to the cost, and as the console isn't streaming the picture to the controller, as in the Wii U, it should be much more straight forward too, so wouldn't incur the same expense as the Wii U controller did.

With regard to the SD card capabilities, that'd be on-board storage expansion, rather than the games coming on SD card. Same as with the 3DS. Will probably have the ability to add HDD storage via USB ports on the dock.

Not all about the power and graphics, wouldn't full gameplay on the go mean more to you than Links ass being a little shinier

    Not my point,
I can't see third party devs supporting a device and attempting multi format titles if the spec isn't in line or at least close go the competitors

But that's already going to be happening the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One Scorpio. Alot of it will be down to how their development tools scale, but running on a Nvidia chipset, I'd be fairly sure that the architecture would be close to x86.

The console seems better than I expected.
The lineup was definitely aimed at existing PS4/XB1 owners.

If it does get into the living room, it has potential to really hoover up 3rd party software sales.

I've set some funds aside for getting Skyrim on Xbox One next week. Now, I think I can't justify it.

Even with the graphics edge that Scorpio and PS4 Neo software should have, I'd be leaning to the version that is guaranteeing me full gaming on the go (and not some solution based on being on your local network, buying more components, and having amazing broadband speed).

Same thought stuck me with the NBA 2k17 footage. This could be the go-to version. And for people who actually have friends, so much the better!

What's the black block in the middle of the controller, just part of the holder/charger station?

As so many games cross the PC/PS4/XONE boundary, it's a bit of a null argument, it'll depend on how easy it is to develop for

Probably just to make it more comfortable to hold

Think it's just a holder, and with the LEDs, it probably has some circuitry in it to 'tell' the Joy-Con's that they're in full controller mode and/or indicate battery level in them.

It looks HDMI shaped to me.

Time will tell but I think it's a clever move by Nintendo. Put mobile games on it and it's a good buy for a kid that want's a tablet and therefore a gateway for them to the better real games. Fingers crossed. This generation needs Nintendo more than ever.

We'll probably get a full Direct on it soon, where more beans (but probably not all just yet) will be spilled.

My nieces and nephew probably use tablets more than the DS or consoles combined. I think it's a great business move.

Why choose a console that will probably cost €300 or so for a kid that wants a tablet that you can pick up for €100?

So you can double down on your justification when the other half asks "didn't you just buy a PS4 Pro?"
