ballygunner a goal down to abbeyside with 15 mins to go and lights fail, so game abandoned. Who pulled the plug ? 😆😆😆🙌

Abbeyside looked comfortable in front. Chance gone you would think. The gunners were extremely poor. Can't see a repeat next Sunday.

Why they needed to play this game under lights I have no idea, Abbeyside must be raging with this situation.

Rescheduled fixture set for next Sunday 9th October at 5pm and free in on the gate. Is it set for Fraher field again? A double header with DLS v Mount Sion wouldve been good. Any word on details of that replay?

Why they now need to replay the full game again also defies logic... They should play a 15 min game plus whatever injury time the ref recorded and Abbeyside start with a 3 point advantage. Whats the issue with that?

Bit of a surprise in the west Intermediate hurling quarter final with Brickeys beating Ballysaggart 2-17 to 2-12

    Semi Finals look like;

    Modeligo v Brickeys
    Shamrocks v Lismore

Any report on the intermediate games? Heard ballysaggert had two sent off

Tough on one of Ballygunner/Abbeyside/De La Salle/Mount Sion who could have to play for a further 4 weeks in a row (after coming off playing 3 weeks in a row)

    Oct 9th- QF replay
    Oct 16th- Semi final
    Oct 23rd- final
Oct 30th- Munster QF vs Tipp champions

Of course the 2 winners of the replays might be paired off with Dungarvan and Passage (who get a week off) in the semis and both suffer defeat.

It's hard to see any senior Waterford club team do well in Munster, it's a nightmare of a draw (Tipp champs away in the Qf and possibly then the Clare champs in the SF)

Any match reports from the weekends games?

Anyone know when they're doing the draw for the 2017 provincial championships? They usually do them in October each year.

Great reading the Under 21Team of the Year on Newstalk's Off The Ball programme. Numbers 1-7 announced tonight, the rest tomorrow. Out of 1-7 we have Jordan Henley on goal, Conor Gleeson corner back, Daragh Lyons full back, Micheal Harney No. 5 and Aussie Gleeson No. 6. Looking forward to tomorrow's announcements where we will surely dominate the forwards as well.

Theyre dragging the a***e out of it to be fair.

But you have to credit Bord Gais Energy for really getting behind this competition. Some brilliant clips on social media going around of some scores from the u21 competition throughout the year. Its a good way of showcasing the game of hurling, god knows the way the game is gone at senior level there's not much to showcase

Any enquiry into the power failure or will we be all left in the dark again ???
Lucky all power bets were over 60 mins I guess

Pretty embarrassing for the co board either way. At least the Mt Sion v DLS draw means entire championship wasn't held up as a result of it

Only eight? I guess it's good of them to give some charity awards to the diddy teams.

I'm sorry, I've waited decades to be able to say something like that.

Who else should be there? One or two very lucky to be nominated?

I thought hahessy was unlucky, thought he played better than Lyons overall

Agree with you Hahessy had a very solid year and was definitely more consistent than Lyons. I think he's very lucky to get in ahead of his teammate.

Imagine Gleeson could win 6 awards this year, amazing

Deserves them all but think he will get ypoty not poty

Hope he stays grounded and if he needs to take a small bit of time off as he may be a busy man after he is given his awards than so be it.

So Davy gone to Wexford and Dały looks to be heading back to Clare. Next year is going to electric

Davy good for 2 years max, he will grind out some results but nothing special ,would love to see Wexford at the top table hoefully he can build a youth platform and in about 5 years something might happen

Congrats to Stephen Bennett who was named the BGE under 21 hurler or the year

Hopefully we see him staring in the senior forward line for years to come

Ballinameela beat Ardmore 3-18-3-16 in the western intermediate relegation playoff. Sad to see a good hurling club like Ardmore relegated to junior for 2017

It ended 1-18 a piece in the first of the western Intermediate semi finals between Modeligo and Bricky Rangers. The second semi final between Shamrocks and Lismore takes place 2morrow

The senior QF replays between Mount Sion vs DLS and Ballygunner vs Abbeyside take place 2morrow

The west is very competitive in intermediate.

Delighted for Stephen. He's had a tough run of it with injuries over the years. Does anybody know the exact situation with his hips these days? Did the operations fix the problems or is it always going to be an issue?
