Untrue, there is scandals going on as we speak, head in sand if ya like but...

    Not related to industrial schools.

Obviously there's a scandal of one sort or another going on, there is in every little town and city around the world.

Unlikely - they seem to think they died days apart.

Very sad story. I sincerely hope Joe doesn't somehow butcher it.

It seems to be a case of the first brother who died ran the house, made the meals etc and generally looked after the other brother. He died of natural causes a good while back and the other brother was unable to look after himself.

I referred to Ireland being a shíthole due to all these scandals, we have more than your average scandal for a country of 4.5 million, I wish it was very very different of course

Of course, it might be that others are better at covering it up.
I don't know if that's a good thing - on balance, I'd say no, as a cover-up culture sucks everybody in and the corrupters / corruptees just get bigger and bolder.
There are times when a rabid pack of press hounds punting more old shoyte can actually be useful, in a tabloid muck-raking way. It all depends whose cheque book they're on that week, so they're just as corrupt as anyone else, I suppose.
Ah, freedom; doncha just luv it?

I don't think we have more scandals than other countries. On a European level we are far better than Italy, Greece, France, Spain etc and way better than Eastern Europe.

I lived in Germany for most of the 90s, started on sites and ended out as a researcher for a TV production company. The level of corruption there is staggering at times, and that in a country with a reputation for honesty (the average German is spot on in my experience).

If you want proof you need to look at the rise of Angela Merkel. She only got involved in politics in December 1989, but just over 10 years later she was leading the CDU.

Why? Because every politician ahead of her was involved in one of 4 big scandals and because she wasn't involved in anything in the 80s, she was effectively the only clean person left there.

They have nepotism, political avarice, construction corruption, tax evasion, human rights abuses, and much more, much of which is covered up or ignored by media mogul monopolies.

So, we strive to be better in Ireland and yes, we have our faults, but we're nowhere near the worst by a long shot.

News at 1 seems to be wrapping up early, are we getting an apology or just a long ad break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,730 ✭✭✭TheHomeService

I'm guessing that Joe will commence proceedings with:

"Condolences, Maura. It was Monday. What happened?"

Maybe not but I'll cry if this call goes on for more than 5 minutes.

Them daughters of the devil never had a child without a bearth cert as they would not have got the full grants and government money for the child!

If they told Anne she had no bearth cert it was to stop her knowing who her mother/father were.
