Is Joe trying to do a hatchet job on combine insurance.

They're a big American company, they won't take his guff.

    THat's for the fearmers

Farmers are another big American insurer, originally set up for farmers by farmers, hence the obvious name.

What are they on about? Critical illness policy is like car or house insurance. Do these people think that it's a savings scheme?

Only pays your savings if you kick the bucket!

Well unfortunately some of the Combined salesmen might have allowed the notion that is was an investment scheme to go unchallenged.

They were always considered a real shower of chancers.

That's the impression I got but as I've never had to deal with a policy of that type so wasn't sure.

The premiums are probably tiny in the single digits per month.

Well it's a bit of a hybrid. Multiple years of contribution are reflected in higher payouts.

They're stupid schemes, though. More sensible to invest the same amount in some bog-standard managed fund.

    But would it though?

Does death count as a critical illness for the purposes of insuredance?

I'd have thought you'd have to have life assuredance for that?

Surely by definition you'd have to be alive to be suffering from a critical illness?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,829 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

It's EXACTLY the same as some car insurance companies not covering cars over 20 years old.

No surprises listening to the central bank ruling there.

A critical illness policy pays out X amount in the event of the policy holder suffering from one of a range of illnesses named in the policy.

    Life insurance totally different.

Combined Insurance is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the expansion of its market presence in some of the areas with the largest Spanish-speaking populations in the nation. Last year, the company announced the New Latino Zone that includes Puerto Rico, Florida, Illinois, Texas, California, and Arizona.

Great minds think alike, and fools seldom differ. Joe just said what I was gonna say, why don't they have 3 or 4 people who had critical cover and had drawn down a benefit from it. ( I don't wanna hear Insurance Company employees masquerading as policyholders)

Is Critical cover the same policy as a Personal accident policy.

I admire that girl who mis-sold me the policy.

She must have been a looker.

I'd like a refund on my car insurance, Joe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,829 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

WHY DE FOOK WOULD THEY REFUND THE MONEY?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Why does he want compensation? If the fines were to be used for anything let it be used to maintain cover for the rest of the current policy term.

what planet do these people live on?

They paid for their cover....they got it. The company is allowed to close schemes if the law and agreements signed allow

if nothing happened you in the time of the premium you should be entitled to it all back, even if you missed a couple of payments
