I just hope we can match their intensity levels and workrate and that we dont get stage fright. I reckon we will need to be 5 points up with 5-10 minutes left in order to scrape over the line.

However it would seem to me that Tipp have a lot more steel this year and never say die attitude. They have to say right lads we are finished losing to Kilkenny and always being the bridesmaids. Every Tipp player should be filled with rapture at the thought of facing them on Sunday and setting the record straight.

I'm hoping for a munster triple crown limerick tipp and waterford

Reports of a few injury concerns in the under 21 squad anyone here anything ???

Havent heard of any new injuries. Shane Bennett played with his club last weekend so hopefully he should be good to start next Saturday. This panel will have had almost a full month together since the seniors were beaten with their sole focus being the u21, allowing for 1 round of senior club. Should put them in a good place heading into the game

Actually don't care who wins on Sunday, Tipp fans are far too arrogant in my experience, i'd find it pretty funny if they loose on Sunday, if they win fair play to them and i'm not going to start shouting for KK anytime soon, just hope it's a great game.

It's like asking if I would prefer to die by drowning or strangulation!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 683 ✭✭✭conditioned games

When your own team is not playing that makes you a neutral, therefore nobody is drowning or strangling you. South Kilkenny supporters are the most distasteful and arrogant based on experience but they do deserve their success from focusing on and mastering the one sport. For the sake of keeping the competition interesting it could do with a different team winning it.

I would be of the thinking that you put your club away for your county and your county for your province but thats just me

Tipp were the best team in the country this year. Well deserved. Wouldn't be worried about losing to the Cats now as we would have hardly held Tipp today. Hopefully we can improve and have a crack at it next year.

Let's hope we will be celebrating next Saturday night and the under 21 title will be staying in Munster

Well done to Tipperary glad we have a new winner

I can't wait for us to be drawn against Tipp in the Munster first round next year when the draw is made in October! :pac:

First Munster championship game to be played in the new stadium in Cork too

A run in the qualifiers might not be too bad for us next year. Anyway way too early to be talking about that yet

Jamie Barron and Austin Gleeson picked in the Sunday game team of the year. Aussie missing out on Sunday game player of the year

Who knows, but the best team in the country this year won the AI so there's no arguments about that. The challenge for Tipp now is to put back to back All Irelands together and they will be well hungry for it. People saying there is an All Ireland in us over the next few years maybe so but it won't be handed to us. KK's dominance I think is finally on the wane but they will always be there or thereabouts. Clare will be back imo if they change manager. Limerick are coming aswell if they get Anthony Daly as manager as rumoured it could be a big coup. It's going to be fierce competitive.
I'm confident we can do the business Saturday night. An U21 AI would be a big boost for the county and the lads themselves. Its important to carry that winning mentality forward into the future onto senior level. The minor win did wonders for these lads in 2013 but we need to kick on to another level if we are to crack that 'big 2' of Tipp and KK which so far we haven't been able to do.

Aussie missing out on Sunday game player of the year

No but can't argue with Callinan either

I'd agree we'll get 2, possibly 3. Gleeson a shoe in of course

I reckon there is a chance to make a few quid on the other one in the PP market.

    Gleeson is 1/100 and unbackable

Next shortest Waterford player is Connors at 4/1 followed by Paudie at 13/2. Moran and Barron both 10/1.

Considering most likely ones are odds on it is a matter of getting the likely Waterford second All Star.

Think that Moran and Barron in the middle are fantastic value at 10/1

Barron was still 10/1 yesterday morning. Into 1/2 now after getting the second Waterford spot on Sunday game team of the year.

Maybe with 27 All Ireland wins they have a reason to be arrogant. I am 55 years old and have never in my lifetime seen us bring the cup home.We were miles off Tipp in the Munster final . Sometimes I think that you're better off looking inward and saying we're not quite good enough. I know we have one of the most outstanding young hurlers in the country but Tipperary have 8 or 9 of them . Imagine how good Aussie could be in their team.

In what manner of twisted world would you want to be imagining that?

Fair play to Tipp, well deserved. Everyone on the panel should get a year's supply of Bulmers. Have a large bottle each day, lads. No, two bottles. Ye've earned it.

Watching the minor final yesterday was unbelievably irritating. To beat that Tipp team and then lose to Limerick. Christ. That should be another minor all ireland

Means nothing. You know what minors can be like. Was probably more of an off night for Tipp the night we beat them. Don't forget we were also beaten by Cork in the opening round so can have no complaints

Hard to argue with Barron. Thought he had a great year and was very impressive. Even in Munster final I was impressed by him. If I knew he was those odds I would have lumped on.

Dont think so. Think Waterford would have been out to right a few wrongs from Munster final and motivation and revenge on their minds would have probably served up a decent display. Up to yesterday I would have said that I thought the munster final was an aberation and was not an accurate reflection of Waterford. But then Tipp blew Kilkenny to pieces and it wasn't far off being a 16 or 17 point hammering. So who knows.

What is true is that other teams haven't gotten over the whole aura of Kilkenny and have played with fear and paranoia. Yesterday changes all that going forward. Waterford have to get a championship win over Kilkenny sooner rather than later. I think we could be seeing an era like that the late 80's dominated by Galway and Tipp. I would hope Tipp could win 2 or 3 of the next 5 All Irelands with maybe Galway winning one and Kilkenny winning one. Cannot see Cork competing at all and their odds of 25-1 with Paddy Power to win the AI in 2017 tells you everything you need to know about the state of Cork hurling.

Approach needs to change. Yesterday showed the proper way to win hurling matches.

First place to start for Waterford next year, scrap the sweeper system and move TDB back to full back. Needs to happen if were ever to beat Tipp or KK

True. I think the main thing is that it shows we're on the same level (or at least no better or worse) as the likes of Cork, Tipp and Limerick. At least it's not like ~10 years ago when we used to be bet out the gate against these teams.

The great levelling is nearly here. Tipp were a cut above everyone else this season - yes, Galway gave them a right rattle but would anyone put money on Galway if they played again in the morning? - but it would take a Codyesque effort on the part of Michael Ryan to get the same level of commitment out of them next year. Speaking of Cody, he will still be here and Kilkenny will still be there or thereabouts thanks to him, but the linen is being wrung dry. Flinging guys into the All-Ireland final for their Senior debut is no longer an act of genius but one of desperation. Either way, 2017 is going to be epic.
