One of the British badminton lads is wearing an apple watch while playing. How does he not find that so annoying. I'd actually love to WhatsApp him right now.

I thought we all agreed Near the start of this thread that hockey isn't a sport!

You must've missed the meeting where we all agreed to give up on sport after the Conlan fight and watch hockey instead ;)

Very much deserved too. Clear interference from the Brazilians in the actual race although not intentional so it's fair they got another shot at it .

I watched Ireland v. Argentina and was so disappointed with my first live hockey match in years. Not a patch on hurling

I quite like Dan Walker presenting the Olympics from the Copacabana beach on BBC Four.

He regularly interviews passersby and binmen cleaning up the beach, and anyone else who wanders into shot.

A few nights ago his live presentation was invaded by a Brazilian Hen Party. The following night he had a chat with the Mother of the Bride-to-be live on air, and she invited him to the wedding.

If Richard Curtis has been watching, a RioRomCom is probably already in development.

Edit: Here's Dan and the Girls

The only thing that puzzles me about Bolt is that he's running far slower times at 29 than he was at 21 and 22.....he's done things completely in reverse to the usual way

First ever Olympic medal secured for Jordan tonight. In Takwando

He won Gold in the end. A lot of countries winning their first Olympic Golds this year:
Bahrain, Vietnam, Kosovo, Fiji, Jordan, Puerto Rico and Singapore.
It was also the first time the Independent Olympic Athletes team won a gold as well. It was a Kuwaiti shooter who won the gold. Kuwait have not won a gold medal before.
In the case of Jordan, Fiji and Kosovo it was their first ever medal.

Here since when is Puerto Rico a country?

A long time, population of around 3.5/4 million or so, unless you're talking about the Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria.

It's not though, it's a US Territory, like Guam, or the US Virgin Islands

Michael Johnson on BBC the other night was saying Bolt has scoliosis, which is getting harder to manage - its more difficult for him to train now than it was earlier in his career. Could explain it

The US Virgin Islands also have a team at the Olympics.

Not debating that, just clarifying that Puerto Rico is not a country

Like PR is a great spot, don't get me wrong. But in real terms it has significantly less independence then Scotland for example.

Since Americans don't like admitting that they have colonies.

Yeah there's one athlete about 20 seconds ahead of a group of about 10 which contains Rob.

is anyone watching this on RTE News now?

Just turned it on now, George Hamilton and the other commentator who's name escapes me (used to do Sunday Sport on Radio 1) spent about 5 mins waffling about song lyrics, Georges pet dogs, basically anything but the race! I reckon the lads are still locked from last night. Or maybe just bored out of their trees.
