Can't understand this crap of people thinking they have to be loyal to one insurance company saved €400 by shopping around this year my grandfathers insurance went up this year too and he wouldn't drive 20 miles a week a year either I told him I could shop around for the best quote and he said no because it's our local broker he deals with seems a bit stupid where a 90 year old just driving to mass on Sunday in a 1.0l is paying nearly as much as a young male driver under 24 with one years no claims in a 1.3 car

    Better living everyone

I'm in a group that's getting a good discount, haven't been able to get a better quote because of that....still two years left in that deal.
OH as regularily priced around for her car and finds that better prices usually has less cover but again the group disc brings her back

Try being a returning citizen (or other immigrant)... 25 years no claims, hilux €3,500.

    Gotta love our competitive markets.

So the rest of us are expected to pay through the nose to subsidise your group discount...No thanks. Had a serious discussion with the local area manager, he got very quite when I told him a few home truths. 40 years I was with fbd and they try to ride you,

Great to get a chance to see some of the minority sports. As long as the networks show them!
Always found the Archery and Target Shooting strangely compelling.

Plenty of purchasing groups out there, all getting serious discounts in all products, it isn't just the factories that make the small operators pay for the larger ones
Have to say that i get great value in veterinary stuff without being in a group

Got a letter this morning from a group called pure energy solutions approaching us about an outside block of ground that they could put solar panels on. Anyone get letters like it before ?

Know nothing about it but there is a 4.5m euro solar farm going up outside mullingar shortly

David, there are a lot of grid applications for solar in the country at this stage.
Each of these is generally under 5MW. This is predicated on the belief that the Govn't will give a good price for smaller projects. This is about 25 acres.
Quite important is how near you are to a substation. Most looking for 2Km max.
Rent offered tends to be about €1K/acre/year.
I am worried about the glut. It could end up the same as the wind applications, taking 10 years to process. Mad stuff.
Most Co's approach landowners directly. Letter seems a bit of a fishing exercise.

If you have any queries, David PM me, no problem.

I have about 18nr 50kg bags of both 18.6.12 and 24. 2.5 10 left..... is it worthwhile putting out at this stage? Suckler farmer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,632 ✭✭✭✭Water John

Oh yeah, plenty of response. the sooner the better. Depending on how much ground you have, up to 1.5 bags/acre.
If you had a strongish field you could go heavier and take a cut md sept.
Depends on your needs but plenty response.

Thought you might have an interest in the Women's Beach Volleyball

Remember young lad giving out about it at Olympics 8 years ago . Slightly surprised, I asked why. There are only two on each team he said. :)

    Women's Beach Volleyball.
True athletes. The bravest of the brave.
Fighting it out to the bitter end, wearing only two handkerchiefs and a pair of shorts designed for a 10 year old.
Compared to our golfers, covered up from neck to heel in the scottish plaid equivalent of a Burka, in a colour range picked by Stevie Wonder.
And which group is scared of the midges?
