Surprised at how empty stadiums are, rugby sevens was same earlier, only about 1/3 filled.
You'd imagine people would like to go in and watch any sport that was on. Jenus I was watching fencing earlier.

Irish lad reportedly arrested outside a stadium for touting tickets, you'd think he was doing them a favour getting a few more bodies in...

Not sure about the ones in Rio but I looked at pricing tickets for some events in London games. Very expensive imo, low income locals might not be able to afford it. Put that with the queues being talked about where people are missing events they had tickets for and not as many travelling with zika/crime rates in the city and that could be your answer.

I think I heard that they were giving away free tickets to locals to help fill the stadiums.

Someone was telling me last night that under their farm insurance package their 13 year old is insured to operate machinery, is this true? I was under the impression that you needed a licence to be insured?

Well that nearly ended in disaster. Had to pull him and got the head out handy enough but got locked on the hips for an age after that. Don't know how he's still alive because I have seen a few to go with less pressure. Cow is wobbly but ok. Should definitely have been a section.

That would be quite unusual I'd have thought.

Saw a video on YouTube a while back. An American guy. He was making the point that you should always leave the calf for a while once you have the front legs out. This was to allow the cow to turn the calf at his hips so that it comes out sideways.
If you watch a cow calving normally, they always rotate the calf like this. The cows pelvic opening is always deeper than it is wide.

A cow calving normally will lie down though, allowing the calf to turn naturally. If she's standing up in a crush with a jack hanging off her arse it's almost impossible to wait for the calf to turn or even to manage it.
I dislike the jack though, will always pull myself with ropes while the cow lies where possible. Then I can reverse (beep beep beep:D) while pulling the calf down, not straight out, that usually turns the calf as you pull.

I've seen lads who just pull full force without watching for the cows contractions, they goose themselves far too quick and don't get any benefit from the cow at all.

Ya we rolled the calf, no way he was coming straight. Sometimes the hole just isint big enough though no matter what you do.

How did ye roll the calf?

How did ye roll the calf?

Took the ropes off the Jack when the cow was down, caught his legs and turned the part of him that was out upside down and then turned him back and tried again and he came then. I guess it just turned his hip around a small bit.

Have rolled cows right over on their back a few times when calves were tight. Helps the calf to turn and they have popped out then.

I witnessed my Grandad doing that trick when I was a child. IMO nowdays most sucklers are semi wild and wouldn't tolerate such handling unless they are very sick to calf.
I have seen mares roll when foaling. Years ago I had a problem with one foaling cause the foal was stuck at the hips. I tried pulling by hand but not a chance so I grabbed the calving jack and put the ropes on above the foals knees. It was a intervene/try to do something or loose the foal type situation. Mares don't give you the same time as cows do. A healthy colt foal by Crossdown Dancer was up suckling within the hour and no problems with his fore legs.
