Can you directly battle a friend, trade Pokemon and are the battles old school turn based?

No you can't. Not yet but I've read it will become available. And the battles are messy. Tap the screen like crazy. I did hear turn based may come in

You don't need to spend money, leveling up after 20 is really hard and long and doesn't give as much gain, you can get to 20 in a week or two. It's designed to not let people get too far ahead for new players.

I will never run out pf pokeballs, i throw away hundreds a day.

I did the same. Now level 18 and it's kind of worrying how many I go through for a weedle.

This could turn out to be as big, if not bigger, than Pokemon for Game Boy!

Something odd happens when I turn my location off via Android, it throws me to a pokestop at the Irish life building on Abbey street and just stays static there, think I'll have to get a few lure modules...

Yesterday, lunch time (around 13:30) there was a lure at that Pokestop. Didn't catch anything of much use. There was a lure there again this morning at 10:30. I'm guessing someone is very lucky to have that Pokestop in reach from their desk.
There are 2 Pokestops on the grounds of my work location - unfortunately I can't reach either as my office is in the basement, and GPS is quite flaky as a result.

It's gone crazy here. i went over town at about 11.30 last night and there was about 20 people at every pokestop. this young one shouts at me "There's a fearrow over there". Lures being set off everywhere...

Server issues today, just a black screen so far

i set off a lure yesterday and it was a bit freaky the way people came flying from everywhere

http://pokewebgo.com a French lad from the reddit made a website for where pokemon have been seen to spawn.

I personally like the lapras on Loch Ness and godzilla battle in the Atlantic. Poor auld ireland has no pokemon mapped as yet.

The main complaint I've got about this game is how it doesn't really explain anything to you, at all.

How exactly does it work? Does everyone who plays the game see Pokemon in the same places? And can only one person catch that pokemon?

Yes everyone sees them in the same place unless someone is using incense then only they see them. The only limitation on catching pokemon is time limits, they will eventually despawn, the reason is if only one person could catch each one it could possibily lead to violence with people slapping phones out of others hands so they can catch the pokemon instead

Everyone can see the same pokemon in the same area when a lure is being used. Everyone can catch the pokemon, but they disappear...? If you are using an incense only you can see the pokemon.

Everyone can see and catch wild pokemon if they are there.
I'm not convinced the pokemon are always in the same place though. Eevee spawned twice in my room monday, a psyduck tuesday and a ratatta this morning.

i saw a cp 1615 flareon in the square gym, as the 3rd pokemon in the gym.
so you would walk up thinking you could take it easy and then hit that roadblock.

my strongest pokemon CP is 695 - so thats just so out of my league.

If you can see the gym on your map, select it. You can swipe through the fighters that are there and see tier stats. Save yourself an unecssary walk!

You can battle together with a friend to beat it

Ah right that's better actually. Is the app itself a bit buggy?

Is this game synced across iOS and Android?

Also, what team should I pick? Does it matter? I'm on Android and will mainly be in the city centre and South Dublin area!

I don't think the team you pick really matters all that much, seems to be a more superficial thing than really impacting gameplay.

ideally pick the same as people you know so you can go around with them

If you have friends you'd meet up with playing, I'd suggest joining the same team. It's a bit more fun to work together to topple bigger gyms

You can still fight the other 2 to gain experience and lower the prestige of the gym. And you are using 6 pokemon during the battle so if you got it down to just him you might still have a chance.

Just to get a feel (cause all the buzz about this has me feeling ancient)! What is the average age of poster here playing? People talking about driving so over 17 at least.

I've about 17 years driving experience, so I probably went to the same record hops as you :pac:
