From the sounds of it the game is dropping today, it's just a matter of when. Are we excited yet?

Going by the early reviews on the Play Store, seems to be getting panned for not working on a variety of different phones and for not running on Android N at all.

That's a shame :( I might download the apk later and see if it'll work for me.

Downloaded the APK yesterday, seems fun for awhile but don't know if it will hold my interest. Anyone found any rare Pokes? Not much up in Swords.

Just downloaded the apk and it's playable here!! Or you can wait for the official release

    http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/niantic-inc/pokemon-go/pokemon-go-0-29-0-release/pokemon-go-0-29-0-android-apk-download/

EDIT Doesn't seem to have teams available yet - maybe it's still in beta mode

When you go to a gym at level 5, it asks you to pick a team, there are 3 options.

Downloaded yesterday and played it a good bit. Here's a few tips that I figured out:

Dublin City has a rake of those PokéStops (I think that is what they are called) and Gyms on the North and South sides. I just so happened to be walking around town a lot yesterday evening and deposited some Pokémon in some empty gyms. If you see a Hypno in a Gym in the back of Dublin Castle, that's mine! I also deposited a Magicarp in a gym and it was beaten within an hour. I enjoyed the troll though. It was funny to see the Magicarp floundering on top of the big Gym symbol on the map.

If you go to the online shop after you have deposited some pokémon in a gym, there will be a timer in the top-right corner of the screen that gives you 10 coins for every pokémon you have in a gym every 20 hours or something. Only noticed it this morning and bagged 60 coins.

Incense is used to attract pokémon, so you use it and you get a higher encounter rate for 30 mins. I used one and then hopped on the Luas heading into the city after work. I was barely just able to keep up with capturing them as they popped up. Also, there are a heap of Gyms and Pokéstops on the Green line Luas. I would imagine a bus would work better because it travels slower than a Luas and would be easier managed. Well, in the city anyway. The count steps towards hatching the eggs doesn't seem to increase if you are travelling at speed however.

I haven't found anything too rare yet although there seems to be some Jynxs around the city.

Got myself a charmander of the bat so happy out. Belfast seems well stocked for gyms and pokestops heading to Connemara tomorrow should be interesting

Are Pokemon area specific. Only hmget water types near water normal types in cities and towns grass types in fields etc...

from what I can see, water Pokemon seem to be around rivers and water anyways. I caught a Krappy by a river.

That seems to be the rule but I was picking up some water types away from water too. Maybe it was because I was close to the Liffey by being in the city. I dunno. All I'm saying is you might get lucky away from water too.

Ah feck, I have the M8s too. I'll be fairly bloody annoyed if it can't run it at all.

It is working on a Samsung Galaxy S5 OK if that helps anybody at all. I presume it should work on later generations too.

Working great for me, got myself a Bulbasaur this morning, in work now so will go out for a walk at lunch and see what I can find in Citywest. Already found a Gym next to the shopping centre.

I've an iPhone so I'm waiting for the official release but I'm so excited! I live right in the city centre so I'm looking forward to going on an adventure and visit parts of the city I've never bothered to check out before xD

Hope I'm not going to be too behind all of you with androids who got a head start!

I mainly just downloaded it to see if it would work, I think I'll wait for the proper release before I get into the game in any depth.

    When is the proper release?

Not sure, I'd be expecting it to come out within the next week or so (or hoping at least). The only official stuff lists it as "July 2016".

My workplace is a gym, I'm gonna set up as gym leader.

Loving this. Just installed the APK. Caught a Charmander, Weedle, Ratatta & Venonat without leaving my desk in work. Can't wait to go for a walk later now.

I haven't played a pokemon game since the days of pokemon red/blue,is this game anyway simliar?
Like is there any story to it or battles?
Or do you just go around collecting pokemon?

I don't think there's really a plot as such, it's mainly about collecting them it seems. I suppose the main part of the fun is that you have to physically move around to catch things, so it's pretty different to the standard Pokémon game.

I got charmander as my starter but any pokemon or gym is about a 5 minutes walk from my bedroom. I'm located in kimmage, Dublin 12.

How are people getting multiple pokemon from their office desk? I'll see what I find on my way to the gym later.
