The m18 flyover over the galway to dublin railway line 2 kms south of rathmorrisy 17/06/16

Did they make the bridge wide enough for 2 train lines for future proofing?

Are there landing zones for flying pigs? Seems more likely than CIE dual-tracking the Galway line....

CIE are irrelavent to the topic here. The very fact that the bridges allow for dual tracking is the important bit. Its called future proofing.

While it's highly unlikely in the short to medium term, this motorway will be there for a lot of years. The minimal cost difference to make it wide (and hopefully high enough for electrification) for dual tracking is proper.

When the bridge tie in is complete, that existing road will be gone to make room for the m17

[OT] there's a section of the westbound M6 just east of Kilbeggan that has incorrect levels as well.
When you drive along there the curve has a far steeper "lean" than all the other curves on the motorway, great for 180 kmh driving I would imagine.
