He means tempered glass screen protector. They're much better than the other screen protectors which are just a plastic film.

Screen protector made out of tempered glass rather than plastic film, offers far greater protection against impacts.

Does it not come on the screen?

    I hate all of you!!

Ill probably buy it when the soft gold comes out, even though I can't justify buying it!

No they put a ****e one on it. A thin piece of plastic that would only protect it from very light scratches.

Tempered glass screen protectors saves screens from scratches and shattering (usually).

Seriously tempted to dump my s6 for this.
With the dual Sim set up could you use both at the same time so have my meteor contract Sim and a 3 pay as u go as well. Would allow coverage in a few black spotscreen up the country
Would miss the wireless charging though

If it is like the OnePlus 2 then yes both sim cards work at the same time, both allow calls in and when making a call after pressing dial a pop up comes up asking which number to use, same with text messages.

Guys have you looked into the insurance policy they're offering?

Considerably cheaper than Irish companies, but I don't think they cover theft/loss.

    What are your thoughts?

Reading online loads of over heating problems and the 6GB of ram does not work right at all and huge battery drain problems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,576 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Seriously considering the insurance - only €25 excess too. You're right loss and theft are not covered - not sure if loss is covered by most other policies anyway. Probably the most common type of damage is a broken screen which is going to cost at least €100 for an official repair - 1 years insurance + excess = €70. Of course replacement screens will start to appear on the likes of Aliexpress and these will become cheaper over time and from the looks of a teardown video on youtube it would be a fairly easy job. Having said that replacement screens are never quite as good as original ones and will invalidate your warranty.

Liquid damage is also covered which can often lead to a written off phone.

Not sure whether to go for 2 years cover (€45 vs €75) - will decide when I have the phone as may want to change it after a year. You can buy insurance up to 15 days after purchase so have a bit of time to think about it.

Could always spend the money on an otterbox and tempered glass screen protector. Problem is I don't like bulky cases and tempered glass looks shi*te on 2.5D glass.

    Sources??

My only concern when I ordered mine was a review I seen from I think either android authority or Engadget that said when he went to bed with 100% battery 8 hours later of being on standby the battery had drained by 10-12% but he did say it could have just been his particular review unit, my thinking was that with dash charge I'll never really have to worry about not having enough juice because I can top up quickly enough (I hope) 😛

I got the shipment email on Wednesday but nothing yet from DHL, hope I get it soon!

I noticed aswell when in my orders that my model is EU, anyone the same? I don't remember being given the option for UK, having it shipped here to Ireland, bought thro that loop app

Yeah I got shipment mail yesterday but on myorders page on onepus website still says pending shipment and the ship number I got in mail isnt showing up on DHL tracking.
Be nice surprise if I got it today, more likely early next week though.

    The shipment email from 1+ doesn't contain a ref# only your order#

The text message from DHL with a 10 digit number is their tracking number.

EDIT: Zombie, I'ver re-read the post and it might look like I was giving out to you or something, but I'm not. Just trying to make the other user could find the right tracking number :D

Mine didn't give an option either but my order says UK. I ordered couple of hours after launch and still have no email.

Odd, my mail doesn't contain that last line "Shipped by"

EDIT - Myorders has been updated now with shipping number.
Currently in East Midlands UK, estimated delivery Monday. :)

I do apologise, it appears I've been made to look quite the fool! :D

My mail didn't have that last line on it, so the first time I saw DHL's ref was when they text me with it :)

Cheers folks. Yea my orders was updated there, checked tracking number and it arrived in Dublin this morning around 9am, would be class if we got it today, really looking forward to this piece of kit

    Short teardown video here:

I've replaced 2 OPO screens for friends - this looks a lot easier. If you watch the full video there's a bit of charging info too.

My order says "uk" a few of the ones above here say "EU" - I wonder will you get EU plugs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,576 ✭✭✭digitaldr

I'm pretty sure there was no UK option in the loop app. I'm hoping we will all get UK chargers as from what I've seen on the oneplus forums mainland Europe orders ship from Poland.

Edit: found this one oneplus site

We stock region-specific chargers in our regional warehouses, and alternative versions are not available. However, all our power adapters are compatible with 100-240V (50-60Hz) power outlets, and you can use yours internationally with a converter.

So looks like we'll be ok.

I read online also the software is not utilising the 6gb ram, that should be sorted out on the coding side of things with future updates so I would not worry about it. The phone on first release is gonna have a few bugs like the OnePlus 2 which were sorted out for the most part. I still love my Oneplus 2 despite ordering the Oneplus 3. As for the Oneplus 3 over heating? Didn't read anything about that to date.
