Great episode this week, but what is the deal with the alternate ending? I know there is a vote on it & the results are to be announced next Wednesday but what was the point? I doubt that they have two episodes lined up ready to play next week depending on which ending wins. And they were significantly different enough that there would have to be two episodes.
In one pregnant Meg wakes up, and in the other her mother? kills her (or at least tries to) and Veronica gets blamed.
I also thought the alternate ending was pretty stupid.

In the episode I absolutley loved the
    Weevil on the flagpole
    and
Weevil and Logan's fight in the bathroom.

Haven't watched the episode - been away since first thing Thursday morning but sitting down to watch the episode and alternative ending in a moment.

Along with Wednesday's episode of 'Lost' - happy days for me! :D

Report back tomorrow morning with my opinions of the episode and alternative ending - Ain't It Cool News were hyping up the episode earlier this week saying it was a truly fantastic episode.

Oh Veronica.. what have you done?! :(

The first episode since episode 15 of the 1st series (titled 'King Of The Bling'.. if i remember correctly) that i really didn't like!
Was expecting some amazing plot revelation to blow me away. And well.. the Meg pregnant storyline really didn't do it for me! And also the whole Trina - Cecile Kane storyline just seemed too far-fetched to me. Seemed like they just tried milking a bundle of twists into an episode that it just felt ridiculous!

And the alternative ending was absolutely terrible -!

Maybe i'm being harsh - maybe it was all the hype Aint-It-Cool-News gave it. Will give it another watch tomorrow and see if i change my mind.

But on the upside - a solid enough script in terms of jokes and one-liners this week - but every week of VM is. And also loved
Logan's and Weevil's fight in the bathroom... and also the little homage to how we met Wallace in the pilot for the series
    - those two scenes were brillant stuff!

PS - anyone think the theme tune sounded very sped up this week?

Oh and go here and click Veronica Mars on the bottom of the right hand side.

    You can watch:
    - next week's pre-credits opener
    - next week's promo (next week looks excellent but quite a spoilerific promo)
    - a 45 minute talk show between Rob Thomas and Kristin Veitch (quite possibly the most irritating interviewer ever to walk Planet Earth though!)

Does anyone have a link to the stream for the alternate ending on AOL as I cannot download torrents on the college network.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭digiman

Its ok, i am after finding it on Easynews. Don't know why I didn't look there before I posted.

Well that ending is a bit mad to say the least, that would change the whole course of the series I would imagine if that won. I think I would nearly vote for the alternate ending just to see how they could manage to go with the story.

as said in that interview with Rob Thomas, the alternate ending had nothing really to do with him, it was originally planned for by the other shows Executive Producer Joel Silver(yes that Joel Silver) for publicity purposes, they knew it was out of continuity, so they tried to figure the craziest most shocking thing they could think that was related to the actual episode, and hence the result, the voting thing is just for kicks.

i have an mp3 version of the interview along with a non streaming version of the alternate ending, and i get next weeks preview and non streamed opening scenes(all streamed free online by upn) every week, which im very happy to upload for people if they so wish.

i got this and next weeks episode mixed up slightly, so i was expecting something in this episode thats happening in next week's....still thought it was fantastic however.
Brilliant to see Trina back, and her scene with Kendall was a buffy's fan dream.
nice little sneakiness by Van Clemmons, using Veronica for his own gains.
even though the ending wasnt that shocking too me, the big question now is whether it's duncan's or not.

yeah i wouldnt mind seeing that alternative ending herobear

hadnt watched any vm for 3 weeks, but i was on a pub crawl on sat & got completely wasted, woke up early & had the last 3 eps of vm to help me get rid of my hangover, it was quite good

some really good episodes, i thought logan really has become one of the best actors on the show, along with weevil, cant wait to see where this is going

2 episodes with mac in them :):):):) lov it

carisma carpenter & alison hannigna need i say more (apart from yum)

ps veronica mars is hot! :)

Last night's episode really did stink!
Everything outside of the court case was good.. but the court case storyline seems to really take up a large bulk of the episode and was too just extremely boring and unimpressive - only highlight of it was seeing The Todd - "High 5!" (for all ye 'Scrubs' fans).

Great to see Wallace back.. will he still be back next week? Probably disappear again! And also the return (and subsequent dismissal) of Deputy Leo (last time i recall seeing him was arresting Logan in the Season 2 pilot). Won't see him again probably.. as Rob Thomas mentioned last week on the interview / talk show that he's his own show on the WB in the US.

And i heard last week someone would die this week... Meg was just far too obvious from her "if anything happens to me" bit at the start!

Seriously in need of a really special episode next... as the last one or two episodes have been BIG disappointments for me!

PS - no more VM til January 18th!

Ah Basquille, you're being a big meanie to VM these last couple of weeks! Last week's was decent and this week.. well it wasn't great but wouldn't call it awful either:
I enjoye the trial bit because it really reminded me of somethng I've been involved with before. Also it's already setup a good enough reason for why VM won't be leaving for college next year. Too many shows ignore this until the end of the season or the start of the college season.

I didn't like Meg dying so quickly. It felt a bit cheap, too much "Yay! I'm back and ali-" *dead*. Also a bit naff after we dismissed the alternate ending, since it somewhat happened anyway.

Didn't like Leo being written out, although it was necessary. Just felt a mean way to get rid of his character. But then they're on cleanup this week!

Great to see Wallace back and loved the way Veronica gave him a much needed hug.

And I want to give a big hug to poor Logan. I kinda liked what he did. His few moments this week were all done well and in character.

As to what's up next? Well the baby's obviously going to featue. Bleh. I want more about the Echolls storyline and more Logan. Lots of Logan. Maybe a Logan only episode again? We still need to find out precisely what happened on the bridge...

he's just jealous that Veronica Mars is so much better than Lost ;)

OK, maybe i was a tad harsh on last week's episode.. enjoyed it more the second time round. But all the hype surround it on a certain AintItCoolNews just buzzed me up for another episode like 'A Trip To The Dentist' - best VM episode ever? Definantly mine!

I'm with you 100% there mate!

The very first time i watched VM he was the one character i identified with.. though being an absolute dick at the start. I really got his character and Jason Dohring is a fantastic little actor - why the hell isn't he in more stuff? If he left VM, i think i'd be tempted to stop watching altogether. The scenes with him all always GOLD!

Hmmm.. i'd almost agree with you there if you had said this to me earlier in the season of 'Lost'

But the last two episodes of VM have been considerably weak while the last 3 (The Other 48 Days, Collision and What Kate Did) of Lost has been very undeniably strong!

And besides.. i've been practically been watching VM from the start and said that 'Lost' and 'Veronica Mars' were the two best shows of last year without a shadow of a doubt.

But if i had to pick who had a stronger first season.. it's undeniably without question 'Lost'... but 'Veronica Mars' had a fantastic first season also.

But enough of this comparison... sick of the need to compare everything to 'Lost' nowadays!

I actually enjoyed this weeks. Not amazing as smoe of the earlier episodes this season, but it didn't stink!
I enjoyed the trial bit,I always like movies or tv shows that deal with trials for some reason. and it just proved and intelligent and great veronica is :D.

Yes,Meg dying was a bit cheap, especially since she had just woken up.

Very happy to see Wallace back! I think him and Veronica make a great team.

Good scenes with Logan as well. And could we have an interesting situation if Aaron Echolls isn't convicted as Keith said? Ummmm...

And yes, please stop comparing stuff to Lost people! :p:D

Now that was a good return for veronica.
    Definately a class episode.
could it be? no more duncan? yay!
the way they played everybody was brilliant, I actually had no idea..
I especially love how sheriff lambe transported duncan over the border... goddamn that was good.
and i expect you all noticed the lost numbers at the very end on the fortune cookie ticket?
    heh cute touch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,667 ✭✭✭madrab

    Very good episode
yeah i noticed them, nice touch

really good episode, but it kinda came from nowhere, there should have been an episode before this where they were worried about the baby, it was only born at the end of the last episode & there was no sense of timescale between the last episode & this

why was the maid helping to steel the baby?
i will be soo happy if duncan is gone for good, he is such a crap character

weevil & logan storyline is getting interesting

great episode. have missed the show a lot.
interesting touch having the lost numbers at the end. The way veronica played everyone, even the FBI agents was great,Lamb is such an idiot, lol, and Veronica played that to her advantage. When I heard a main character was leaving,I was hoping it would be Duncan because he always annoyed me and couldn't really act. Notice he called the baby Lily? :)

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,054 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

    Great episode (again) even if
it was a leeeetle bit of a stretch to feel the whole Duncan thing was planned. Many people on Television Without Pity felt that we should have seen some hints of it, some foreshadowing, to justify this. Interestingly, TWoP got its own shout out here which I - annyoingly - didn't notice, although I did get the "Lost" reference.

I think what I'll take most from this one though is how Keith is so clearly hurt by Veronica's actions. That was excellently done but then we've come to expect that of their relationship.

What has bothered me about this episode is
Celeste's involvement. Was she in on it or not? Vinnie Vanlow was hired by her, supposedly to find Duncan and implicate Veronica. But by the end of the episode we learn that not only Vanlow but also Celeste's assistant were in on the plan to help Duncan take Lily to Mexico.

This gives the impression that Celeste was in on the plan and actively helping them. But if she was intent on helping, why did the Kane's not just sue for custody? They would have had paternity, billions of dollars and Lamb's testimony of abusive behaviour on the part of Meg's parents. (As whatever Lamb may feel about Veronica/Duncan he would have bent over backwards for his dad).

So why would she agree to let Duncan become a fugitive, wanted for kid-napping when he could have in all probability gotten custody and not ruined his life?

That said I'm glad Duncan is gone, though I would have preferred a clean break with him and Veronica. But hopefully now we can see a return to some old style action and an investigation of the bus crash.

    not a bad theory...but
Veronica paid vinnie more than celeste paid him (from the 80 grand)
Why would celeste want the child?by fighting megs parents for custody she'd be inviting more attention her family and thats the last thing she wants..
She never knew duncan would run away.

I actually didn't enjoy 2x11 as much as the rest of you seemed to have, partly because I thought it seemed less neat as Mars mysteries go, and partly because some of the storylines were being forced together.
Wallace's basketballing in Chicago: we had some dialogue with Veronica at the start of the episode, then a Google test mid-way through, also with Veronica, and then a confession later on. But all this while her mind was obviously elsewhere on her scam. It just didn't seem to fit. Neither did the FBI agents to me, and Vinnie's role seemed unclear for yonks. I presume the letter Veronica handed him had details of their new plan.

I agree with Madrab - there was no sense of the time passed between this ep and the one before. Presumably a few days after New Year's, but also not enough for 'Lily' to have been brought home. Did Meg give birth to her naturally or was it a CS after Meg died? No mention of those kinds of details. I also reckon a story concerning the future life of this child might've worked stronger if the Manning mother and father had appeared. (And what did ever happen to Grace? Is she still with them after all that evidence?!)

I did like the song at the end, though, and this does suggest a new direction for the show. Fans should check out the excellent Veronica Mars Talk Show (at http://www.upn.com/upn_video/insider/index.php?page=nav&cat=14) where Rob Thomas featured in December. Only got around to it today; lots of foreshadowing of this ep in it. Must've been filmed around then. Rob Thomas gives a clear explanation as to why we only have Wallace and Jackie in a handful of episodes so far (seems there's a limit on primary cast appearances) - that'd also explain how hard it is to bring back guest stars like the Mannings. (Although did he really need Lucy Lawless, or the FBI characters at all?) And given that an episode of VM is made for a quarter of the cost of an episode of Lost, the budget is probably pretty tight.

Incidentally, big fan Stephen King described it in Entertainment Weekly last week as 'the best unwatched show on television'.

Just watched the last 2 episodes back to back there, both very very good. All the main plots have moved along quite a bit and Veronica was back to some good investigating, its also good to see Wallace back in it again full time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,475 ✭✭✭corblimey

Yeah, the latest episode was pretty good, much better than some of the previous episodes. I like the ongoing
'partnership' between Weevil and Logan - should step up a gear now that Weevil is out of the PCHers
. And they're finally moving forward on the
    bus plot

    Season 2 Episode 12
really good episode last night, even thought not much happened

    some very funny dialogue too
    "i saw her lurking around"
"lurking? oh you mean standing while black" :)

good to see logan trying to be normal & chatting up some blondie (although she looked very young & i wonder if her name will turn out to be murphy :) )

ps yay mac was in it again WOOT, she is slowly creeping up my fav girls on tv but i dont think she will ever top alyson hannigan (did i already say that i love this program :) )
wow i didnt realize how many time i :) 'ed in the thread

    ah well
    :):):)

Just thought I'd try and revive this thread.

    S2 Ep15.

Great episode. We get to see Cliffie, Kendall and Aaron.

The Aaron storyline, the Logan/Felix storyline, the bus-crash storyline and even the Cassidy/Kendall story all get advanced. The m-o-w wasn't the best but I enjoyed
    Vinnie's
    appeareance.

This one definetely had some of the old magic back. I got excited just watching the previouslies. I really hope the end of this series sees Aaron found not guilty of the murder charges, so season 3 can focus on the fall out of that.

I also really want to see Neptune get incorporated so Keith can be cheif of the police and come up against Lamb officially. He really is such a dick.

well that was a great episode (ep 16)
    some really funny moments there
that can be your next campaign slogan -"she's 18- it's legal!"
the bit with the taser...ah class stuff. Nice twisting going on with logans murder case and the fitzpatricks turning into a superleague of evil bastards...
Logan hast acted appalling recently but just as cliche dictates he's fallen for the girl (who wouldn't? she's stunning) she bloody better come back.
bit annoyed that they didn't find the rapist..why didn't veronica suss him out?
    anyway quality episode.
