Metal urges in Tralee, beside the brogue inn on Rock st. Both Marek & Arnas (if he's back from holidays) are really nice guys and do excellent work.

Jack B. Badd - is that Danny Guilfoyle by any chance, red hair and a medusa piercing?

Red hair alright but tbh I didn't notice a piercing...well actually, I noticed lots of piercings but no medusa. Really nice guy and decent piercer from what I can tell :)

Have been there a couple of days ago to have a look cause I'm thinking of getting another tattoo and I have to say that they were sooo unfriendly and arrogant.
Wouldn't dare going there again - first impression counts...

Is Zulu tattoo in templebar a good place to go? I went in there to get a tattoo priced a while back, and it didn't really strike me as a very professional-looking place. Most tattoo and piercing places look like a doctor's office, but zulu is all tribal and wooden. It does look much cooler, admittedly, but wood isn't one of the more easily sterilizable materials... I asked some friends who had got stuff done there, and they were effusive in its praise, mentioning how they change the clingfilm and tinfoil after every customer... How does one sterilize cling film and tinfoil? I'm probably over analysing this, as they are one of the best shops in dublin, but I'd just like some input. Thanks.

Meh. It really depends on who inks you, imo. I mean I had a very simple piece done there and it got screwed up. Messy line work, and just crap ingeneral. And I was overcharged. Big time.

It really depends on what you wanna get done.

Just checking to see what's going on here and I have noticed all you guys are talking about are relatively new studios.

Just want to mention Dragon Tattos Studion that has been in operation for over 20 years, and obviously, considering its time in business oes not need to advertise but anyone serious about a tattoo should go there. It is a family ru business with the owner Bren and his son, nephew and staff all being experts, and widely renowned amongst serious tattoists for skill, cleanliness and being very professional. You are unlikely to find anyone underage being tattooed as they have strict policies on this. I don't know how many of you have heard of them but I hav one one by Neill, which is absolutely great and anyone who asked about it had always heard of them. Highest on my recommendations. it's always best to go with someone who has a proven track record over such a long period.

Beliky, I'm up north as well, and planning on my first tattoo. Still cant make my mind up deffo what I want.

Anyhoo, try www.darkangeltattoos.co.uk they're in Belfast
    also www.tommygunns.co.uk (Belfast City Skinworks)
There is also a place called Ink Castle somewhere in Belfast.

Now, I've only looked on their websites, haven't actually been in talking to any so far, but I'm kinda leaning towards Dark Angel. Either that or I'll go down to Dublin and get mine done. Oh yeah, and www.triskeletattoos.com in Enniskillen

    Good Luck!

linkage to metal urges in tralee..
Not seen any writing that the guys have done, but I'd check Arnas out if your around the area anyways

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,355 ✭✭✭Thephantomsmask

Definitely check them out, l haven't seen any writing either but Arnas did a chest piece for a friend recently with some very fine linework which looks great. If you're willing to travel then you could try the Midleton tattoo convention at the end of the month, you may not get tattooed there but you'll get to see the work of a lot of artists around the country. A word of warning though, don't touch from the gunn in Tralee with a 10ft bargepole, my piercer used to work there before he moved up the country & had a few scary stories about them as well as seeing a few of my friends being hamburgered
