Are there still only the two teams in Dublin? Wouldn't mind giving it a go if they had a flag team or somethin

    More than 2 Dublin teams:

    Dublin Rebels
    West Dublin Rhinos
    Dublin Dragons
    Trinity College
UCD (Students and Alumni only though)

Fair few other teams that are just flag only. Im sure one of the flag guys can post them up for you.

Hi all! I'm currently in Leixlip and am really interested in playing, I've become obsessed with american football :P I had heard though that many of the teams had poor numbers at training? I've had this experience at rugby before and the training sessions were almost pointless when there weren't enough numbers :/ Don't want to travel all that way just to find out there's 10 people training. Can somebody please get back to me?

P.S. I had a rugby scholarship to Maynooth so I'm pretty used to the skill set that american football requires XD

    THANKS!

You've probably already sorted something out but the Dragons are definitely the closest. They play in Lucan.

I'll be moving to Dublin at the end of next month for college work placement. I thinking about giving american football another go (I join the UL team back in first year but social life/going home on the weekends got in the way of things)
Do you guys think any team would have a problem with a guy joining at the start of Feb and just for one season?

I'll be in Swords. It's more for fun & training I'd like to play (not that I wont take it seriously either) so I don't mind too much if I don't get game time

    Hello

Now this might be a stupid question but I was just wondering if there's any chance I could, voluntarily, be a part of the coaching team of an American Football team. I ask this because I love the tactical side of this sport, absolutely love it, and I am too lightweight to play so anyone have any help/experience to add?

Appreciate the offer, and would love to but I am not too sure if i'll be heading UCD next year (Really sorry I didn't mention that I hope to go to college this year!)

UCC, NUIG and UL seem like the options right about now, so just wondering if you have any information regarding them. Would love to hear more about UCD aswell:)

Only UL have a team out of the colleges you mentioned. If you head to UCC there is the Cork Admirals also. You would have to contact each team and see if they are willing to take you on as a rookie coach. Im sure they will accommodate for sure but the best answer would be from them. If you have facebook just throw UL Vikings or Cork Admirals into the search and you will find both teams. There is also a new team starting in Galway there is a thread on them somewhere in the American Football section.

UL Vikings to play U.S. College team in June
    Thursday, February 9th, 2012
The University of Limerick will host NCAA College Football team, University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire in a prestigious challenge game to take place in Limerick on June 10th 2012.

The Blugolds are a well supported Division III programme who play in the WIAC Conference. They are coached by Todd Glaser and have 9 all-conference players on their current roster. The game is being arranged in conjunction with Global Football who are also arranging the GIFT Tournament involving 8 NCAA and High School teams next August/September.

The UL Vikings are one of the top teams in Ireland and have been frequent participants in the Shamrock Bowl in recent years. In 2011, they won IAFL South with a 8-0 regular season record
