one of my all time favourite albums is being reissued and remastered. But having read the press blurb now there isn’t a single extra track, not much of an incentive for fans to part with their cash again, ‘remastered sound’ and ‘updated artwork’ is the selling point apparently… 😏

Surely they can put together a B-sides ( there were a few ) / demo / live compilation CD…..? otherwise, expecting people to fork out again ( physical copy isn’t cheap ) for an album with maybe 5% better sound quality over the original , which will be barley if at all noticeable is a little bit of a piss rip… come on !

How i have never ever heard any irish tv or radio presenter saying an Irish actor or Irish bands film or album is rubbish.

Everything is always great or amazing.

The other day on Irish radio I heard the presenter say the new Joker film is "a mess, except for Brendan Gleeson, who is amazing".

Heard that too. A lot of the TV and movie critics they have on newstalk are fairley questionable themselves. I don't take any of them seriously. Then there's that Australian reviewer who won't watch any horror or violent movies in case she might get scared . . what bolox.

I buy lots of reissues. What album are you referring to?

The most annoying aspect of them is when they omit single mixes. Or in the case of rock artists, don't want 12" versions included because they're embarrassed about them.

"Unalived" is generally used as a euphemism for suicide. It's still a clunky nonsense, but it probably came from a relatively worthy intention to try and avoid potentially triggering language.

Oh my god, that "unalived" thing is just awful. I've seen it used in any context, not just suicide. And it's only used by people who seem like eejits. I absolutely understand the preference to use softer language in some contexts - to say they took their life, ended their life, or otherwise I get why people would say "passed away", but "unalived", as well as being just plain bad English, reminds me of Newspeak in Nineteen Eighty Four.

It's double plus ungood so it is.

Passed away for a not unexpected death versus died for a sudden death would make some sense but doesnt seem to be so used all the time.

10 track CD with glossier artwork and better (?) sound plus postage comes to €20.42 😅 no thanks…

It's used because people were shadowbanned on social media platforms for jokingly saying "I'll kill myself" over trivial things, like not getting concert tickets or an unpopular plot line in a TV show. They got away with saying "I'll unalive myself". "I'll kms" seems to be the new "unalive" BTW.

whatever algorithm facebook is using last few days…I’m getting friends recommendations for people not only not known to me but for people who are in Asia, Africa and elsewhere…. ‘People you may know’….know them, not a single one of them have I even heard of…

Good album. I bought it on vinyl back in 1999. I’d say the reason for no bonus material is because it’s also getting an LP reissue. The label is probably keen that both formats are identical in content. The vinyl is already a double so if they were put the two singles’ B-sides & mixes on, they’d need three LPs. It’s a pain but also happened with Neneh Cherry, David Gray & Whipping Boy reissues (all had some bonus content but plenty missing) - all dictated to by vinyl running times.

I thought ‘tragically’ was the byword for suicide though I can see why they use a different term

In news reports it's very easy to tell when they're talking about someone who died by suicide. They'll use terms like "Gardai are not seeking anyone else in relation to the issue" or similar. The Press Council have very specific guidelines on how Irish news outlets should report on suicide and they pretty much all adhere to them.

the knackbag poxbottle next door smoking under my bedrooms air vent again. Thought that had stopped..walked into my bedroom 30 mins ago and jeeez, I can hear her coughing outside and the rank stink of her second hand hash smoke. What I am grateful for is that she has no mates in situ with her roaring and cackling like 90% of Saturday nights… out with my one of my favourite aftershaves to try dissolving her mouldy stench. Mostly working…

Rank geebag she has a small garden out back but obviously prefers the shelter of the alleyway….away from prying elderly eyes but not one thought of anybody else. Sitting directly under my vent! the little sap.

When you can't sleep and are awake all night and have to be up early in the morning. I could cry.

    Same!

At this point I'm only a couple of hours away from when I should be getting up. I should probably just go make coffee now before I end up finally tired around 7, & I'm to be up at 8 🙄

There's something comforting about being around someone who understands your need for silence & space. You don't have to fill the air with words or explanations, they just get it..

😆 That sound more like a rant than TA!

It would be near rage for me too. Cannot understand how anyone can smoke something that smell like that 🤮🤮

friends met me in a hotel I was staying in recently - they gave me a lovely box of chocs that they had bought for me from a recent trip abroad - they were in a bag - forgot to take them to my room with me - checked with hotel staff the next am and no one saw them/handed them in - checked with hotel a few days later and still no chocs.. so basically, someone went off with a box of chocs that were not theirs! bad form - annoyed by that and annoyed that I didn't take better care of them.

People who refer to the team they support as "we." Sorry, unless you were on the pitch, you did shag all.

It happened again recently with Paul Rudd, whenever a non-Irish actor attempts an Irish accent, there's always a few media knobs who will get their knickers in a twist, then that same wanky debate about 'who can and who can't do a good Irish accent' gets rolled out again. Its just a bit of acting, it doesn't mean or change anything, who really gives a toss what their accent sounds like?

People who go around dressed like they are ready to go on at half time.

People who bring very small babies to pubs, especially when the pub would have background music on and a soccer viewing crowd. Not conducive for a tiny person.

Stores taking down the Halloween decorations for sale three weeks before Halloween to make space for the Christmas ones. I dont do the glow in the dark skeletons and stuff, but feel for anybody who is "late" buying their plastic monsters.

One money sucking holiday at a time please oh evil corporate overlords.

When people are selling there car online and the pictures have people in the background!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,776 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

another car photo one… cars being sold online but the advertisement has no accompanying photos…. A modern well established, respected dealership I and extended family have experience of has a remarkable number this week and last, of advertisements for used cars but lots have no photos at all. You’d think photographing and uploading a few pics… with handheld / wireless technology now from first pic, to uploading on an add, maybe 15 minutes and all done….
Park it where it’s well lit, about 7 shots outside, similar number inside, upload and jobs a good un….but nope, I’m supposed to be contemplating buying something I can’t see just what I can read about…no thanks !

When there's someone behind you at one of those Return machines and you get the feeling you're being judged by the cans you're inserting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,664 ✭✭✭✭Dial Hard

If they're like me they're not judging you on the cans, but how long it's taking you to put them in 😆

Its not anti fungal anyways so save your money. Check your shoes in case your toe is rubbing on something. Or its bruised because you kicked something, or someone stood on it or you dropped something on it.

Go see a foot health professional and ask their professional opinion (I'm in Tipperary if that helps)
