New thread for all your trivial annoyances.
    See Mod Note below.

As you have probably noticed some of the long running threads are not updating, at present. So this is a workaround.

    Old thread here

Mod Note - If your post relates to more serious things whether current affairs, politics or suchlike, please take it to the appropriate forum. This thread is for TRIVIAL ANNOYANCES.

    Thanks

    Hilda

Also, friendly tip, gang: don't chop stuff while pissed off. I genuinely just came extremely close to losing the tip of a finger.

    Trivial being spelled correctly 🤬

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,204 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    the change from…

“ things that trivially annoy you “…

    to..

“ trivial things that annoy you “

    Was it deliberate ? 😛

It’s fairly trivial and it’s annoyed me, either way 🤑

TA - I'm too comfortable to move but trying to convince myself to go out for a walk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,179 ✭✭✭standardg60

Especially when Hilda was specifically reminded to spell it wrong in the Help Desk thread!

What's worse, in doing so the mod typed 'mis spell' with a gap which trivyally annoyed me.

FFS it's either miss spell or misspell!

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 18,650 Mod ✭✭✭✭Leg End Reject

I'm TA that the 'you' in the title was never misspelt as 'ewe'.

Annoyed that there wasn't a link in the old thread to this one. Also annoyed by silent chip and pin machines. When I dont hear the beep I end up pressing the first digit twice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭Archeron

Here's one I prepared earlier! This one is a bit deformed but you can get the idea. Normally very nice, not so much when there's a smell of rotten vegetables off them 😂

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 7,710 Mod ✭✭✭✭HildaOgdenx

Mod - There is a link, but as the old thread is not updating, it's not visible at present. There is nothing I can do about that, unfortunately.

People reading broadsheet newspapers on planes. The three men in the row in front of me on a Ryanair flight earlier were trying to read the Irish Times. The jostling for space was actually comical.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,228 ✭✭✭✭Dial Hard

Speaking of jostling for space, encroaching manspreaders can FRO. The guy beside me had his knee fully in my seat space. And the fcuker was shorter than me 😡😡😡

Tradesmen shouting at me "do you want your gutters done / grass cut etc" while I am outside my house talking to somebody on my phone. And then not taking no for an answer. So I have to resort to the usual "If I want anything done, I'll come to you. No need to f*cking harass people."

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 18,650 Mod ✭✭✭✭Leg End Reject

And the chances saying they are in the area and will give you a discount if you get them to clean your driveway.

They keep trying to insist that they'll do a small patch as a free demonstration, you have to be very insistent to get them to eff off if you make the mistake of opening the door.

Yes, and they are always doing work [vague wave of hand] for your neighbour around the corner. Riiiiight.

The rugby referee Matthew Carley, trying to weasel his way out of awarding a red card to a Toulouse player….. the note of disappointment in his voice and demeanour when the TMO disagrees is quite clear, he gave clear deliberate and insistent reasons for a red leaving no room for Carley to weasel out of it. He was poor all round though.. not just that call.

Britains got talent . It’s a good show for showcasing alot of talent . But the camera shots of judges and the audience mouth agape with faux shock is tedious

The English pronunciation of room as more like rum / ruhm.

When there are muppets with shopping trolleys clogging up the basket self-checkout area of a supermarket which has a dedicated self-checkout area for trolleys - staff equally to blame for not directing said trolley muppets to the right area. Rolling my eyes as they try to balance a full trolley load of groceries on the small scale/shelf designed for basket-type quantities of food….

Yeah , some of them are great , but the shock on their faces when someone hits a note is tiresome .

The program makes me think there's something wrong with my emotions.

I'm like it's grand but not shocked and amazed.

TA people who have little to moan about so they make mountains out of molehills just to have some (imaginary) perceived slight against them .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,204 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    woken up by a neighbours alarm…. Wasn’t ultra early…. about 10.45.

But you could hear them at their back or side door which set the thing off, obviously forgetting it was set …. They are generally not known for their stealth or timing as relates to their noise footprint which they should be, as it’s been politely stated on the residents whatsapp on a few occasions…..but Sunday morning 🤪

dancing. and it doesn't just annoy me, it makes my skin crawl.

to be fair, other people dancing doesn't bother me in the slightest; i absolutely hate dancing and loathe people trying to pull me onto a dance floor. i've zero rhythm, for a start; i dance like a dead pig being electrocuted, but there's something about it which makes me really uncomfortable. maybe a little like fear of public speaking for others, albeit dancing is not something i'm afraid of.

That guy in the IKEA advert on the radio.

First off, the accent. Obvious he ain't Swedish and just doing a dodgy accent.

Second, trying to make a 'day out' at IKEA sound like being at a fun park. Normalising consumerism.

I'm sure my kids would have a great day out shopping for bookshelves and ultra minimalist kitchens.

Special offers (2 for €3) for products that have different flavours but won't allow you mix and match.

2 strawberry are fine but 1 strawberry and 1 raspberry aren't.

Yes and when they don't make it clear enough and you end up paying full price at the till without realising.

That it’s a bank holiday , in the north at least , and my afternoon tv is all changed .
The English show no consideration for me . If it’s not bank holidays its horse racing , and they cancel Lingo and Tipping Point . At least the Chase is still on !

Was an even bigger TA when the Championship playoff final used to be scheduled for their holiday Monday.

have an appointment with my dental hygienist tomorrow…. She has a peculiar personality. You enter the room, sit down, some small talk but it’s almost like in the beginning to her you are a long lost best friend, who she hasn’t seen in ages. It’s a bit OTT….. and a bit false if I’m honest…..I find myself asking stuff like if she’s been on holidays and I don’t really care but anyway I feel like I should reciprocate….

However, the odd occasion she’s finding something that she is unimpressed with like on one occasion she figured I wasn’t flossing enough or hard enough and she went from almost wanting to give me a cuddle at the start of the consultation to being quite unfriendly and practically wanting to kneecap me… just do your job, problem… ? TELL ME….., I’ll pay you, next time, we do it all again…
