Oranmore Galway. My house is nicely sheltered from a southerly wind which makes a nice change. Front of the house usually gets hammered but this feels calm by comparison. Few gusts but generally calm for now.

Bit windy in Cork City. Smatttering of rain. Actually drier than usual. Just another crap day like the last 500.

Gusty and loud on Clare/Galway border just south of Gort…. Must be some pressure drop as my joints and sinuses are aching like a bugger.

There's always a poster too who unfairly personally attacks another poster too just for making an observation.

So far, Sherkin is the only station that hit orange level gust criteria but Sherkin, Shannon and Mace Head also hit it for average wind speeds. Roches Point reached average wind speeds of 80+km/h bringing it into red territory.

Fair play to this pilot. Wind speed of 55 and gusts of 82.

Was going to head out for a walk on the sea front in Sandymount. Not sure now.

Also, FR24 doesn't seem to have any major diversions or loop de loops/go arounds YET…. at DUB.

Wind speed in knots? I can only assume so as you didn't specify and you're discussing flying and knots is the unit of measurement used.

Meanwhile in Trim, Meath, it's very breezy but nothing atypical.

wind was howling in south mayo until half an hour ago

It has quietened a bit for now

Very windy here in north Kilkenny , no rain but electricity is after dipping out three times in the last half an hour for a minute or so each time. Few wheelie bins passed out drunk on paths.

Fairly gusty, but nothing like the last storm - not that it was forecast to be. I am just glad for all the rain that's forecast over the weekend and beyond, I was really starting to miss it after the the run of dry days over the Easter period!

I'm heading to Dublin from the midlands at 5pm.

Should I expect anything more than a moderate breeze?

On a quiet beach near Spiddal. Nice white horses and blustery but not too bad. Wind feels direct Southerly which means some shelter from Burren hills. Dry apart from the odd small shower. Tide starting to come in again. Having a wee is somewhat problematic.

Blustery in Ennis. But wouldn’t say it’s very bad. I think omitting Clare from the Orange warning made sense. It’s dry and bright this morning too, hasn’t rained much yet, which always helps.

Tough call to make, Clare was yellow and Galway orange. Yellow wouldn't put me off playing golf, orange in Waterford and I wouldn't fancy doing the garden today. Built up areas would be more sheltered of course.
