We have a manager who is clueless and the players don't seem to want to perform for him. Legend of a player in his day but poor manager. Should have been gone last season. The Roscommon win saved his job. 2 relegations in 3 seasons is shocking. We have won 2 All Irelands under 20s in 6 years and not too many of these players have come through to the senior set up. Serious questions have to be asked of the management team and county board

I assume juvenile tickets for the finals cover those u16?

The Division 1 and 2 finals in recent years have gotten good crowds. Down are back in Croke Park after last year's Tailteann final. Leitrim return to Croke Park for the first time in a few years.

Retaining the league finals and allowing a rest weekend before the provincial championships start is a conundrum.

Round 3, 4 and 5 of the league are on consecutive weekends. Rounds 6, 7 and the finals of the league are on consecutive weekends. Could Leinster and Ulster have the preliminary round, quarter-finals and semi-finals on consecutive weekends? If they could, the provincial championships could be completed over 5 weekends.

40k the expected crowd for Sunday and 10k tomorrow.

    As for the finals.

Leitrim beat Laois recently in O'Moore Park but their need was greater in that match and I think Laois will win this game

Down I'd fancy to win by bit to spare, A county of the rise, strong at club and underage level and could well be pushing for Div 1 promotion next year.

Donegal manager big Jim in the build up is talking injuries and the testing schedule and it the past he didn't take these league finals too serious, silverware will be boost to Armagh and should have a big following in Croke Park, I think they'll edge it.

A repeat of last years Div 2 final in the Div 1 decider, that was 10 scores to 11 with Dublin winning 7 points thanks to scoring 4 goals. A year on Dublin still have a keen eye for goals and Derry even going by their last few games are giving up a lot of goal scoring chances. The best of Derry won't be seen defensively until the championship so it's hard to see past a Dublin win on Sunday.

Derry haven't won the division 1 league in Croke Park since 1996. The 2000 final replay was in Clones and 2008 was Parnell park for some reason.

the always one that will screw up the accumulator thats why i stayed away this weekend , donegal the dark horse tomorrow against armagh , derry will go very close too , probably the best two teams in the country in the division 1 final , so integrity well and truly in place

there's no need to be rushing in with the championship in early April in my opinion , personally going to munster hurling games in April seems odd , push everything back 2 weeks , have the hurling final on the august weekend the mens final two weeks later

westmeath were excellent tonight against down and its a huge win for them , they probably wont be able to celebrate tonight as they have a tricky tie against wicklow next week and they still might need to make the leinster final just to retain the sam mcguire status

Last time Dublin and Derry met in a Div 1 league final, Dublin beat them all the way down to Division 4.

Not sure I have ever seen a team so damaged by a single game.

    Very Unlikely to happen today.

    This.

In theory, it takes max 3 games to win connacht, could be ran off within a month, buy it takes two. Nonsense.

Have a sneaky feeling that Derry will pip the Dubs today

After a poor enough 2nd half, this game has suddenly come to life

Very fortunate goal for Dublin and I think the Derry defender on the line should have stopped it.

Have Derry the legs to go the distance

Good game so far.. Derry will be disappointed not to be ahead...

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,008 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Derry must be wondering how they're not ahead. Fortunate Dublin goal and a few shots from Derry that were narrowly wide and a couple that dropped under the bar. Derry are by far playing the better football.

Enjoyed the Donegal v Armagh one too when I wasn’t shouting ‘have a go’.

Derry scored 11 points in the Division 2 Final against Dublin in 2023. They have 10 points at half time today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,008 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Dublin lucky to have not conceded a second goal in quick succession. Shot whistled just wide of the post.

This time there's no mistake and Derry have their second goal. Lucky though, just about off the underside of the crossbar, when no need to blast so high.

Big point there for Dublin from what should have been a free in for Derry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,927 ✭✭✭threeball

You get the feeling that Dublin superior conditioning will get them through in the end. Their body shape is different from every team out there. Similar to professional athletes from AFL or similar.

Scully about 15 yards out and wouldn’t hit it over with his left, back out to the 45

  • Registered Users Posts: 66,872 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

You can’t give Glass that kind of room

  • Registered Users Posts: 66,872 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Gonna be some finish to this

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,927 ✭✭✭threeball

Derry killing themselves by going for goals when chipping a couple of points would have got them home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,927 ✭✭✭threeball

Should of went short with the 45

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,927 ✭✭✭threeball

Terrible decision from Lane as usual.
