28 involved in the big one - the biggest one ever!

Joey hitting Brad who then hit the leader Cindric set it all in motion .

Joey (Mr.Even years) is now 9th in the playoffs , Denny who was running midfield at best now finds himself in the top 4 of the playoffs , with only Willy B guaranteed to advance into the final 8.

    Playoff positions:

    1. Willy B Advances

    2. Bell +57 (fairly safe !)

    3. Larson +52 (should be safe)

    4. Denny +30

    5.Bowman + 26

    6. Blaney +25 (despite wrecking early)

    7. Reddick +25. 8. Elliot +13

    Below the cut line:

    9. Logano -13. 10. Suarez -20

    11. Cindric - 29. 12. Briscoe - 32

Stenhouse wins - Hamlins drop out strategy pays off with a good finish

that was tough on the cindric

Well that race was a joke. Why is NASCAR's SS package suddenly terrible?

Everyone goes on about the four-wide early in the race, but if anything that's just the inherent problem. No-one can make any moves because any attempt to go forward basically results in becoming a parachute.

Like there's nothing wrong with a wide-open drafting race... but moves need to be possible by oneself without having to be shoved forward. This was just pack racing, and pack racing is not really a good idea when major accidents are not only possible, but inevitable and expected.

Talladega in particular has had this issue since the next gen cars were introduced, it's impossible to pass, but because of the drama and the accidents Nascar don't seem to eager to resolve the passing issue.

Brad K getting a lot of stick for causing another pile up , initially I thought Logano was to blame but replays show Brad hitting Cindric at an angle with only one possible outcome , the 6th wreck Brad has caused at Super Speedways in recent seasons.

The Roval next - Kyle Larsons to lose ??

It's a very hard one to call. If Van Gisbergen is in it I think I'd fancy him. Allmendinger won it last year and has some other good results in it. I'd love to see Conor Zilisch get a car in it. His win in the Xfinity series was so impressive. If you haven't heard of him he's one to watch, a future star for sure. He's only 18.

dont see Larrson winning a road race easily - even Elliot , reddick could go well as Svg who would be favourite and Zilich and other trackhouse also go well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,713 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Drama on the second last lap in Xfinity race at the Charlotte Roval. Did Kilgermann get to the white flag before the caution?! No! Great racing, now Overtime!

Mayer deserved it, he was the best today.

Svg made a mess off the xfinity - the cup race is more wide open than expected

More a strategy error then a SVG 'making a mess' . SVG finished 3rd despite being on the oldest tyres.

A lot of negative commentary around Nascars officiating around the white flag / yellow being thrown, not helped by the commentary team suggesting 'timing caused by technical delay...…'

    Parker deserved that victory, alas,

Cup race has two Kauligs in the mix - will 2 poles in one day SVG or Roval master AJ continue the trend of non championship contenders winning a playoff race.

Still think Larson will be in the mix.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

svg missed a turn totally and done it in practice - there were only 2 other cars competitive yesterday - there will be more today - Reddick . larrson , elliot . byron maybe trackhouse 2

    Breaking news :

AlAlex Bowman has been disqualified from the Charlotte race and is out of the playoffs.

Joey Logano is back in , Bowman was disqualified when his car was found under weight in post race scruitineering.

Hendrick are expected to appeal .

Strange race - Larrson wins , well done with that - he got a clean run when reddick n svg didnt . Hamlin and reddick dug it out after crashing together ,

if logano gets to phoenix hes a danger

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,068 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I see Byron and Blaney as the dangers to Larson.

Those two teams can get the right car together at the right time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Logano has had a mediocre season and the next few tracks aren't his forte ,but it is an even number year !.

Larson already had a healthy lead over the others so he should secure one of the final 4 positions ,after that.....Bell is consistent and Denny has been a bit of sleeper the last few weeks but made the final 8 without too much drama.

Phoenix tends to be a penske ford track so Logano or Blaney would be a good call if either make the final 4, but a chevy won last year so a Hendrick Chevy powered Larson is still my favourite for the championship.

There you go Logano is in to the last 4, He now has a great chance to win it out . Hamlin and his team have been terrible and need a change or there going out

Blaney and Logano work for each other better than any other team

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

that was the best race for a while - looked like Hamlin Had it then Blaney and then Reddick in the last 3 laps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

    Kyle Larson now 5th....-7 points..

Should be some race next week for the final 2 spots in the championship race.

Larson was unlucky. He has balls of steel but they cost him tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Bell should take the 3rd spot ,so unless Hamlin/Blaney/Elliot win, it will be a battle for the final championship spot between Larson and Byron !

Pity that Phoneix and not Homestead is the championship decider in 2 weeks time

You are definitely in the minority there,

An effort is being made to persuade Nascar to move the finale back to Homestead for 2026.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,068 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I think they should move it every year. I'd love to see it at Darlington, Bristol, Charlotte and Martinsville and other tracks.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

martinsville - this should be good

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

wow Blaney - the best car wins - 2 fords in the championship 4 and now look favourite

Bell rides the wall and and picks off Byron and countback after 23 the other toyota backs back . byron had 2 chevys blocking for him

no Hendrick moterport in the last 4

considering ford were terrible for near half the season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Controversial finish ,it looks like Chastain and A. Dillon in their chevrolets blocked Brad Kelowski from passing Byron chevrolet ,

Only for Bell (Toyota)to pass Wallace(Toyota) on the last corner- after radio saying there was a 1 point gap - Bell hits the wall a la the hail melon which is now banned.....Wallace had a flat tyre....

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

byron in and bell out - - a bad situation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,068 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well the move was made illegal and he didn't need to do it. Stupid by Bell, his own fault. Hard to believe that neither of Larson and Hamlin are in the final four.

    I think Byron wins it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Firstly it's pretty clear that Bell didn't intentionally run the wall , he passed Wallace who was slowing and was not going to repass Bell, Bell got lose and clipped the wall and then accelerated away.

Nascar went for expediency and called it a 'safety violation ' while Bell stood beside his car....., later Nascar saying the decision cannot be appealed.

Placing Bell at the back of the lead lap in the official standings wasn't by accident....

The elephant in the room is the race manipulation by chevrolet and possibly Toyota.

Under Nascars own rules Byron will be a judged to have participated in race manipulation - the radio conversation about 'the deal' implies knowledge.

That means Byron is out of the championship if Nascar follows it's own rules and precedent .

But Bell will not be in , Larson would now take the 4th spot on points.

Proving Toyota manipulation would be a lot harder even if it's likely , thus place Bell as finishing at the end of the lead lap.

Nascar have confirmed that the potential race manipulation will be investigated this week.

A Hendrick Chevy will be in the final 4 , but it may not be Willy B.…

This friendly approach between manufacturers has been going on for years. It happens at Talladega every race. It's happen in Championship races many times before. It'd be hypocritical of Nascar to decide to penalise for it here when they let it slide elsewhere.

Penalties for race manipulation issued by Nascar (at 6pm on election day!)

Chastain ,Dillon and Wallace all fined, and crew chiefs and spotters suspended.

No action against Byron....., Nascar regulations not being followed in Byrons case .

Nascar to introduce Penalties against manufacturers also envisaged .

The manipulation was blatant on Sunday , clearly drivers were not driving at 100% as required by the regulations, action had to be taken.

The final 4 is set , hard one to call , Penske Ford's are good at Phoenix but Chevy have upped their game , imagine if Reddick won though……court decision on injunction against Nascar due out Friday...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,068 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Which regulations aren't being followed as regards Byron?

    What did he do?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

allgair won a championship despite trying his best to throw it away

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Final day - looks like Blaney could retain his title

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

As last night showed its not over till it's over , #7 Allgaier triumph was against a back drop of a wrecked primary car , 2 penalties and a puncture !

Hopefully tonight is like last night and not. Repeat of the borefest of the truck finale.

Last full time race for Truex and one last chance for Kylle Busch to continue his winning streak

Pace car FTW 😅🤣 nice move into the pit barrels.

Edit: now a red flag while it gets sorted!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Hope that's not the highlight of the race !

Back up pace car now deployed !

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,958 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Bell leading the race is a bit ironic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

So so close in the end....

Penske and Ford might be average during the season but always come to the fore in the playoffs.

As Logano said , he might not be the best driver but he is in the best team.

98 days to the first race of 2025 ! Can Joey win in an odd number year.....

Logano - got it done when he needed today and all the end part of the season .

if it wasnt logano - blaney would have went in hotter on the last laps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,068 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Logano is a great driver in the clutch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Breaking news , shortly after noon local time a judge ruled in favour of 23XI and Front Row motorsport against Nascar ,the ruling includes that Nascar must allow 23XI and Front Row Motorsport to run as charter teams in 2025 and must allow the sale of the SHR charters to 23XI and Front Row Motorsport to go ahead.

Nascar was also found to operate a monopoly ,the judge rejecting Nascars claim that it shared the market with Indycar and Formula 1.

Nascar have yet to respond to this ruling which is almost a reversal of the original judgement.
