    The Data is damming,

The telemetry clearly shows that Dillon turned left to hit Hamlin.

The telemetry also clearly shows that Dillon rammed Logano and speeded up before hooking Hamlin.

These are the facts despite what others may have seen.

Rightly penalised, intentional wrecking is a line crossed.

    Michigan international sunday 6.30

    xfinity 8.30 saturday

Hamlin could still be feeling the effects off the crash last week , with his existing shoulder issue .

this could be the Hendrick return to the top - Byron needs to show some improved form and this could be his chance

The spotter can be fined and/or suspended for those things. The driver cannot be penalised for what the spotter or anybody else says.

You have to take each incident on it's own.

He's faster than Logano and he has to make something happen, it's a regular occurrence to bump the guy in front of you and hope he gets a little loose to give you the room to get by him. He couldn't have predicted, and I don't think it was his intention to spin Logano.

Now the Hamlin one. As I've already said he did move down but it was clearly to try and avoid Logano. There would have been no incident if Hamlin stayed low for a few moments. I don't know for sure why he came up. My belief is he expected to go door to door with Dillon and pushing him up might get him loose and make the pass easy. Dillon slowed up to avoid Logano so when Hamlin made the move upwards he was half a car length up on Dillon which caused his spin.

Hamlin and Logano are big names in the sport and lots of commentators are going to back them because they are popular, that's what the media do. This shouldn't affect how NASCAR deals with it but it does just like the Larson waiver which in truth should never have happened. Larson was unfortunate and I felt sorry for him and hoped he'd get the waiver but by the rule book it should not have happened.

That's exactly what's went on here. As I've said if Hamlin made those moves the worst thing that would have happened is a fine and if they really wanted to punish him he'd start last in the next race. Dillon isn't a big name so it was easy to give him a much worse punishment than any of the big drivers would ever get.

Here is another example for you. Chase Ellliot told his crew on the radio that he was going to wreck Hamlin and did. He got a one race suspension and he got a waiver after it. It was his second waiver that season. He missed a bunch of races because of a snow boarding accident and got a waiver. So he gets one for something that Nascar had no involvement in and then another because a deserved suspension would have put him out of playoff contention.

In my view there is no intent on Dillon's part to intentionally wreck anyone. It was just racing and Dillon was a bit wreckless but didn't deserve the punishment he got.

Willy B has been MIA lately , reminds me of Truex last season.

23XI have been the team on the move, Reddick has the momentum to win a championship at the moment, while Bubba has clawed back a huge points gap.

Trackhouse ,Chastain in particular, needs a good result as well.

AJ is back at Kaulig next season ,while the latest rumours are that the 2 remaining SHR charters will be sold to Trackhouse (for SVG) and.....RFK , 23XI unwilling to pay the price being asked.

yes seems SVG would be the 1st to comeback over AJ

allgair got up to lead b4 rain in a fuel race where it was hard to pass . another one of them races on the card . saving fuel races

Allgaier got it done last night. He was way faster than the others after taking a pitstop 6 laps later than the others. It meant they had to save fuel but he didn't and it went to overtime and they all finished.

W are in a rain delay tonight. Not sure how long more it'll be. Rain has stopped.

more rain delays might be a late one or a monday race

denny gone off a lot of toyatas went off in the xfinity - they seem to be faster but liable to get 2 loose

Hamlin around. All the Toyota's had too much down force yesterday. Looks like it's the same thing again. If they get too close behind a car it's a big problem, if somebody gets up to their rear wing it's also a big issue.

More rain, how does this happen so often?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,052 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Its great to see cars being able to pass easily.

There's been at least ten leaders already, might be a lot more. Larson, Hamlin, Wallace, Blaney, Elliott, Busch and Truex are the ones I remember.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,052 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

a lot of wrecking going on .

    it looks wide open now

well done with Reddick - Byron was so close but thats how it goes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,909 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Much better day for Willy B , 23X1 the team at the moment and Reddick is looking very good.

Bubba unlucky to be hit by Larson , 2 races to go and 2 points between Bubba and Chastain for that last playoff berth.

Good to see Corey up and about after that scary moment, lucky no other car hit or was hit by the airborne #7

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,052 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

turned out ok - races are being dominated by tire and fuel a lot more this year

Almost certain, barring a wreck, that Austin Hill wins tonight.

Somebody needs to give him a good car in the cup series for these type of races.

Hull got wrecked after a couple of laps, currently off the track for a long time and I doubt he gets back out. Allgaier won the first stage.
