No there are people who will hear nothing back at all after expressing an interest due to panel number and previous panels etc. Wait until the next EOI round if you don't.

recived an email saying " I can confirm the recommendation to procced (offers) have commenced to the candiates highest in order of merit "

Looking unlikely at the moment for myself but will keep the fingers crossed and was in TOP 50 of this latest panel

I got offered for Tallaght! Just sent the reply email to accept there 🙌

last time there were a few emails sent out the following week also (obviously people who had originally expressed interest and then pulled back out) so more emails might follow for those next in line - although I think there would probably be 200 maybe in the panels in front of yours so depends how many of those still want the position and have put themselves forward I guess

I got offered both Tallaght and Tullamore and have confirmed my acceptance for Tallaght! Super excited. I’m wondering does anyone know the timeline from now until the medical/occupational health review? I’m conscious that we will not be given an actual contract or ‘job offer’ until the medical is passed so I’m just wondering does anyone know what timeframe we’re looking at?

after speaking to a current paramedic in the NAS, i have been advised that your station in year 2/3 is within a 45km radius from your home, rather than outside of it. This may be incorrect but it was my understanding that NAS try to ensure you are placed within this radius for ease.

You're most likely to be put in your home station for the first year as you're only third person. Come intern year it's not guaranteed you will be placed near home. They're better at doing it than they used to be but stations are starting to reach max capacity so there's no room for more interns in some stations. I know plenty who are commuting 1 hour 30 mins.

I’m just wondering, I got accepted into Tallaght for January but just wondering what time frame is the contracting stage for the final documents to be sent and also for the medical

I’m also down for Tallaght, I’m a bit OCD about planning 🙈 so I’ve just gone back on this thread and from the most recent Sept intake for Ballinasloe this was the timeframe:

24th May: EOI were sent out
    July 12th: fitness test
20th August: Final contracts sent out
    2nd Sept: Course start date

I’m sure there is probably other document parts or correspondence in between but at least that gives a bit of an outline

    Hi Everyone,

Does anybody have any idea when the next recruitment may be?

    Thanks 😊

I can only talk from my experience: Application in May - interview in July. Then onto a panel until your number comes up. Patience is a virtue here. The best thing to do is check NAS website about recruitment, it will explain in great detail. All the best. 👍

Just wondering for anyone going from around the country to Tallaght in January is anyone looking for accommodation? I’ve been looking the last couple days but every house/apartment for one person seems crazy priced for what you’d be getting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 HannahSpanner

I didn’t look, I thought they would be way too expensive so will drive up and back most days and then aim to force family members to take me in on other days 🙈………….on the last intake I found the same thing for Ballinasloe and my back up plan for that if I got in was to stay in one of the hotels (some of them offer discounts for NAS so might be worth dropping a few emails to see if any in Tallaght have discounts available)

Hi all, I’m wondering has anyone who plans to begin in January actually handed in their notice yet? I have my medical in 2 weeks, and I’m praying they will give the results soon after as I’m hesitant to hand in my notice until I know for sure that I’ve passed! Wondering is anyone else in the same position or have you handed in your notice with the expectation that you’ll pass the medical? Thanks all!

Best advice I was given is not to hand in youet notices till you sing the contract as funding can be pulld any time from now till you sign that

Same boat as myself, have my medical on 22nd not going to do anything about a notice until I have signed on the contract.

    Down for tallaght aswell!

Have completed my medical but still reluctant to hand in notice. If im not mistaken the last group who started in ballinasloe in September didn't receive contracts until very close to their start date. My current job would require me to train my replacement as part of the handover so if it goes past a certain date I may need to roll that dice and hand in my notice ahead of getting contract and just hope it follows through.

Hi! I was told that you get told on the day of your medical if your cleared and will get contract soon after.. is that the case in your experience or are you still unsure? The notice is a pain for sure!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Kitkat73

Hi Nevanna1, yep...I did the medical last week and told there and then that I passed. I presume they have to wait for blood results to come back but i have no idea how long after this the contracts go out? I

ah that’s brilliant that you passed, I’m delighted for you. I did email HR about the whole notice period issue and was assured that although they don’t recommend you give notice before you’ve passed the medical, that the medical is the last and final stage of the entire process before contract so that gives me good hope that it’ll be fine! Fingers crossed anyway!

Hi congrats on passing, in relation to the Chester step test do you have to complete all 5 levels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 taramc95

anyone have difficulty passing the C1? I failed on my first go yesterday and have to test again. I’ve already spent a fortune on lessons!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Kitkat73

Not necessarily, as far as I could tell it is calculated by age, fitness level etc so they will stop it once u have reached the heart rate that they have calculated for you individually....im sure some very fit people may be required to continue up to level 5 but others will reach their target bpm before this and that is okay. It is only if ur bpm climbs faster then it should that it would be a problem. Try to keep as calm as possible b4 starting, don't over think it and try focus ur mind on something else so u don't get nervous & drive ur heart beat up too soon. I distracted myself by looking out the window which must have worked.😅 and it's helpful to change ur lead leg every now and then so one leg doesn't take all the strain. Hope this helps and best of luck to anyone yet to take their medical.

Hi does anyone know do you have to have a clean drivers licence in order to secure a position as a student paramedic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Nevanna1

Congrats on passing! Do you mind me asking what level you got to? I have mine on Wednesday and I’m a bit worried! Also; is it a standard 30cm step or was there any choice? Thanks so much!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Kitkat73

A choice of 2 sizes depending on ur height which was a big relief for me as I'm not the tallest and 30cm would have been challenging. I was 3/4 way through level 4 when doctor stopped me. Very best of luck on Wednesday. It's honestly not as bad as you would think. They're very nice.
