Ten in the hutch with questionable weather, nonsense ? Really ? Ok 🤷‍♂️ the bbc forecast says rain a plenty, so even if the forecast is a hybrid of both…. That’s a lot of interruption…. Some rain roughly every hour between 1400 & 1700… cleanup, cover removal takes time… so maybe 3+ hours lost as per a current forecast ? Hmmmm all four results are possible, what’s probable is another thing 😉

BBC switched to the Meteo Group a few years back after they had to tender out for provision of weather services, hence the difference between them and the Met Office. The unpredictability of the weather of the last few weeks has shown that neither are fully reliable.

Very hard to predict how much rain will interrupt tomorrow. It's summer, the air is warmer and carries more moisture along. High pressure to the south with light showers possible steering in from the west over London. But the SE of England is generally drier overall, so could quite possibly escape. Cloud & humidity could well be a factor though...

Aus are effectively 0/0 chasing 250

Wonder how they approach that tomorrow.

Latest weather from Met Office - hopefully we will get at least 2 full sessions today.

Suspect that the Aussies will play like they did yesterday. A draw still sees them win the series overall. Doubt they will want to lose any early wickets trying to chase too hard.

They'll play like they did yesterday. No point in chasing too aggressively and losing wickets. A draw sees Australia winning the series anyway.

England have the breakthrough. Warner out.

Suitable ending for Warner, very frustrating!

First wicket down... bowlers had looked dangerous enough... wonder can they get two or three more before lunch... probably need that as a minimum...

Forecast has indeed slightly improved overnight... which is good.

Must have beaten the edge about 8 times this morning so far.... so different to yesterday..

Wasted referral but Broad does tend to get his way!!

No doubt about that one... bad shot... Good ball.... second down...

Khawaja gone now. This is going to be finished very early. The ball is moving all over the place and the run rate has dried up. Aussies collapsing.

Ego review by Khawaja, he's had a couple of those this series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,038 ✭✭✭MFPM

Khawaja gone. England will probably do this now, the Australia win is now probably off the agenda now. Conditions falling right for England again.

Big job for Labuschagne and Smith to keep Australia in this.

Long way to go before you can conclude that! What's will the ball change though? Eng always looking to get it checked, got one late yesterday that's apparently in much better nick that the old one.

Think Australia will indeed play for the draw now…. England probably need two more before lunch. Which is doable… 70 minutes until lunch

Dunno - this pair will see how things go. They still have the firepower to hit 220 runs no bother, if they get their heads into it.

3rd down, nice delivery. Good catch just centimetres above the turf.

Game over..3 in the first hour, exactly what England needed.

I don't disagree but there's been little in this series to suggest Australia can deliver that type of performance.

    Game on.

As always it comes down to Smith.

And England needing to bowl out of their skins.

It's bizarre that an Ashes summer is ending before August but what a great series this has been. Two sides giving 100% and full of respect for each other.

Rain due after lunch. Makes a draw more likely as Australia would likely drop anchor.

Plenty of life left in this game particularly if the Aussies decide to go for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,340 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Important partnership this between Smith and Head with has brought it back to being maybe 50-50 again.

Ali or Root now have to come with something as the seamers can't do it all day.

Fair play to Australia so far for making a game of it. If there is no rain you'd expect them to easily knock off the last 150 runs, especially with Wood obviously not able to bowl much and Ali also in trouble. Anderson and even Broad look like easy pickings. Woakes outstanding again but he can't do it all on his own.

Travis Head fairly dodgy with the short ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,442 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

    Wow!! Stokes dropped it. 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,038 ✭✭✭MFPM

I thought Smith was gone. This could be a big moment in the game.

    Ben Stokes dropping it too!!
