Thanks a million, was pretty much sure but wording was a bit ambiguous

I don’t even know where to start. I have huge sympathy for what you feel you went through with the ALLEGED bullying leveled at you, but to start definitively saying that people in other Departments have committed suicide over bullying!!?? These are issues that are often highly complex and the causes usually multi-layered.

It sounds like you had a tough time and it's great you got out and are doing somwthing else now. But you need to move on from what happened. The fact that you are posting in multiple forums, warning people against taking up jobs in the Civil Service suggests you have not moved on. It is not healthy and I'm sure you could be doing for productive things with your time. Stop letting it consume you and concentrate on you!

I'm not against civil servants being allowed to engage with the WRC. To be honest, that seems both sensible and fair.

My early point was just that I don't think Forsa is a good option for AOs. Obviously, it's just my own opinion, based on my experience.

Avenger, it sounds like you went through an awful time. However, no one on this forum knows the full story (for obvious reasons) - just hints here and there. That means you're unlikely to get a full and fair hearing online.

It does sound like you need to either let this stuff go and move on, or escalate it in the real world.

I don't think the Secrets Act is really the roadblock you think it is, and I'm sure your pension credits are safe. However there are many reasons you may not wish raise things further - you mention future employment concerns and this could be a legitimate worry.

At the same time, the healthier option might be to just let it go. There are assholes in every workplace and, unfortunately, some of them get into positions of power. They're still assholes and deep down they probably know it. But there is little value getting in arguments on forums and rehashing the whole thing over and over. Frequently belittling the civil service just raises the heckles of hardworking folk who don't (and can't) understand what you went through. It's not good for you or anyone else.

I'd like to see you get some form of redress but, more importantly, that you'd be able to move on to more positive work experiences ahead.

    Mod:

@Avenger2020 your discussion has been moved to a seperate thread here; please don't bring it up on this thread again.

I have not yet been processed and in any case requested to stay at my unit and department, so I have no useful insights I am afraid.

Not sure how many got through in total, though they may tell you if you email PAS.

Has anyone had any info from PAS recently?

I’ve just been assigned today to the Dept of the Taoiseach

  • Registered Users Posts: 79 ✭✭countyireland12345

I'd imagine that's a terrific Department to be joining - congrats! If you don't mind me asking, what date you were called for clearance? Just trying to judge when I might be assigned a Department.

  • Registered Users Posts: 128 ✭✭OKDublin

That's great! I only been asked for my qualifications which I sent on. Nothing since. Did you get called for clearance in the last few weeks?

I didn't get any clarification either that my qualifications have been accepted. Should I have got something to say that my qualification is acceptable?

Hi all. Just going to reply to everyone here. I was called for clearance on the 19th July. The fact I was assigned so soon may have something to do with the fact that I am a current civil servant.

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 mcg_philip

Hey! I don’t think so. I think the fact that PAS haven’t replied with queries regarding your qualifications means they are good enough

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭CMR23

Can anyone advise how long after their interview and presentation did they receive feedback on pass/ fail?

  • Registered Users Posts: 34 Wolfskuil

Easier to determine it based on when your batch finished rather than from your specific interview date. They usually try to post results 1-2 weeks after the entire batch has been interviewed. (Mine was one week). They will have indirectly provided you with the duration of the batch of interviews when you were given the names (and dates!) of the different interviewers.

Thanks very much! It's been 8 days since my interview and 7 days since the last interview. Was hoping for a result today, but will likely have to wait until next week. Very eager haha :)

    Hi All.

Congratulations to those who have been succrssful. Can I ask for those who started, is there much working from home or how many days minimum are you in the office?

  • Registered Users Posts: 34 Wolfskuil

Aw, nothing worse than refreshing email every 15 mins for an update! Currently doing similar for clearance. Hope you get some good news soon!

Have a look at the thread below. There is a huge variety based on Department and section within Departments.

Has anyone ever been successful in two competitions and if yes, how have they managed it? I've been successful in the AO General and AO Specialist competitions. Should I proceed with clearance for both and just take the first that actually results in an assignment/start date/contract? As I see it, there is risk to not doing so, as I currently have no job offer, conditional or unconditional, and either could be pulled right up until I actually sign a contract. But I also don't want to upset PAS/Departments.

    Hi everyone,

I have a couple of questions

    1) I just got my results from the batch 6 interviews and I have placed between 10-20 on the OOM. Can anyone advise on how long it will take to be placed in a department from today? I'm unsure of whether I should hand in my notice at work just yet.

Thank you, and congrats to all who got this far! :)

Definitely don't hand in notice yet. You will need to do clearance and references etc. If you're an existing CS this will be quicker but it could be 3 to 12 weeks possibly. You wouldn't know. They're not finished batch 5 yet. All of them would need be placed and those ahead of you in batch 6. You can let PAS know you need to give current employer X amount notice once you're given your department placement. They're generally fine with that

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭CMR23

Yes go through all steps for everything. Flag to them you've been successful in both and are keen to commence a role where they have a vacancy. Highlight expression of interest if you have one. It could still be some time before you're offered placement.

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭CMR23

Anyone have any idea where PAS are at in terms of Batch 5?

I've placed high enough in batch 6, but looking to stay in current department so just curious about where they are and where most are being appointed to

It could be a long time yet. From what I gather from above it has taken 2 months to get to early 20s in batch 5. I don't know how many there are in Batch 5. If you are not currently a civil servant then the clearance could take several weeks and then when you get placed they may say they don't want you to start for another month.
