I just truly can't understand the true believers.

Until a wonder knock out drug is invented, Covid will be in our society.

Either by then, or by a point where it has infected most people and herd immunity has been achieved. Even this seems impossible- as rare as it is I do know someone who has had sympotamatic Covid twice in 10 months (very minor of course, but sympotamatic nonetheless).

For the true believers, what is the end game?

How long do they believe this is sustainable?

The other week Tony Holohan was on Kieran Cuddihy's show on Newstalk and essentially said that he can see a life of re open, re close, with some permanent element of restirction, going on indefinitely.

The UK, and most of the US, have, by and large, done away with this rubbish.

England has reinstated masks, but that's nothing to worry about as most of the English don't seem to be daft enough to actually obey the rule, so it won't really impact on day to day life.

I just heard an adventure centre owner on Matt Cooper saying people have been cancelling kids parties left right and centre since last week's waffling.

It begs the question, what sort of parent is actually listening to Donnelly and NPHET? We haven't seen naive, misguided parental decisions this harmful since the days when parents thought there was nothing untoward about the parish priest talking them into let their sons spend the weekend at the parochial house. The cult of Caholicism has merely been replaced by the cult of the medic. Their trust in these people is scary, and hopefully in a decade when retrospection shows how hysterical the last two years were, their kids will cut them out of their lives for having destroyed their childhoods.

They should be ashamed of themselves. If there are children in this country who are frightened of Covid their parents have failed at their job.
