Apologies, it seemed you were doubting my post about the 3 month plan, it's been also mentioned on the news etc, I reiterate it's under discussion by NPHET

As I said I've not seen any of it online or mentioned in any news headlines that I've heard so far this morning. Hence the question of where you were hearing it.

Edit: Switched over and there's Garth Brooks talk.... I'll be switching that off so haha

Anecdotal I know but a colleague of mine couldn't book a test for his son so just walked on down to a centre in Dublin.. found no queues and testers chatting to each other.

As I said, anecdotal. Make of it what you will.

I doubt it honestly, Gov absolutely dead set against any lockdowns, their approach is becoming very clear, Recommend things but be non committal, basically throw fireworks into the fire, deflect, actually make no decisions and decimate sectors of the economy by stealth, close all supports, its actually brilliant in a crass and disturbing way. Will essentially insure absolute confusion and ongoing uncertainty.

So was she an advocate for vaccinating children here?

Honestly I don't think that was asked of her, she was primarily concerned at what she's seeing in the children's hospital (Trolleys being used for the first time in her memory) and the fact we're not going to get on top of Variants if poorer countries not getting Vacinne support , and She's not wrong

Simon Coveney delighted the new PCR requirement for those enter the UK does not affect the common area Travel arrangement. Perhaps Simon not aware , Northern Ireland now has the highest incident rates in the entire UK .

I had to get one yesterday in Cork, before a GP will see me....I know, that's a different argument! Anyway, I was waiting over 15mins, told park up after queuing. The place was non-stop and leaving the centre, the traffic ques to get in was backed up on the road. All were going to be tested as there was someone outside on traffic duty waving on motorists not getted tested.

Not sure where they're getting the no show figures from tbh

Apparently City West centre but it now transpires there was serious staffing issues and with bookings systems. I'm unsure if its a nationwide issue but there was clearly issues all of last week, I believe at one stage 14 counties had no availability for booking a PCR test

How did you come to that conclusion from the post you quoted? You've lockdown and pubs on the brain.

They do seem to reserve a lot of slots for GPs on any given day. 30-32K daily tests carried out recently, that's not what you'd call few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,181 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

I never said it was a few , just mentioning the fact few if any slots were available but I do accept GP slots are kept but that's an entirely separate matter as is actually getting to see a GP by all accounts for other issues.

Very Telling , that with the exception of the god awful buffoon Eamonn Ryan, not a single government representative appearing on any of the Sunday shows. Eamonn only available as he'd hoped to talk about his virtual party conference yesterday and chat generally about climate boxology, poor chaps not been asked single question about the Greens agenda on the week in politics.

I tell a lie, just been asked about the cost of retro fitting the average home, I'll leave that to another thread

It was pure madness. A woman crying about the orphans that will be in Africa while completely ignoring the damage done by restrictions and the age demographics it affects.

And even in our own small corner of the world many unnecessary and prolonged restrictions have a lot to answer for.

    The overcrowding from other respiratory viruses (mainly RSV) currently circulating and affecting children is a direct result of measures and restrictions;

But if parents follow NPHET recommendations and put a temporary halt to children’s socialising outside school those RSV admissions should come down and ease pressure on the children’s hospitals.

Restrictions for a virus other than Covid? Many called it early on.

Interesting article. Surprising. Didn't know about this at all.

I had a test yesterday, in Dublin Airport. I got the app the day before at about 7am. I was half an hour early as I expected it to be jammers, queues for parking etc, but I drove straight in. I actually had to pull up and wait for my app time before I could enter.

It was a drive through; queuing for registration was the longest part; the test itself took one minute. From my app time to when I was driving home was just under an hour.

Same in finglas, probably the reason I'm losing my mind today as other children have to restrict movement while we wait for test results.

It's the tip of the iceberg.

Pandemic response around the world is causing untold misery. Huge numbers of deaths from starvation in developing countries, girls being forced into marriage instead of education, hundreds of thousands of "missing" cancer diagnoses in children and young people, education levels plummeting, huge numbers of children being referred to ever-longer mental health service waiting lists, much higher levels of excess deaths from ischemic and coronary events, huge addiction issues, businesses and livelihoods destroyed.

The collateral damage of inept pandemic management and politicians trying to play god, copying the playbook of an authoritarian, genocidal hellhole to try and control a disease with an average death age equal to average life expectancy, less likely to kill a child than a bolt of lightning on any given day.

And whenever you post about any of it here; crickets.

Chinese and Russian bot farms incite panic and fear, cultivate a "something must be done" attitude among the population, government respond in fear of their next election chances with authoritarian measures and use "behavioural science" (fear propaganda) to increase compliance, and the spiral goes on.

The number of people alive today who would not have been if not for SARS-CoV-2 will be far outstripped by the number of people dead who would not have been if not for the disgustingly hysterical response. And in short order, if it's not already the case.

I don't think this is necessarily true. Of beds are filled up with covid patients. Then that reduces bed space for heart attacks/strokes/whatever. Also, healthcare workers would be adversely effected this reducing staff numbers and reduction in patient safety/care.

LOL! Few weeks ago we were talking about the complete reopening of society and dropping vaccine passport, now this. Couldn’t make it up.

So hospital numbers have been falling for over a week and yet NPHET are imposing further restrictions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭MilkyToast

    I'm not doing restrictions. 😊
