ye I think an appeal by shamrocks will get him off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,448 ✭✭✭Marrooned

what do posters think of the square ball yesterday in the Boro, shamrocks game a lot of people said Hughes called it when the ball was in flight, considering that I couldn’t judge it from the elevation in the stand he certainly couldn’t have known from pitch level. Not much of a crib but just looking for opinions

Definitely looked square ball on clubber.

Ref had a shocking game but he got square ball right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 485 ✭✭jamesbond2022

Some of the boro players should have been cuter to hang outside the square until the ball landed rather than rush in once the ball was struck defo looked a square ball

Ref definetly favoured shamrocks in the second half though

It took the boro to long to adapt to the spare man

After watching both semis,Im backing the Boro for it next year. They have the most potential by a mile when all their players are back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 232 ✭✭Sir Chaz

Whistle definitely went before the ball hit the net. I thought at the game it was harsh re the square ball but looking back on it, there was at least 2 Boro lads in before the ball arrived. Great finish by young Clifford though all the same.

Couple of huge collisions with Paddy Mullen and first Ed Moylan and then Buckley. Looked fair enough hits but maybe 2nd one was marginal. Moylan was a huge loss, such a shame for him. Mullen was definitely putting himself about but the red card was ridiculous and I'd say the earlier 2 collisions didn't help him. Linesman made a ridiculous decision there, and he also made the call that got O'Connor sent off O'Connor in the first game.

Boro only started playing to their strengths when the 2 minors came on. Should have gone on and won it but fair play to Shamrocks, and great to see Adrian Mullen put in a big performance. Eoin Cody needs to be 11 for Kilkenny as well next year, same role as Morris does for Tipp.

3 years in a row that the boro couldn't handle the extra player. Really impressed with lacey again. 2 pressure frees and 2 more from play. He is definitely one for the future. Thats why i said last week derek could do worse than bring himself and young barcoe in around the senior set up. Im convinced theres hurlers around the county who arent involved and its vital that players from north to the deep south get a look. There has to be a few players from vegas worth a look.

It would be great fo Kilkenny to have Mullen fully fit and in form. Agree with you about Cody playing at centre forward, he is seeing more of the ball and is learning to pass the ball. Hopefully, a rest will do John Donnelly a power of good. I feel a forward line of TJ, Cody, Mullen, Donnelly, Ryan and Mossy can do damage. However, Donnelly and Ryan do a lot of tracking back and tire. 2 or 3 of Stephen Donnelly, Mackessy, Luke Hogan, Timmy Clifford, Marty Murphy, Shine need to come on with 15 to 20 minutes to go.

Molloy and Cian Kenny in midfield.

From 1 to 7 is problematic. If Huw travels, none of Eoin Murphy, Aidan Tallis, Mikey Butler, Tommy Walsh, Shane Murphy, Blanch, Richie Reid, Mikey Carey, Deegan, Darragh Corcoran could be marked as a definite starter though some of these will make it. Full back Patrick Moylan?

Now that the club is at the final stages the below are players had good seasons who weren't part of the senior panel last year:

Dicksboro: Liam Moore, Timmy Clifford, Cillian Hacket, Tom Kenny

    Ballyhale: Killian corcoran, Darragh Corcoran

    Thomastown: Colm Treacy

    O Loughlins: Conor Heary

    Bennettsbridge: Conor Murphy, Bill Hughes

    Tullaroan: Dylan Simpson, Bill Walton

Clara: Paul Cody, David Barcoe, Rory Glynn

    Mullinavat: Oisin Knox, Padraig Dempsey

    Glenmore: Cathal Beirne, Ian Byrne

    Ballycallan: Stepheh Keoghan

    Comer: Conor McMahon

    Lisdowney: Brian Kavanagh, Niall Brennan

    That's a great list.

If anyone went to intermediate/junior games it would be great to get more players.

Some other lads to add in (from the games I've seen):

Boro: Eoghan Moylan and Joe Sheehan (might need a bit of bulking)

OLG: thought Ronan Buckley has done well in David Fogartys absence

    Clara: Conor Hoyne

Comer: korff (pre injury), Jack buggy

Graigue BC: Richard Keoghan (not sure if this was who you meant as he stood out a lot more in the relegation final than Stephen), Billy O Neill

I can't speak enough on the other teams to give a fair list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭Village87

I watched a lot of Intermediate this year, Cian Kenny has been outstanding, others who have done well imo

    Sean Bergin

    Naill Mullins

    Des Dunne

    Anthony Ireland Wall

    Daire O'Neill

    Ray Cody

    Seamus Farrell

    Jim Conlon

    Joe Fitzpatrick

    Cathal O'Leary

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 209 ✭✭kentu

Good list but there's a few I would think would not be up to Intercounty pace in my opinion. Tom Kenny and Oisin Knox are both long term injuries also, George O'Connor is one who has lots of hurling and may well be worth a look and persisting with as he might need to bulk up a bit.

For a team struggling in Junior Craig Phelan is an outstanding hurler for Slieverue and might be another player having a look at.

I would love to see a few players get a proper run in the league especially in the backs as we desperately need a bit more competition and definitely more cover needed for fullback line too with Tommy Walsh possibly missing most of if not all of 2026.

I watched a good bit of Intermediate this year also, I would agree with the above list and would add the following lads also who looked impressive at points throughout the championship.

    Sam Byrne

    Bryan Cody

    Jamie Lyng

    Colman O'Sullivan

    Adam Croke

    Ciaran Quilty

    Paddy Langton

    Adam Franks

    Denis Walsh

    Alex Moore

How many are capable of making the step up is hard to know but i'm sure some would be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭KK36

It would be a huge step up for some of them to be on the county panel. I think the following players not on the KK panel should be brought in.

Darragh Corcoran, Timmy Clifford, Ian Byrne, Conor Murphy, Conor Heary, Jamie Harkin, David Barcoe, Paddy Langton, Jake Dwyer, Denis Walsh.

Kilkenny haven't won a senior All Ireland in 11 years and there's been lots of debate the past couple of years as to the reasons for this, was it lack of enough serious talent coming through?,Maybe Kilkennys slowness to adapt to the modern way the game is now played at inter county level?,maybe the development squads system needed to be looked at had it become outdated?should we have paid coaches in schools?,was it the coaching at club level, was it management, the county board?, was it lack of financial input in the county team? ,Well none of the above according to Andy Comerford on the radio last night, its all wait for it,Kilkenny gaa Referee's fault and the way the game is refereed in the county that's "hindering players" when they go on to play for Kilkenny ,I didn't know whether to laugh or cry listening to him scrapping the barrell of excuses it was absolute cringe listening to him.

He didn't agree with the two red cards at the weekend which is fair enough everybody is entitled to there opinion but to then go and try to equate the Refereeing in the county to Kilkenny players been "hindered at the highest level was just laughable.

I don't think I ever heard him debate any of the reasons above or have any legitimate arguments for Kilkenny not winning other than repeatedly saying "we have the players " and then he comes out with this garbage last night and the host never even pulled him up on it.

Yes thought it was shocking disrespectful, From listening to people that I know in other counties surrounding us like Carlow, Wexford and Cork, Waterford, Laois. They get less more physicality in games and are pulled for soft frees much easier. Very disrespectful to the referees in this county 1st, personally think he should have to apologise for it on the next show. I'm speaking with a supporters hat on not a referee BTW.

The chap that interviews him, Ciarán neary seems a nice lad but is a total yes man. Don't think I've ever heard him actually disagree with anything Andy says

If Andy said the grass in nowlan Park was pink neary would agree with him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 nippy corner foward

He disagreed with andy about the sendings off. Also they're restricted to what they can say. That radio station gave unbelievable coverage when kclr were playing scutter or **** football matches in carlow that no one gave a **** about. Crkc really raised the bar and of course kclr complained and took all the big matches. Kclr pundits are boring and dont cross the line mark dowling and pat hoban also always agree with each other. Ya can make up your mind on Ronnies commentary. Kclr have all the power but crkc definitely give better service and its all voluntary. If it wasnt for crkc you would be listening to scutter in carlow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 384 ✭✭Stripeyman

Yeah, no, definitely. I'd agree with all that...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 215 ✭✭neverbet

KCLR, the clue is in the title. Carlow people have every entitlement to have their games aired and you are given two options, they split the airwaves if there is a clash of fixtures and secondly you have the off button if you don't like the content. Your lack of respect for our neighbours and their games is an embarassment. KCLR is a commercial station responsible to its shareholders.Crkc on the other hand is voluntary and community based and I fully agree that it provides a wonderfully comprehensive coverage of all things Gaa from under 13 D to Junior F, schools ,colleges, and inter county. Long may it continue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,094 ✭✭✭conor05

How do lads see the senior final going?

Ballyhale have the current inter county forwards and OLG the current inter county defenders, match ups will play a big part.

Mackessy on Joey Holden will be a good battle and you’d imagine Butler will go on Eoin Cody and Lawlor on TJ.

Deegan doesn’t really man mark so will probably end up on Adrian Mullen in the battle zone.

Jordan Molloy is hurling out of his skin but OLG are not firing up front while Ballyhale relied on Dean Masons brilliance to get over Dicksboro.

50/50 in my eyes, very hard to call it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭JohnCougar

CRKC gave KCLR the kick that was needed to cover gaa games and other sports in Kilkenny and Carlow. KCLR was giving very little live commentary on games for many years. Thankfully now due to CRKC there is plenty of coverage of all gaa games and other sports.

Absolutely ridiculous out of Andy, only for the ref Sunday Mullinavat could have snatched a win, Andy might regret them comments after the county final. The referees who ref the lattar stages of the club senior are excellent and let the game flow.
