He's also a dad with a young daughter. Safe to say it changes your priorities and view of the world.

In the Kimmage interview, he mentioned that money isn't a focus as he was set for life a few short years into his career. Paraphrasing somewhat but winning titles is the focus and he's not fighting for a card or job like most pros.

It will be cool to see the competitive rivalry with Rahm/Scheffler this year. Just a shame Cam Smith will only be there for the 4 big ones.

Hopefully all this stuff won’t affect his game this season especially the Majors .

Last year is in the past, it’s the coming season which concerns me.

Has a 3 shot lead and absolutely stuck a beauty on par 3 15 so may end up 4 ahead...had a very quick start today, then went quiet and wasn't playing too well, lot of par scrambling, and now bursting away again.

Rory is on fire at the minute. Hard to see anybody catching him tomorrow.

Gotta say the fawning on Sky is sickening at times. Like players making mistakes and they are saying that Rory is putting the pressure on them. It's okay to say that on the back nine tomorrow but this is round three, nobody is choking in round 3, it's simply that they are not at the same level as Rory. There's been a bunch of things said that are ridiculous along with some fair assessments. Like talking about him seeing a shot differently to others because he can hit shots they can't is very acceptable commentary.

Ha, awful shot on 18. Probably still get the par and be bogey free

Good opportunity to get the year off to a flier. Wouldn't be surprised if someone from the packs shoots 64/65 so he'll need to protect against that not get into a matchplay game.

Needs to get a few birdies in today. Hard to follow up such a low score, but chasing pack are right there

Reed playing some good stuff but that eagle was pure pox given his 2nd.

Rory, to lose to Reed would be gutting

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,620 ✭✭✭coillcam

Unless someone retrieved that ball to inspect it, you can't really conclude much. Reed stated his marking was visible on the binoculars and the rules official was happy so there isn't much to report. Reed in another curious rules scenario does set off alarm bells though. I was half hoping it was going to be like Fritelli getting the 2 shot penalty last year for an illegal stroke hitting overhead out of the tree!

Rory not at his absolute best but grinding along nicely. I see him matching Reed to get to a playoff atm. Otherwise he needs Reed to make a mistake. Yer man is taking loads of time on each hole, just enough to hold up Rory's group.

Radar told McIlroy on the 16th green that Reed had bogey on 16th.

McIlroy just got par on 16th

Reed has a 6-8 ft putt for par on 17th

    Both on -17

One stroke lead with both to play 18th

Lay up was the right call. At worst he'd get to a playoff. Too risky going for it.
