Yip...the same posters who bought into the "new virus" scare mongering nonsense
Anybody reading this thread knows who I am referring to...

indeed. Just looking over the last week....
So a new more transmissible variant has emerged
As for the variant number, it's a stick to beat us with...what is the number of the initial variant that shut us down in the first place?
getting details about variants of concern, the Kent Variant, the UK variant, etc...here in Ireland we got a "new virus" back in February which turned out to be complete nonsense, as most of here predicted.
the "new virus" they were on about turned out to be nothing
that is assuming we get a new variant of Covid....which as we know, is a long shot!
lock down when we do get hit with a new variant, which is inevitable.
It will be a new variant.
because of a "new virus" (a variant)
    it was a "new virus"
bought into the "new virus" scare mongering

Apart from trying to impress your cohort what point are you trying to make.

Just because I point out that a new variant has been or will be used to scare monger us, doesn't mean I am scare mongering!

    For the sake of balance...

You have the media, constantly fear mongering. That's in their nature as I can't remember the last time they reported the truth...

You have The WHO talking up more restrictions and beating people's morale to a pulp...

You have NPHET whose modeller isn't even qualified or experienced to do the job, a lot of their predictions have been all over the shop and their wording and way of communication has been belittling and patronising at times... And Tony Holohan trying to be a celebrity (Not going to mention how his past exploits leave some people sickened... Oh wait..)

You have a Government here, with a Tainiste who can't hold his piss, a minister who they send off to fix bikes when something important is going on, a Taoiseach who was part of a party that ruined the country and who played a part in it. A Government who have been very hesitant in creating a road map out of this, who have forgotten various important social, cultural and economic aspects during all of this and who have made a shambles out of most other things non Covid related...

You have McConkey and that tit Ryan coming out with all sorts of unethical bull**** that would see any Doctor get the sack

And as that Boggles dude said, you have YT videos of people, spouting information. I'm not getting into whether it's right or wrong, I don't know but, it's information overload...

So with that being said, this is how a lot of people see it and it creates serious worry, anger, anxiety, fear and pessimism within those people. I read some posts in response and it's seemingly a serious lack of understanding towards that and it's creating a bit of nasty atmosphere here.

But anyways, it's Friday. Happy days!

Apart from trying to impress your cohort what point are you trying to make.

Where the new variant scaremongering is coming from.

Most people appear to accept that while new variants might be a risk, it's pretty low at the moment and not something to obsess about.

The risk of new variants increases with the number of infections. Our approach reduces that risk.

Are you genuinely asking me where the scare mongering is coming from?

    Are you serious...

Not at all, I was answering your question.

You will be able to identify my questions from the presence of a question mark.

Sounds promising but will it be a case of the health officials here going for 0 cases in our trial events?

You think I am using variants or the potential of variants to scare monger people on this thread....

I don't think variants are anything to fear, they weren't last Feb they aren't now...I can't be any clearer than that.

There is a chance, as we are witnessing and have witnessed, that the treat of a new variant will be used to frighten the public which is what I have been pointing out.

I don't recall you having a problem with Micheal Martin scare mongering the nation last February by the way....mind you, I don't recall you ever having an opinion that is critical of Government policy.

So anyway. To get back to what you have been asked several times.

Who literally was scare mongering on here banging on about a "new virus".

    In your own time.

    What are you on about?
Anybody reading this thread knows who I am referring to...
There are a cohort on here who no matter what Nphet recommends, no matter how absurd or logically inconsistent the restrictions they will some how justify them and defend the government actions....and attempt to ridicule anybody who doesn't!!

I for one have absolutely no idea who or what you are referring to.

Looking at this thread - there are many many different opinions and POV.

Tbh that comes across as lazy generalisations simply to have a go / ridicule those who you don't agree with.

If you can't back up your claims then don't be surprised being called out on them.

If anyone pointed out those of us who do not support the actions of our government we'd all know who was being referred to...

I don't know why you are getting your knickers in a twist!

So you're back to making vague generalisations against everyone you disagree with regardless of their individual POV - because you're right and everyone else is completely wrong. (Apart from yourself of course) :pac:

But bizarrely can't name all these posters with a hive mind who all say same the exact same thing

    Got ya ...

#lazy generalisations #things which were never said #them!

Well, considering you and others are dismissing people who are having fears, impatience, anger and anxiety, that was the balance...

Since you you want to try and play Billy big balls, let's take a look at this...

    Exhausting.

You said that on 6th of May.

I can't speak for anyone else but, anything you've said from that point onwards, I cannot take seriously and your posts have been irrelevant to me. Without question, the worst, most ignorant post I have seen in any Covid thread since the beginning of this and that is some achievement.

    Well done

This is pathetic, you'd expect more of a mod....

You essentially want me to name all the people who I think support the governments actions...just because I referenced the cohort on here who clearly support the government actions.

There's a gang of ye trying to force me into naming those names...over the last few pages....all trying to out do each other and clap each other on the back while doing so...pathetic.

A post that balances out what he/she is saying, then gets called out for his/her rubbish, can't take it, doesn't have a response so he/she just brushes over it.

    Classic Boggles :D

    Asked to back up claim

    Cries pile on........

Nope. You made the claim you were going to be balanced.

Your post was a bunch of hearsay, falsehoods, name calling and ranting and raving.

I've nothing against any of that, a good rant and rave is good for the soul.

The bit I had issue with again, was the false claim of "balance".

But it would appear with things reopening and vaccinations going in at pace, certain posters are more interested in discussing other posters than the actual reasons for the thread existing.

    I'll leave ye at it.
