Was in dunleary today for old times sake

Went into pub and got glass of white wine

Sat down at last spare table at the front of the bar.

Drank about one third when auld fella came along and wanted a place to sit near the front where I was. All other tables were taken

He was having a pint of stout..

I gulped the rest of my wineglass got up went to bathroom and left

Buck Henry's was a great haunt. Sadly missed

You're ready to be a parent, now. You can almost tell your kids that you had to walk 5km (or whatever) to go to school. Uphill both ways.

I missed some by about a foot as I came out of the barber's at lunchtime. Would have been a disaster as I was wearing a suit. (Yeah I know Emmet Kirwan will hate me but the job demands it).

That ^ is how my sleep is going too. Am sorry to hear you too CJ :(

ta - this role reversal of ai bots, while they make us continually solve caption tests to prove we are real, now we must trick them into something similar to know just what (not who) we are dealing with, "first, spell the long nonsense word from Mary Poppins and use it in a sentence, then and only then will I reply mr. bottybotbotbot." ….ridiculous world we live in

Yesterday, I wasn't feeling great. There's a Danny Boyle season at the cinema and there was a live podcast I wanted to go to. The latter had sold out but I thought I could buy my way in on the door as normal. That wasn't an option. I could subscribe on Patreon to livestream it so I did only for technical difficulties to rule that out.

I took a Nurofen which really helped but it turned out that the Danny Boyle film, Sunshine, wasn't being shown at my local at all. I only found out about the streaming issue when it was too late to go see something else.

Bought some clothes from Next. To be delivered to my local store coz it's handy for me. Only they somehow split my order in 2 and then lost one of the packages. A week later I follow up with customer support:

    Me: Where's my package.

CS#1: The postcode you've given is wrong, what's the one on the account and I'll investigate then.

Me: The postcode you have is wrong. I haven't lived there for 2 years. Here's what it IS and here's what it SHOULD BE.

CS#2: Sorry, we can't update your address through email. Goodbye.

Me: Fine but what about my order?

CS#3: I can see we couldn't deliver your order to your address. I've reordered it for you and it will be sent to your address asap.

Me: But I ordered it to the store so that can't be the issue. And anyway, as I've already said the address on my account is wrong, don't send it there.

    …………………silence………….

Hopefully the people who bought my house have the wit to refuse the package when it arrives at their door but the fcuking delivery driver will probably just drop it and run as usual.

I'm attributing this massive run around to the migraine I had yesterday. Had to take the afternoon off work and lie in a dark room for 5 hours. My brain still feels spongey.

This "portal" thing, waste of money.

I suppose now the homeless in Dublin and NYC can wave to one another.

For the last couple of weeks - lids on milk tetrapaks and 500ml water bottles won't twist off properly. Hanging on by a bit of plastic. Annoying.

That is to keep them attached for recycling purposes.

If you bend them right back, they should stay in place well out of the way of the opening.

When I'm trying to drive onto a roundabout and the drivers aren't indicating, so I don't know if they're turning off or not - I'm quite a cautious driver so often end waiting a very long time, while aggro types just shoot in and hope for the best, and get away with it.

I bought something and needed to register it within a certain time to get the warranty but I couldn't find the receipt anywhere. Just like I knew it would, the receipt turned up out of nowhere two days after the deadline.

Someone drives into a parking spot. Could easily drive forward a couple of metres to free up 1 parking space, or reverse a couple of metres, but instead takes up 2 spaces.

Try being cautious on the Walkinstown roundabout and you'll be there all day

When everyone seems to have new huge cars and your old second hand small car looks like ****, but it works absolutely fine.

When people can't co-ordinate transport. So you'll have two family members driving to the same location at roughly the same time in different cars, even though they are all on the same what's app group and have free instantaneous group communication. "Hey I'm going to X tomorrow at time Y, does anyone need a lift ?" is too much effort.

The ones who leave an unusable gap of valid parking space behind them… which leaves an unusable amount of space ahead of them for another car. So a stretch that should fit 4 cars for parking is down to 3.
