The first aim is the elimination of the risk of serious disease. If you get a "head cold" there's no issue.

I didn't mean that . I mean for me I'd rather risk getting covid than get the AZ vaccine . Others may of course have a much different view

My mother had a stroke at 40.
I had to take 2 weeks of blood thinners after giving birth to my children. I've a feeling I'm going to be ruled out of AZ criteria

No specific numbers, but this article suggest Pfizer will be delivering more volume to the EU than planned and will make up for Astra supply issues

    https://www.reuters.com/article/reutersComService_2_MOLT/idUSKBN2B60A7

    That is fantastic news

I, for one, have a totally different view.

    Why ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,116 ✭✭✭Melanchthon

Yeah I don't really believe there is a serious issue here unless it's with one batch.
The Astra shot has been administered to a huge amount of people in the UK often via GP's, GP's tend to know their patients and they do talk to each other.

    Why ?

Because if you think the chances of dying or being ill from the AZ vaccine are higher than that of COVID you probably need to do some reading

I think neither are a risk to me . So no point voluntarily taking the AZ vaccine if offered . I'd decline . Unsure about the rest of them I'll decide closer to the time . Each to their own though .

I’d take it in the morning tbh

If it was through the books and I got a cert etc. confirming it I'd pay 500 quid without much grumbling now.

Yep, I think they do need to investigate the issue, but I’d take it without a second thought if offered it.

    Before the investigation?
I think it'd make sense to wait.

Why belittle a man (woman) just because you don't like what they say?

To paraphrase Voltaire, "I don't like what you say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it"

10 million Brits have had it without incident. My dad's from the North so I would just hope that would give me enough magical immunity to the horrific side effects that others seem to be getting.

Honestly, if offered I think I’d take it tomorrow. Realistically it’ll be July or august before I’m offered anything so I won’t actually have to choose, but yeah, I think I would.

The incidence is so low that even if we weren't told which vaccine we got in our arm, we wouldn't know the difference.

As I've seen said elsewhere I assume they'll be stopping the dispensary of the contraceptive pill and implants from tomorrow morning as well?

Absolutely not, the men aren't affected so it's not cared about.

When people want to talk about COVID in such a selfish manner they’re a certain type of person

Of course and Aspirin, Paracetamol, Alcohol, Fatty foods and peanuts. All know killers.

Do we have any idea for the timeline of when this nonsense suspension may be lifted? When do they think a conclusion will be reached?

...that poster mentioned birth control because they increase the risk of developing blood clots.

ASAP hopefully. More deaths need to be prevented.

Issue is the opposite tbh. Point out the potential issues and I'm told I'm a man so shut up. When HRT was shown to increase the rate of cancer hugely women complained they weren't being given a "choice". I'm sure the same women would be first in line to sue if it went wrong and claim that the fact they were allowed to take it was because they were women.

Good thread here again. Like a few have said, AZ offered to me in the morning I’d be there in a flash!

Very frustrating... was due to get my AZ vaccine tomorrow and appointment has been cancelled now. Definitely an overreaction.

It is and hopefully by some next weekend it’ll be back on track and with Pfizer upping deliveries Q2 will be massive!

What difference would it make to you getting it now? You still have to wear a mask, social distance, follow lockdown rules.
