While I'm sure we're all terribly sad to see that this thread just got a little less empathetic, it might bring some cheer to learn that the executive orders included directing the DOJ to not renew contracts with private prisons.

    Just outrage for outrage sake.
That is 100% not true in my case, just have a look at my post history.

For example, the minimum wage hasn't been increased in more than a decade and people are complaining that Biden is pushing to more than double it over a 4 year period (along with tying it to a benchmark so it will continue to increase). It is utter stupidity to try to paint that as being anything but a great thing.

Why does the Federal government even need to get involved? States are quite capable of setting their own minimum wages. Indeed, 45 of them have done so.
The five which haven’t (AL, LA, TN, MI, SC) aren’t exactly famous for high costs of living. A federal minimum wage law will either do little for Hawaii, or be overkill for North Dakota. Let the states sort themselves out, that’s why they have legislatures.
Biden described the letter as "generous".

Apparently Trump was very moved by the letter Obama left him, to the point that he tried to call the Ex-president as soon as he read it. (Obama was still in the air, he had to leave a message). The concept seems to have resonated with him. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/20/politics/trump-letter-to-biden/index.html

100,000 America citizens predicted to die in the first month under the Biden regime.

Cuts the $2,000 stimulus to $1,600.

Wants to send $4,000,000,000 of Americans hard earned taxes to other countries.

Lied about having a plan to defeat covid.

It must be so tiring being you, searching for your daily dose manufactured outrage.

Well the states obviously didn't sort it out, wealth inequality is increasing everywhere but skyrocketing in the US. A state can still set a higher minimum wages AFAIK if that isn't enough for Hawaii. It does show leadership and that these subjects are politically popular if a federal government does it and it gets a good response which would help states pass their own specific measures.

That or Biden didn't want to generate headlines and seem petty. You have to wonder how generous Trump was to the man he believes stole the election from him.

So far, yes. What negative stories do you feel are not being covered?

I think he is doing a decent job so far, particularly given that the previous POTUS actually went out of his way to be as unhelpful as possible to the incoming administration.

And that is something that seems to have been forgotten in all of this. Trump actively tried to sabotage Bidens start as POTUS. putting his own hurt feelings ahead of the needs of the nation.

Not for him a smooth transition of power, no helpful handover. No, he much preferred to leave everything up in the air so that the 1st task of Biden was to try to work out what the hell was actually going on.

That he has been able to come out any policies at all is testament to how prepared he really was.

Manufactured outrage? You mean you don't recall anything during the Teummp administration that should have led to questions being raised?

It started, off with not only a lie about crowd sie, but a demand that the crows size was being weaponised by the fake news. We then had the POTUS siding with eh Russian President over his own military. Then then led to the POTUS having no issue with the same Russian President putting bouties on American military personnel.

We had countless examples of Trump trying to bully, belittle and slag off anyone that raised a question against him.

He lied about Stormy Daniels affair, lied about the payment, lied about his knowledge.

And that is just off the top of my head.

Most of which is of total irrelevance. Boohoo he lied about a crowd size and sleeping with a pornstar. There is nothing to be outraged about there at all, hence it's manufactured outrage.

Most of the legitimate 'outrage' happened in the final few months with him trying to undermine the election results and not doing a lot about the taking over of capitol hill. Most of the outrage aimed at Trump was complete fluff, were everything and anything was used to paint in a bad light. it's already begun with Biden.

The only difference now is it is the guy that you like that will be the 'victim' of it so to speak.

You don't think that a POTUS openly lying, and calling those that call him on it as Fake and the Enemy of the people is worthy of outrage?

It isn't the crowd size, or the porn star to be outraged over, it is the lying and attacks on those that were involved.

Trump painted himself in a bad light. Good people on both sides after a neo nazi march! You think that should just have been let slide?

Giving security secrets to the Russians and barring the US press from the WH but allowing the Russian press in?

Lieing about the call to the Ukraine, even going as far as to hide the transcript, you think that didn't deserve some level of outrage?

Most people could see that by accepting his lies one was allowing him to go further the next time. We know this because we practise it in almost every other situation. We know kids will push boundaries until they are called up on it. we know criminals will do more and more unless they are held to account. Anyone paying attention could see the trajectory Trump was on, the only surprise was that so many allowed him to get away with everything.

Fog Hat, I see you only joined the website today. The reason Sweetemotion was banned only just yesterday was due to pushing baseless claims on Biden having dementia, which people had been warned about for a long time, and which mods did not start banning people for until repeated warnings were given.

When did this standard come in? It seems very arbitrary, especially when the claim in question is a matter of subjectivity. Was anyone ever banned for pushing false information about Trump?

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

At its simplest because many States are doing a terrible job at it, causing people to live below the poverty line even when they have one or two jobs - many times these people end up receiving federal money to fill this gap.

This seems like the standard cry of most conservatives - wanting things left to the states right until it serves their interests to say the opposite and then they want the federal government or courts interfere to support their beliefs.

I'll reverse it to you and ask why should my federal taxes be going to support people in red states that are in employment but their states aren't ensuring that they are receiving a living wage for their work?

You would have to ask the mods when it came in specifically, but I can say it was several months ago. I am not a mod and don't want to be accused of backseat moderation.

I can however let you know for a fact that I was previously banned for pointing out how much Trump has spent on golfing trips on the US taxpayers money, that he has beaten his wives before, and that he was a codefendant with Jeffrey sotein in a child rape case even when I backed these up with sources to show as much.

Bans do indeed swing both ways here.

Well if you've got any Joe Biden scandals that don't amount to conspiracies etc, you're free to post them. If they're bad faith arguments or outright misrepresentations then they're likely to get called out.

I'm Irish. I do have a problem with being called a Paddy or a Mick. I've had them thrown at me as insults in the past so I have personal experience of their use. They are derogatory. If you don't know that, you should inform yourself. It's the first time I've seen such derogatory terms being used in these threads. Anyway, I suspect you're just trying to provoke, so I'll leave you at it.

Can't say it would ever bother me at all tbh. But I don't have your experience with it. Where did you encounter it?
