The HSE is just doing what the HSE does.

i keep believing that at some point they'll push people too far and they'll get some backlash for all the arsing around but i honestly don't understand how people can be so passive in the face of this stupidity

"Earlier today, HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid revealed it could be mid-May before the vaccination of over-70s will be completed."

I'll be delighted if i get it this year at this rate

So a 3 week delay on one group but other groups will be 3 weeks ahead of schedule? Not the doomsday scenario you're painting there is it?

Given the history of the HSE i suspect this will be one of many delays.

does anyone know what he does to earn the 300k? i find it amazing how people always rush to the defense of our overpaid civil servants

That's grand but it's the group that's more at risk being delayed.

Not defending anyone. Just pointing out the ridiculousness of imaginary grievances used to attack them when there a lots of genuine grievances that could by used instead.

Leaving all civil servants aside, the HSE has been a recognised sh1tshow for years and years. The new found faith in it is strange to me.

If the az vaccine turns out to be less effective in the over 70’s, this group will need to be followed up with the mRNA anyway. Taking 3 weeks longer now, while much of country is under major restrictions, may well be the more prudent long term play.

The vaccine rollout has used up more or less every dose as soon as practicable after receiving. The are lots of things you can attack. The vaccine rollout has ran well, even if external supply is not fully there yet. That is a global issue however

I get that, and it's a less than ideal outcome. I'm just happy that the doses are going into arms.

Is it somehow related to his salary?

Some appear to think there's a connection

it's more of a general complaint that him and other people involved in the health services somehow seem to fail upwards, are never accountable for anything if things go wrong and are well compensated for ****ing up consistently both during and before covid and if it doesn't change post pandemic it never will

So South Africa has suspended rollout of the AZ vaccine as it as been shown to be less effective against the new variant. Mild and moderate illnesses still occurring in those vaccinated with AZ and who have the new variant. Looking more like it’s the right decision to prioritise the mRNA to the over 70’s. Over 70’s will definitely need a booster for this vaccine. The mRNA is more effective overall, so need for a booster is less likely.

No doubt the SA decision is Tony’s doing

are you going to address the rest of my point? there never seems to be any reckoning for the state of the HSE and the constant scandals it finds itself in. the people running nphet are the very same ones who've dragged it through the muck for the past decade or more so i don't have much faith in them and they haven't given me reason to

I have accepted that Ireland will follow the path it did last year.

May and June will see single digit case numbers, with the country still shut, and NPHET will continue to reference the R number as they did last Summer.

A long slow reopening, justified by the fact NPHET are concerned that cases may rise upon reopening.

The same posters will still be here in Summer trying to justify NPHET at all costs, the only saving grace this year is that they can’t keep referencing Lombardy and it’s similarities to Ireland.

Let's hope financial armageddon comes about sooner rather than later and forcrsc an end to the farce...

Just caught wind of it there on the Nine News. An absolute shambles that vaccines have been pushed back several weeks. As the over 70s are a vulnerable category, restrictions will be extended further. And Reid had repeatedly boasted "we are making great progress" during the week, this is a finger in the eye for those of us waiting to go back to work. The chancer rakes in 350 large per annum, I can't take a single word he says seriously anymore.

For that to happen they would have to stop printing, which they are not going to for as long as the governments are struggling to get the pandemic under control. And we know how that is going.

Sorry ypres5, I might have tried but for the fact there's really nothing of substance to address. it's pretty much a general rant about the HSE.

It's not a rant im pointing out the glaring issues that could affect vaccine rollout once the scale escalates. you've inept management who never face the music for the suffering they've inflicted on people, the cervical scandal being an ideal example. you can play the smartarse and dismiss me but this is too serious for the usual hse comedy of errors i feel there's too much at stake

Again though, it's more of a rant than anything.

You're throwing mud about salaries, accountability and overpaid public servants.

Read through your last few posts, they're honestly not coming across as a critique of the vaccine rollout.

Why are you angry with a scientist calling for more freedom to meet outdoors?
