Sleety here now.. we need more persistent showers to bring the snowline down

One small request, can we keep to one unit of measurement? Metres ASL has been the common unit, using feet is just confusing things, IMO.

Now a very wet snow despite the positive dew point

It’s finally snowing here! All we needed was a prolonged shower.

Northern parts of Roscommon should see some accumulations by Saturday morning.

Proper snow now. And dew points are positive!

Should lie tonight if the showers have this much influence. Temp has been going down constantly.

If I don't get to see some even west snow here in Mayo, even only a shower, I'm going to very annoyed after all this build up.

    Nooooo!

I love horizontal distances in miles, vertical distances in metres!

Rain in millimetres and snow in inches.

    Wind speeds in miles.

Sorry, I'm one of the awkward ones born between two generations. :D

You won't change me now! :pac:

    Meanwhile back to the snow-watch:

Any snow on the ground Monday Morning won't have much shelf life:

Bitter out but lovely blue skies and dry in Meath. Photos from Wicklow inlaws is like a different world on the hills. Foggy, dismal and some lying snow.

Glorious blue skies in east meath, louth border this morning. I am hoping to see lots of snow over weekend, just for something different to look at besides the 4 walls.

you might see a dusting if we get lucky in Meath. You won't see lots of snow till we get a proper and unstable easterly and those are rare as hens teeth.

Here are the current conditions here. The sleet turned over to snow about 2.3c with a very positive dew point.

I had rain a week or so ago all night long at 1c. Just goes to show that the dew point isn’t always the factor.

But looking good for us tonight if the showers keep up.

    Yup that's snow
I'd be surprised if you don't join some of the rest of us by tonight with settling snow at last

Jon Hammond reckons there will be one next month. Although he is a bit of a ramper. There are other tentative signs you might get your wish next month.

That’s not a local accent! Letterkenny is a bit odd in that it’s widely above 100 metres, there aren’t too many towns at that height here.

The actual town isn't. Some outskirt parts are. Letterkenny hospital is 59m and I see they are also white now, its higher than the main street.

    Nope. Knots!

I wonder will that passing trough tonight bring some thunder? Couldn't care less if it brings snow here or not. I just want to be reassured that our sky hasn't gone completely dead.

Big dark heavy clouds coming in from the NW in D9. Could it be?

No snow is real until it falls below 50m asl.

My home town (Bailieborough Co. Cavan) is apparently is the highest altitude town in Ireland and its 145 metres ASL. Just Roundwood higher and that is a village.

Edit: Quick google says more villages higher.
