Thanks, I needed a good laugh this evening as it’s been a tough week.

    Definitely representative of all parents

That report has loads of different people's comments, and they talk about the illness's caught by themselves or their children and of relatives dying as well. I haven't read them all but I did a good skim.

Obviously it's nothing to laugh about, without even having read anything yet. Have some respect.

:D you gotta admire the level of work that's gone into that survey, I mean for a parent's group on Facebook

I'm awaiting the return of the charts and diagrams when schools are back to show us that our lived experiences in school are wrong.

You saying moms couldn't land on Mars? :)

I would like to distance myself from above sentiment.

Their differences are not the point. The point is, just because it's a "regular person" fb group, doesn't mean it's any less serious/valid/legitimate, etc. People have a lot of power and skill and means between them when they join together. It's not mom's either, if you read the report you'd see the category of all the people involved.

You need to learn more about the demographics of these types of Facebook groups. No better than corner shop gossip forums some of them, take it all with a pinch of salt.

In fact even some of the survey participants see it for what it is.

"This survey is so blatantly biased to your page's ridiculous agenda to keep schools shut. None of you are qualified to make the comments you make".

I know enough. You pretty much described boards...

We don't even know who will be back on that date or even if any will be back.

I do know that the government.made a promise to the unions during negotiations a number of weeks back that as close to two weeks notice would be given to schools prior to any reopening. That would probably mean the 8th now for the start of a passed return at mainstream primary level.

I thought the 1st of March was Go for the juniors to second class . Is it not? If not why did they mention it at all .

    Kite flying.

Personally I would think NPHET would like to see just junior and senior infants as they are constantly mentioning slow reopening but government are determined to go juniors to 2nd which isnt really slow as it’s 50%.

The Sunday time laying out NPHETs stark advice......
If things disimprove in the two week period from March 1st return then schools must go fully remote learning again

Know you’re only relaying the information but gosh couldn’t the media hold off till the announcement is made next week. Can only imagine this causing more frenzy for parents and teachers with all the uncertainty.

Most people have been for a very long time, its not working any more and they seriously need to stop leaking this stuff in the media because it will cause people to give up.

But that's not going to happen. And I think after all the crap this week they are only turning people away from them. We live 15km from the sea and I brought my 2 kids out for the first time since Christmas this evening. They were so delighted and even though they are doing fine at home they started telling me what they missed about our old life. Simple things such as going to the play centre.and for tea and cake. Nothing major. We say a few people when we were there but everyone was keeping their distance. I have to say it was good for me too. But it made me think technically I was breaking the law but people can fly in from Brazil no problem.

I think everyone knows the 5km is unnecessary. There's no difference doing that 2km away or 15km away.
The issue is the mass gatherings or mixing with different households.

That's the guidelines that have to be followed but are not.

He has no clue what’s going to happen just like all the other principals. He is literally guessing.

Its not working because people aren't following the guidelines.

There were always people who didn't follow them but the majority did. They are losing the people now, lockdown will end very soon even though they repeatedly tell us its here for another few weeks, months etc etc.

How would that work ? The AEN teachers would be remote teaching their classes ?
It sounds so unworkable id believe it

Your right. Most people did follow them as most people are good law abiding citizens. But now the ordinary people are figuring out there's one rule for them and another for the rest of us. Its always been this way of course but hasn't always been so obvious. People will use their own common sense going forward.

They don't have classes, they have groups. In theory those groups will be in school but I think what will happen is that quite a number of parents won't send their kids in without their peers and also the older kids might be forced to go in once and will then kick up such a stink when they are the only one from their class in the building.

Saw this suggested on Twitter alright but not sure how it could work.
You would get AEN children in groups mixing breaking bubbles and pods of main classes, and they would not isolate for 2 weeks before going back into school because then they'd mss more time.

You would also have SET teachers working with groups they woud not normally have.

Not all AEN children might be eligible due to teacher numbers so they wont get any support while at home.

Then the children themselves wondering why they've been singled out to come back before their classmates.

I suggested this to kiddo 1 as a possibility, who nearly had a stroke, why go back without their friends, what is the point and won't people think I am strange for coming back early. Is there something wrong that I need extra schooling over schoolpals?

Another suggestion I saw was todrop them down for their allocated session in school. This might work but some kids I see twice a day. I could rejiggle timetable to best case scenario as wont please everyone but then parent has to bundle all kids in car and sit outside waiting for Johnny or Mary to finish their 40 minute or whatever length session.

    Tis an awkward one.

Eamonn Ryan said he wants them in for full school days. Hence why that principal has their percentages up on their twitter. Shows the lunacy of what is being suggested and also how it has huge impacts on far greater numbers than it gives benefit to.
