One year in de libraries all our branches got de usual Christmas closure posters to put on display. However, instead of Christmas it stated "Bank Holiday". There was a huge furore from de staff who took to de libraries lovely old English designed compewter system "Galaxy", which allowed screen messages to be sent from branch to branch and you could select which branches, HQ etc that you wanted to see the message. It was extremely useful, loved by most staff, and at Christmas enabled some artistry through the clever production of pictures with basic keyboard characters. Ironically I wasn't very good at those pictures, but some staff were extremely good at it. Anyway the cynical messages went around a bit like on the thread here "We've just put up the Bank Holiday Tree in our branch" or "we've just bought Bank Holiday Cake from our staff kitty". Management were furious and withdrew this "privilege", and said the "Bank Holiday" notices were affected by a typo. They were of course, seeing if they could get away with being "woke". They didn't.

    When will Joe be back?

I missed a lot of shows in recent months, so I will listen back. Any recommendations as to the best shows? I know, they are all best shows, but the best of the best.

Each show was better than the one before. Listen to the last one.

While it’s ok to remember people who have passed away during the year,
The thought that the presenter is enjoying it,
    Well,
    That’s sick.

Vampoyre FunnyFryday is good if you have some prisoners you want to interrogate or there’s someone visiting and you want them to leave.

I think Fr. Dick Byrne sums up my feelings on de Brindin O'Cardle story:

    giphy.gif

Dats two cast members in recent years falling out of favour with de King Of Comedy so to speak. Row-wee Cowan and now dis fella. It's a disgrace Joe!

I don't see what this has to do with the Joe Duffy Show thread.

Brendan is a good old skin, and is generous to a fault. Storm in a teacup, I'd say.

Well the fact that O’Cardle uses the show to promote his wares and that the host facilitated it makes it relevant IMO.

He’s a great man for telling us about his generosity too.

There's often talk of the late Derek Davis on here. Someone posted a clip of him interviewing Mick Lally and his wife on 'Davis at Large' on another thread.

This is sad. Using Fair City to advertise Liveline.

    https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2020/1228/1186678-pork-to-joe-cass-makes-liveline-threat-on-fair-city/
On Wednesday night's Fair City, fans will be treated to the surreal sight of Cass dressed up as a pig while threatening to call Joe Duffy on Liveline.

The ructions begin when Bob tells Cass that he is barred from the Hungry Pig.

"A pig barred from the Pig!" Cass replies. "Joe Duffy will love this!"

"51551 - wash your hands," offers a smiling Hughie.

    "Good man," says Cass.

Fans can find out what happens next on RTÉ One on Wednesday at 8:00pm.

Have yizzers all had a good Christmas?

Back in dental-doom-dom so to speak, chronic infection which had me puking into a bun bag. However in spite of dat I managed to pull off a better Christmas than a few folk I know, de personal hot tub and sauna/steam room suite was a wonder, with de wind whistling through de tall trees above which were bending ominously towards me. I never did master de personal pool table, was trying to emulate de phenomenal skills of Fungus whilst enjoying a roaring foyre.
