The other question needs to be asked:

Why did it come to this for the school?

Parents: “ok, love. Take off those skin tight leggings, please. You’re going to school. Please put on something more appropriate for school.”

But as usual, it’s always someone else’s fault..

I think you're wildly over estimating the amount of control parents have over their teenagers when they are not by their side haha! Teenagers are young adults with their own priorities and goals and ambitions. They care a little bit about mam and dad want, but mostly, and famously, they really don't. Especially when they are away from them.

Wearing clothes made from synthetic fibre when working out i find really unpleasant.

The hate of women in girls in this thread is scary. It's fúcking leggings, we all wear them when exercising because they are the most comfortable clothing to exercise in. I actually don't understand why would anyone find cotton track suit bottoms suitable for relatively intensive PE.
As much as I find it amusing how much of a tizzy twitter has gotten into over a story that never actually happened, there is this darker aspect to it that's been revealed.

Two groups of people immediately popped up

    - People who went, "yep, that's men, scumbags, I'm sick of the lot of them"
    - People who went, "yep, that's women, fvcking whores, always dressing like sluts and then claiming innocence".

Both scary groups of people. Of course, only one of them is likely to be really violent.

Didn't you hear the latest narrative? Only fans is an empowered tool for women. Makes them strong and independent and allows them not have to rely on men for money.

Not sure why they can't get a normal job but there you go.

I'd imagine a global pandemic shutting down economies, rising costs of living with income levels not matching it and in some parts of the world crippling debt as a result of student loans/healthcare etc.

I'm not a purveyor of this stuff but it seems like a healthier alternative than being exploited on the streets or by the porn industry. I knew a few women who worked in strip clubs throughout university to pay for their masters degrees. Two of whom have PhD and one is now a Director of a law firm.

But ya know, keep clutching those pearly whites.

They addressed girls because the girls' dressing was the issue for them.

Why is this so hard to understand?

If the boys were not an issue, why would they need to be addressed?

So all girls and no boys were an issue? The little sluts!

    If there's one thing i dont wanna see, it's a 20-something year old girl's arse .

Exactly, nobody wants to see that but they walk aroudn thinking their gods gift just because they're wearing tight clothing. The self entitlement of them is unreal, and they're crazy self worth.

Well unlike/unfollow those pages on social media. You'll only see them if you want to. Really not painting yourself in a good light here.

This poster is a re reg troll and best not to give them airtime. Feel sorry for the Mods with this person. Very concerning views expressed.

As for school denial they only addressed girls. Not kids who according to them were breaking the rules, they address girls. So either no boys and all girls were breaking uniform rules or they handled this terribly.

lets be honest, thats just not true. When Ugg boots were all the rage 'ohh they're warm and comfy, its not a fashion thing' , now most women wouldn't be caught dead in them.

leggings are the current fashion trend. Instagram 'fitness influencers' made the absolute skin tight ones that are half see-through and have a visible 'camel toe' popular. In 2 years time nobody will be wearing those for PE or anything else. Nobody really has an issue with the fashion of leggings, but its quite inappropriate for underage girls to be wearing the really tight ones that show off everything or are half see-through and thats not a 'comfort thing' its to be like the 'influencers' who trade sex appeal for followers.

anewme - take a day away from the thread & calm down.

This is not the place to be throwing allegations about.

walshb - likewise, take a day off

Post a lot more respectably when you return

Once again the use of that word. You are the only one using it.

    This is a disgraceful post...

    I am reporting it...

Most crude of language? What are you talking about here..

I never ever lowered any thread to crudeness

It seems to be you that has the issue....strenuously looking for crudeness and vulgarity that is not there....

I think it was aimed at someone else.

Yeah you see boys going around all the time wearing Lycra showing off the outline of their knobs

Sorry, what are you on about?

The school addressed the girls because to them, the girls were the issue.

Why can you not grasp this?

It has certainly exposed the latter, this thread, and the closed one, is a wealth of evidence. Wild swings between the two over the hours.

What's disturbing though is in this instance school kids are the objects of their ire. It's pathetic.

School should be an encouraging place for the student, teachers should see their job as a privilege.

We wore leggings or shorts 30 years ago in school. There were never any comments about our knees or hips or anything else. There might be some insulting comments made to bigger girls but nothing about how leggings are to tight for PE. I'm sorry but this seems to be some Irish obsession and I really don't get it.

BTW my 8 year old wears leggings to PE because they are the only sports pants that don't slide off her. So apparently it's better if half of her arse is sticking out than that she is wearing leggings.

The principal wasn't there to hear what was actually delivered, the students were. It looks like at least some of the assemblies went off the rails, and the original idea wasn't good to start with - if they simply messaged parents to remind about uniform rules instead of lining up girls to chastise them...

Except...There is no evidence of what you claim happened...

What's worrying is how easy it is to start a national witch-hunt (led by the truly despicable Irish Times, which prides itself itself on its political correctness and adherence to woke-ism, but in fact has the ethics of Bangkok pimp) based on village gossip and rumours.

If you think this is bad, you would want to see the deleted thread. The views were extreme, crude and very worrying.

I find the majority of posters can discuss it in a fair manner, whether or not you agree or disagree with the story as it is played out. Or if we are hearing the full story.

Though it should also be said, there are a considerable number who hate women, young women, talk about them in the most crude and demeaning terms.

The wearing of the correct uniform was the issue and that is an issue for the whole school and that is how it should have been addressed.

Ok, so loads of versions here then....

The school did not deliberately single out girls here.

Girls dressing was their issue....that was my understanding of it...

But as the school principal Clearly said this morning the issue was soley with the girls attaire ,
Can't imagine lads being called in and told you can't wear skin tight legging and Yoga pants as it's not part of school uniforms .

PBP young one on ranting and raving even though it was pointed out 15 times the principle denied the comments happened.

    Still ranting and raving.

Just needs the drama no matter what the truth.

Some people are always late to the party.

Ethics and defamation law are completely different though. Whilst the reporting of the story may be unethical, that doesn't imply it's also defamatory.

So now you're going to tell me about ethics...
I suspect you know as much about them as defamation

    Ethics & Defamation.
Theyre not mutually exclusive, but you'd hope your journalist has regard to both in their reporting.

    Ah okay.

Why should teachers see their job as a privilege? It's a bloody job. The days of teaching being a vocation thankfully 3nded for most a good while ago.

The 1980s, and beyond, with Jane Fonda. They've been an ever present item of clothing. Only minor difference now is they're worn outside of gyms a lot more.

Multiple reports are a form of evidence. Yes there could be some distortion but the principal wasn't in the assemblies, the students were.

Maybe the parents should be ensuring the girls and boys dress appropriately. Society seems to be happy enough to sexualise children with the likes of that Cardi B yoke and her ilk acting as cheerleaders.
