I won't go into this too much as I will also rant. But what we are facing into over the next 6 weeks, is NOT a lockdown. It is just harsher restirctions than normal, it isn't a lockdown, too many places will continue to remain open and as long as 700+ students can meet in a school every day it isn't a lockdown.

As with all the levels they've muddied the waters by not sticking to each level as defined. Even level 3 was level 3.5 and this is dubbed to be Level 5 minus.

I was in The Range tonight.
They said they were planning on leaving the Christmas section and other sections open for as long as possible but they were expecting the Gardaí to come in and tell them to close. Woodies are meant to be in a similar position.

They never closed the homewares and seasonal (BBQ kit and outdoor furniture - in high demand then) sections in The Range last time out; they just wouldn't let you buy from them without stuff from the essential sections

Now, the essentials list last time was even tighter than this time - hardware and stationary are explicitly OK this time out which would leave The Range with very few not-allowed sections and a hell of a time blocking them out.

So looking forward to the long weekend I finish before lunchtime Friday and off till Wednesday, was due to work tomorrow but with restrictions I don't think there is much point it wont be manic as I have time and holidays due to me

OH off Friday too so might do a nice lunch at home Friday followed by a very chilled evening and weekend :)

I might pop to my local veg shop Saturday (he on his own there will be no crowds) he sells flowers and pick up some Cyclamen to mix with pots of winter pansies to brighten up my garden, seen a mix of them in another garden and they were gorgeous together, my mother in law calls Cyclamen the Christmas plant? Not sure if it is true but I will go with it!

I know its only Wednesday but has anyone anything planned?

Nothing planned at all. Looks like daughters drama is off so that was last of the kids weekend activities still standing as such.

Will go for a couple of walks with the kids if the weather is dry and probably movies, jigsaws and Lego.

To be honest am enjoying the quiet weekends and having nothing to be rushing off to.

I do love things to look forward to and ir keeps me going but I don't mind being as home as much as I thought I would. I'm lucky I've a warm house and my income hasn't changed. I'm determined to get out daily and not gain weight. I've zero plans for the next 6 weeks!!

Work in a shoe shop and we all thought we were closing just got a call from the owner we are staying open! We sell Skechers so apparently they are essential. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.
Apparently most shops in our shopping centre have found loop holes to stay open. So it's not really an essential retail closure

Birthday celebrations here. Absolutely can't wait and will make it as good as we possibly can.

I'm looking forward to an extra day off on Monday. :D

My plans are to take the dog on a nice long autumnal walk and I will bring my aunt to collect the Christmas present she has ordered for my mam.

It's going to be a wild rollercoaster ride. :pac:

Booked my take away Xmas dinner from a local restaurant today - so delighted! It'll be the first time in years I don't have to cook Xmas dinner.

The Christmas draft excluders are so cute on home store and more, I nearly forgot I already had one, its a snowy scene on mine, you put batteries in and the snowy houses light up

Bought this light up Christmas globe just as they were hitting the shelves, the picture doesn't do them justice but they are really nice, bought one for my mom too and she loved it

Was in homestore last night and they said thd Xmas section will be closed off from today :(

    Their website says...

In accordance with the government guidelines
our stores are only selling products necessary for the essential upkeep and functioning of places of residence,
but our full range is available online.
    More Info

I too don't get the logic, Apparently its to stop giving people ideas about moving around....the whole idea is to only shop for essential stuff, I would argue this is essential!!

HomeStore and more were very strict when they reopened the last time. I think there a bit strict. They are also an annoying company when dealing with refunds.

Here's a list of the shops open in Dundrum Town centre today anyway, they say it will be updated daily.

I'm in the city centre, and there is a lot open when you compare it to March/April.

Yeah was wondering that, either a mistake or they are selling products not actually doing haircuts (essential?)

Reminds me when here in the Continent the supermarkets where forced to section off some non-essential aisles, for example stationery.
The reasoning that was given was: not to profiteer at the expense of the specialist shops, which were closed.
But come on: I had to go to the supermarket for food anyway, what the actual harm if I also bought a notepad or highlighter ???

By the amount of traffic on the roads around me, there's a lot of people still working/shopping/driving around in 5km diameter circles
